OOC: It's a little bit of both, Killian's background as an urchin gives her advantage, which cancels out the disadvantage from her armor. But, these are group checks, so Hox's +10 is doing a world of good.
Hox listens at the door of the shack, motioning Killian to crouch by the firewood a moment before the group of Stone Shields walks back toward the previous alcove. No sounds emanate from within the shack.
Tracking: There is a door on the small shack. There is an alcove across the lot.
"No, keep moving. Hide when far enough. But good way to attract attention and lose ours." Hox takes his tinderbox out and starts to light the firewood. "When lit, we move, let grow, attract guards here while we get away."

Hox Stealth: 27 Killian Stealth: 15
With no good source of kindling nearby, the thick wood a few nervous minutes to alight, though in the tense moment with the sounds of death and screaming throughout the slums it seems like hours. Hox has to silently navigate around the building multiple times with Killian during the attempt, and when it finally begins to catch flame, nearly walks right into another patrol of ten Stone Shields. Circling back around the building, the pair time their exit with the alerted sound of the Stone Shields, and use the distraction to dart into the next alley, finally heading away from the slums.

Hours pass before the insanity settles in the now-ruined slums of the city. The dimensional pocket above the Poetry Society fades after an hour, and though the rooftop is free of Stone Shields, another hour or two pass while Gruun, Marc and Zane wait for the guards to depart the slums entirely.
For Gruun, Marc, and Zane:
As you wait atop the roof, an imp appears, throws a crumpled note in your direction, and disappears just as quickly, grumbling something about a "Ritska".
For Hox and Killian:
Navigating the alleys is not difficult with Killian's knowledge of the layout of cities. No more Stone Shields arrive to give chase, and though the activity in the slums is far from over when you exit, it seems the danger has passed for the two of you.
An hour or two later, while fires still rage in the slums, an imp appears in front of you, tosses a crumpled note in your direction, and disappears in a blink, grumbling something about a "Ritska".
OOC: Each character has received 100 XP for investigating the Poetry Society, and 1,000 XP for escaping the Stone Shields' attack.
The notes each have a single word written on them:
Helmeet
OOC: With the attack over, you are free to explore Sundabar. Keep in mind that both groups are separated across the city and it might not be easy to find each other.
Your knowledge of Sundabar from your time in the city:
The Master's Hall: The Master's Hall is a crowded cluster of huge round stone towers, their battlements bristling with heavy catapults and ballistae. Sundabar expects attacks and stands ready for them, and use to refer to itself as "the rock that shatters orc skulls and dragon jaws alike," as the now-dead Master Thulntarn once put it—that saying has fallen out of circulation in recent years. An elite company of two hundred Shieldsar known as the Master's Guard mans the Master's Hall. Offices of many different boards, guilds, and councils crowd the building.
Notable Businesses: Visitors will find over a dozen superb woodcarvers and carpentry shops around the Circle. Sundabar boasts dozens of workers in wood and as many smiths who are capable of masterwork. Its taverns tend to be rough or rundown. Inns tend to be spartan; the exceptions here are Baldiver's (a sprawling castle where old warriors are welcomed, and quiet guests preferred, The Firestar Chariot (a place of loud revelry every night, Malshym's House (a quiet, clean, place popular with visiting merchants, and The Trumpet (a luxurious place where guests requesting privacy are left alone, popular with adventurers.
Major Temples: As one might expect, the worship of militant deities and those deities who stand for law, strength, and duty is popular in Sundabar. Temples to most deities in the dwarven pantheon, particularly Moradin, can be found in the hidden halls of the undercity.
The Hall of Everlasting Justice: Sundabar's temple to Tyr and Torm is a fortress-like building facing on the Circle, across from the Master's Hall. The clerics serve with the Shieldsar, providing healing and battle-magic for Sundabar’s soldiers.
The Hall of Vigilance: The local house of Helm, this building is both austere and imposing.
"Who? Who? Temple? Meet demon?" This is not Hox's strong suit. "Vigilance bad, hard to take things. Head back to inn? Cat man is smarter, might know this Ritska." Hox points to Firestar Chariot.
Zane suggests that they try to find Hox and Killian, hoping they are still alive. "I can try to locate them.. or what's left of them" he says grimly and thinks for a bit of a fairly unique item Hox might be carrying or wearing. He will then cast Locate Object to see if they are nearby and head that way.
"Aren't we a pair? Fine, perhaps there will be someone there I can beat about the head for answers." She and Hox will make their way, carefully, back towards the inn.

Hox and Killian begin to work their way back toward the slums and the Firestar Chariot Inn. Word has spread quickly throughout the town, and the pair hear many rumors along the way from civilians gazing to the still-smoking slums.
"Arsonists, they said. The Stone Shields were sweeping the slums and the traitors set fire to the whole district." "Can't say I don't blame 'em for tryin' somtin'. I kent be sittin' on me arse for another month."

She nods, with a little admiration for the kobold, and not a little chagrin that she didn't think of that. She prepares to move when Hox does.
