Seeing as the combat has already started, I turn around and rush back to the cave and enter behind Tungol. "Sorry Jared, looks like the shovels will have to wait." Peeking out from behind Tungol and Narissa I cast Eldritch Blast at G1
As Jared starts to bound down the trail, Alteria's shot blasts the goblin in the chest, sending it sprawling as Tungol's torch hits the barricade, setting it alight.
Narissa's shot sails through the fog, but only to pang against a rock wall ineffectively, it's dull thud echoing around the tunnel.
Goblin 1 can be heard moving about the cavern ahead, although no more attacks come from the mist.
The light from the burning barricade allows the rest of the party a view of a bit further up, revealing a rickety bridge across the cavern, connecting 2 side tunnels some 20ft up.
I move to the extent of my movement up the stream, putting me just next to the bridge. Iuse my bonus action to cast Magic Stone, then hurl one of the three stones at the bridge.
After a little bit on the trail, you see a ruffled and dishevelled Jared lying unconscious in the leaves, with a boar standing over him, lazily chewing on his hair.
What is noticeable is a small arrow sticking out of his shoulder, a small cut on his forearm, and a beaten up dagger bearing pock marks from previous ornamentation, since removed, lined in what you can only assume is his own blood.
Also noticeable are splotches of a purple, strong smelling liquid on and around his face, and light marks on his arms and neck, as if where suction were applied.
Whatever this means is not readily apparent, and you'll have to draw your own conclusions on.
"Ah, err.. Is this a companion of yours?" Sildar asks the group, slightly confused as to his state and location.
"I don't exactly have anything left that would help him in his current state... I can carry him if you wish? After all, it wouldn't be wise to dawdle here."
Upon reaching the wagons, Sildar sets down Jared in the back of one and decides to spill the beans.
"Alright, so unfortunately our boss has been abducted by goblins, and the map he had, stolen." He starts, walking around and gesturing to the empty map case lying on the ground next to the horses.
"This map, contained the location of a lost mine that was known to be in the area centuries ago. It contained precious metals, gemstones, and a strong natural magic. Parts of the mine were supposedly also converted into a great magic forge, capable of the creation of magical arms and armour. The value of the mine can not be understated."
"Since you've at least proven to be loyal to your employer, if no-one else" he remarks, looking at Narissa. "We need to find that map, or one of the other two Rockseeker brothers. They'll be able to lead us to the mine, and hopefully, Gundren."
As he pokes around the site of the ambush, he adds "On the topic of loyalty to employers, I'm not in the best condition, and would like to hire you as an escort to Phandalin. I can offer you all a sum of 50gp for passage, and we can get to work on finding out where they've got Gundren tied up. Oh, and you'll still be paid for the delivery of the tools once we get there." He quickly adds.
Well first I should disclaim that I'm not really "with" them, I just happened to be here on a job for the merchant's guild.
That being said, I have my own wagon if you wish to ride with me, perhaps we can talk more of this job on the way, I have very reasonable rates and am more than willing to set up some deals with the local guild.

The wooden bridge, almost more nails than wood in some parts, caves from the force of the magically imbued stone.
The goblin atop it manages to grab onto the ledge of a cavern wall before it fell, and hefts itself up onto the ledge next to it.
Meanwhile the equally rickety barricade succumbs to the fire, and collapses into a few scattered, burning logs.

Okay. No, we can NOT fight this thing right now, I'm gonna try something, so everybody just back off for a second and do NOT move.
I move to try and shoo the creature away without drawing it's ire.

The boar looks over to you, and seeing your numbers, starts to slowly back away from the dwarf before darting further down the path.
I walk over to Jared’s unconscious body and nudge him with my foot,
“What did this idiot do to himself?”

"I don't exactly have anything left that would help him in his current state... I can carry him if you wish? After all, it wouldn't be wise to dawdle here."
I pick up the bloody dagger twirling it nonchalantly,
“It would be preferable if you carried him, thank you. Dumb as he may be he’s a good asset to the team.”
I look back down at him,
”Plus, I’m not carrying someone who looks like he got freaky with a plum.”
"Hmm... Alright." Sildar shrugs uncomfortably and lifts the unconscious dwarf over his shoulder, wincing from the weight on a few if his cracked ribs.
With that, the party can continue down the trail without incident.
Upon reaching the wagons, Sildar sets down Jared in the back of one and decides to spill the beans.

"Well, I see no problem with that." Sildar mumbles as he nods his head. "The more we have together, the better."
Then, if no-one objects, the party can continue on the path to Phandalin.
Along the way Jared wakes up, having rested the necessary time to return to 1 hp.
Sildar also explains to Prolvic about the prior deal the team had made.
