Vappa, I moved you to F6 because the Captains are above you on the Quarterdeck and you wouldn't have been able to target him unless you went up the stairs at square G6.
The Pirate Captain will move to square E5, provoking an attack of opportunity from Cpt. Red Skies. It hits for 6 points of damage. He will then attempt a two-handed attack against Vappa with his longsword. It also hits for 6 points of damage.
Cpt. Red Skies will then fire her pistol at the Pirate Captain. She rolled well, the shot hits for max damage of 12 points. She will then move to square E4 and attempt two attacks with her rapier. The first crits for 15 points of damage and the Pirate Captain falls to the deck!
With a groan that turns to a chuckle, the Giff turns over and you see a black object in his hand. He coughs, blood dribbling from his mouth and says "If I go down... I'm taking you with me!" and he pulls the pin on the grenade, fragmentation he's holding!
Vappa, I need you to make a Dexterity saving throw (with advantage) as the grenade tumbles to the deck at your feet. Cpt. Red Skies makes the save (with disadvantage) and takes 8 points of piercing damage as she tackles you away from the blast.
Vappa, the blast erupts at your feet before Cpt. Red Skies can tackle you out of the way. You take 17 points of piercing damage and are dying. The Misty Matron also takes 17points of piercing damage.
Seldor's up next, followed by Lady Susanne, then Strife.
Pirate 4 (White) at square M3 is the only remaining enemy.
Seldor, Lady Susanne, and Strife, the combined damage from your attacks finishes off the Pirate!
The Pirate goes down bleeding and burning. Captain Red Skies descends the steps from the quarterdeck with an arm around Vappa, assisting him as he carefully sits down on the deck with a hiss. "You two." As she points to Seldor and Strife"Toss the bodies in the sea. Start with the flaming one." Captain Red Skies then turns to Lady Susanne"Lady Susanne, help Vappa get below deck and have Mr. Stol attend to both of your wounds." She then removes her tricorn hat and shakes out her hair. Rubbing her eyes, Captain Red Skies then looks out toward the rising sun and says "I need a drink."
The next three days and two nights pass uneventfully. On the night of the third day, a thick fog begins to settle around the Misty Matron...
The party gains a level! Feel free to select a feat instead of an ability score increase if you so choose.
The moment the pirate falls to the ground dead, Strife would snap his fingers and extinguish the flames with control flames before looting the corpse and dragging it to the edge of the ship. The Kobold would then help Seldor loot and toss the other pirate overboard as well, struggling quite a bit with the weight of the bodies. Seldor ends up doing most of the work as the small spindly kobold manages to lift one leg of each of the corpses. "I should have let the body burn a while longer... it would be a lot lighter that way..." The kobold would say grunting and cursing as he tries his hardest to move the bodies.
Strife, you manage to find a few golden earrings and teeth as you search the bodies of the Pirates. Ripping the earrings free and prying the teeth loose with your dagger, you accumulate a pile worth 5gp. In addition, a few of the Pirates wore jeweled rings and carried small coin pouches. You manage to find an additional 15gp worth of miscellaneous loot before shoving the bodies overboard.
Lady Susanne and Vappa, it's your turn to keep watch tonight.
The usually clear summer night has been occluded by a dense fog that has settled all around the Misty Matron. Visibility is reduced to no more than 5ft. and all sound is muted, causing your heart to quicken its pace as you become disoriented and uneasy. Strange sounds surround you, their origins lost in the fog. A step-thump, step-thump to your left causes you to swing your head around and call out into the hazy void. You cautiously creep forward and find nothing but the starboard railing. A heavy chain rattles and clanks sullenly behind you. You swing around and again find nothing… You look down and a dark shape on the deck catches your eye. A large puddle of water where there was none before, a trail of dark drops leading away into the fog…
Strife would go to work, ripping out teeth and earrings. A small smile would spread across his face as he collects the grisly trophies and puts the 20g total worth of teeth, earrings, rings, and loose coins in a bag. After collecting the loot, Strife would hesitantly ask his companions if they would like some of the treasures, "Hey... I uhh... I found a few things on these pirates... some teeth and bloody earings and things.. you probably don't want them but if you do you can have some... not all of them... but you can have some..." he would say...not wanting to part with the beginnings of a new dragons horde... but also trying to be fair. Once he had divided up the loot with anyone that wanted any, the kobold would collapse against the mast of the ship and lower his tricorn hat down over his eyes and take a short rest... clutching his side hoping that after a quick nap.. maybe his wounds wouldn't hurt so much.
(fast forward and Strife is sleeping in his bed now lol. Posting at the same time is the worst :D)
Vappa, you draw your blade and take care to avoid the puddle of water as you slowly step through the fog. Your senses strain for input and you hear a thumping sound behind you and to your left. You spin around a hold your blade before you to find a lantern knocking against the main mast, its flame flickering weakly in the gloom. Suddenly, a moaning sound comes from somewhere just beyond your range of vision and a gust of wind extinguishges the lanterns flame... You spin around, trying to find the source of the moan and see a dark shape standing against the ships's railing. Two golden orbs stare at you through the dense fog...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing the dark puddle and trail Lady Susanne calls to Vappa, "There is something here on the deck, it left a trail that way...I will start to follow it but stay back a little in case we need to go for help." Lady Susanne then proceeds slowly sword drawn and shield out.
Perception :18
She is also going to use her Divine Sense ability if she sees anything.
Lady Susanne, the sense of undead evil smothers the Misty Matron much like the fog. You sense spirits suffused with rage and hate swarming the seas around the ship. They are too many too count. Like a candlelight in the darkness, you also sense a point of benevolent protection and warding. It's emenating from a dark figure that you can't quite make out. The figure is standing against the Portside railing. You see another shape cautiously approaching it with weapon drawn.

Vappa will slowly pull out his shortsword as he cautiously makes his way around the deck. Keeping an ear out for anything.
