Hox's face start to pale. "H-Hox is free already, Hox already did what scary clan wanted. Must run, must run from scary clan man. He no give mercy to enemies!"
She pauses, undecided, hand on the pommel of her sword, then shakes her head. "Let the gnome climb and distract these forces! We are better off on the ground, without fire or falling to add to crossbow bolts! Kobold! Hox!" she shouts at him to snap him out of whatever reverie he's in. "Lead us through the small ways, or to a hiding place! Go!" And she will follow him, trusting his survival instinct and her own history, looking for the sort of spot authorities—especially those not familiar with a city, as she imagines these Slaadi to be—would be unlikely to find. She will also watch for the kind of urchin or street thug that would know his or her way around, and see what they are doing. All of this while fleeing and avoiding crossbow bolts!
Whee! Killian seems more alive than we've seen her yet.

OOC: @drebensd, no worries at all. Botting Marc to be following Zane to the rooftops.
The scene quickly descending into chaos, Zane climbs back to the rooftop of the Poetry Society. Gruun quickly follows, nearly falling from the lack of handholds before Zane reaches out to help him the rest of the way. Marc is the last one up, pulling his legs to the roof just in time to avoid a trio of spears from below. Some of the Stone Shields seem intent on following this group to the rooftops and begin to climb their way up as well. From here, nearby buildings could be jumped to in order to work your way away from the slums and the attack, though the jumps will not be easy.
Killian grabs Hox, pulling him from his frozen stance and a dozen incoming crossbow bolts. The blind dwarf from the tavern is cornered in an alcove further down the street, ineffectively throwing poetry-spewing jars at the approaching Stone Shields. "Two-faced bastards!" he shouts, just before he is impaled by a score of spears. A whimper nearby reveals the young half-elf that entered the tavern earlier to deliver a package, huddled in a corner and paralyzed with fright. Time is running out, and lingering here any longer will surely lead to the blind dwarf's fate. There is nowhere to hide in this alley, but the Stone Shields have not yet closed in on the Firestar Chariot Inn's alley where Fumbles fled, and that alley looks to be larger, with alcoves that could contain a place to run or hide.
That's the way Hox went before, so she shoves him before her that way, grabbing the half-elf up bodily and pushing him along, too. She will look to run, at this point, until they are further from the attack, before thinking about finding a place to hide.
Zane says, "Gruun, you will be our diversion. Make your best effort to leap and run away from danger. We will follow shortly, but invisibly. Be safe!" (and Zane gives bardic inspiration to Gruun). He will then cast Invisibility (on 3rd level) and disappear Marc and himself, then choose a spot on the roof that would seem out of the way of anyone coming or going or chasing Gruun. "It will last an hour, so just be super still and quiet" he tells Marc and sits himself down.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hox is shoved out of his stupor as he starts dashing down the alley, looking for a large enough hiding place. "Hide! Hide! Hide!"
Perception: 7
Once they're hidden away Hox will stay out for a bit longer to attract the guards attention. He'll empty his ball bearings onto the floor before hiding in a smaller alcove.
Seeing the situation get a bit too intense Marc will take out a piece of rope tossing it up and casting Rope Trick saying "Quickly climb up" before climbing up into the space and waiting until the last of the group has made it before pulling the rope up
On the rooftop, Zane places his hand on Marc, turning them both invisible, though Marc's invisibility immediately drops as he tosses his rope into the air. The rope rises the length of its 50 feet and standing rigid, and Marc begins climbing to its top, with Gruun close behind him. A number of Stone Shields begin climbing the building, though they struggle slightly without a tabaxi's natural claws.

Hox scans the alley as Killian grabs the half elf, looking for a place to hide. There is nowhere to hide in this alley, but there are multiple alcoves that could lead to tunnels and other alleys within the alley across the street, by the Firestar Chariot Inn. Getting there would require showing yourselves to the Stone Shields' main force, but as they close in there does not seem to be any other obvious solution.
The half-elf is clearly in shock, vigorously shaking his head and trying to prevent Killian from moving him along. At this rate there will be no way to outpace the Stone Shields with the half-elf in this state.
Zane sees the others start climbing and is sure that he can catch them before they reach the top, so he carefully looks over the side to observe the chasers and the rest of the party members. If it seems like it would help, he'll shout something in hopes to distract the enemies and immediately returns to a safer-looking place on the roof (staying invisible throughout all of this).
Once Gruun reaches the top he watches the rope for his invisible allies. Not seeing the rope swaying he whispers urgently "If these hide themselves with magic they might have means to see through such things. Come get off the roof, we don't need to fracture ourselves more than we are." If I see the rope start swaying with Zane climbing up I will begin hauling the rope up as well to pull him and it up into the space.
OOC: Thanks for the botting, I'm trying to keep up but feel free to keep things moving without me and I'll catch up when I can.
Hox points down a further down alcove, "Go, small one is problem." Once they're down into the alcove, Hox will head a back towards the main alley way and empty his ball bearings onto the floor leading to Killian. Afterwards he'll head down a different alcove, trying to use his speed to outrun the Stone Shields.
OOC: 'Diminutive' was the word, I believe. Smaller than a typical half-elf, but very unwilling to go along, and is thrashing about. You could certainly attempt to forcefully carry him, but keep in mind it will definitely slow you down, and there's not much time you can afford.
I'm holding Hox's ball bearing action until Killian makes it further, as it would currently only hamper her until she makes it to the Firestar Chariot Inn's alley.

Marc and Gruun get closer to the top of the rope, which easily holds both of their weights.
Hox dashes ahead of Killian, trying to reach the alcoves in the opposite alley, drawing a number of crossbow shots in the process. Three bolts strike the kobold's flesh, dealing 12, 4, and 7 piercing damage, but he reaches the Firestar Chariot Inn's alley well ahead of any Stone Shields, darting into an alcove. The alley is filled with trash, and wraps behind the inn, into a back lot. Zane shouts, drawing some attention in the Poetry Society alley from Killian and the struggling half-elf, but the Stone Shields quickly turn their attention back to the paladin.
Unfortunately for the half-elf, Killian isn't the caring sort of paladin. She mentally shrugs, then lets the half-elf loose in the street and dashes across after Hox, using her shield to help block any crossbow bolts. "Kobold!" she hisses, and assuming he has slowed with all his wounds, she will touch him and lay on hands as her action, bestowing 10 hp to Hox to keep him on his feet. She is not interested in hiding this close to the Stone Shields, "Go, I will follow still!"
Zane will scramble up the rope once he sees it's clear. He will use Feline Agility and his action to Dash as well. (Should be a total of 60ft of climbing)

Killian races across the street to join Hox in the opposite alley, crossbow bolts falling harmlessly against her shield and to her side. The half-elf, still shaking his head in shock, backs into the Poetry Society building, nearly into a mass of Stone Shields. As the kobold darts back out of the alcove to empty his bag of ball bearings behind Killian, the paladin bestows some healing. A half dozen Stone Shields close in, but the ball bearings allow the duo to gain some ground. The alcove leads to a tunnel of sorts that must connect the alley to another. It continues forward, and also branches to the left.
On the rooftop, Gruun hauls the rope up, pulling Zane in to the dimensional space that Marc has created. From within this space the trio watches as Stone Shields reach the roof closely behind them and investigate the roof, shouting. "There is no way we lost them that quickly! Are they invisible? Check the area!"
The district has quickly fallen to chaos. The street is filled with carnage and buildings have begun to burn.
Hox leads Killian to the left, exiting an alcove into a small lot behind the Firestar Chariot Inn. There is a small shack ahead, leaning slightly to the right, with firewood piled up on one side. Heading across the lot, the duo use the shack as cover from a line of a dozen Stone Shields perfectly. Another alcove is across the lot.
Tracking: There is a door on the small shack. There is an alcove across the lot.
