You wait in a short line, and eventually get to the front.
The pies are surprisingly pricey, at 1g each. They are golden brown and delicious-looking, though, and they smell like heaven. How many do you want?
The young woman, lovely in her blue peasant dress on this fall morning, appears flattered at your attention. She gathers your pies and curtsies before she speaks.
Coffee? Later in the day, at the Blue Water. I do have this warmed cider, have as much as you'd like.
We've just finished the Wolf's Festival. Long parade, with townspeople carrying the heads of wolves mounted on pikes. It was so impressive! I think it's to remind us that we will be ok. All will be well! Next week is the Festival of the Blazing Sun.
You are looking for Blinsky's Toys, just around the corner that way. She points to the far end of the square.
“Every week, just about, m’lord. Keeps spirits up. The burgomaster says it keeps us safe. Being happy is the best defense, he says. All will be well. Would any of your friends like pies? On account of you bought one already, I’ll give you four more for just 3 gold. It’s good, am I right?”
Lucento gets pies as well, washing one down with apple cider. He makes a bit of small talk with the young lady (feel free to add questions if you want) and learns that her name is Naomi.
The pie is delicious! It has a dense, sticky, mildly sweet filling, with a flaky crust. The line is long behind you, as you turn to leave.
You could share the other 3 pies with your friends in the party, if you want. Assuming you offer, Ireena takes one and eats it hungrily.
The party makes its way to the far end of the town square - it's roughly the size of a football field, and you go to the other end - and discovers the intersection Naomi described to you. This end of the square is somewhat gloomier, with a gallows and several sets of stocks on prominent display. There are four sets of stocks, one of which is occupied by a man, uncomfortable on his knees, with head and hands coming through the slots. Apparently, as part of his punishment his head is covered with a hood.
You make your way to Blinsky's shop.
This cramped shop has a dark entrance portico, above which hangs a wooden sign shaped like a rocking horse, with a “B” engraved on both sides. Flanking the entrance are two arched, lead-framed windows. Through the dirty glass, you see jumbled displays of toys and hanging placards bearing the slogan “Is No Fun, Is No Blinsky!”
You walk in and a chime softly dings over your heads. Surveying the room, you see shelves all around. They are not full, but they are modestly populated by a number of bizarre dolls:
A headless doll that comes with a sack of attachable heads, including one with its eyes and mouth stitched shut
A miniature gallows, complete with trapdoor and a weighted “hanged man”
A set of wooden nesting dolls; the smaller each one gets, the older it gets, until the innermost doll is a mummified corpse
A wood-and-string mobile of hanging bats with flapping wings
A wind-up musical merry-go-round with figures of snarling wolves chasing children in place of prancing horses
A ventriloquist’s dummy that looks like Strahd von Zarovich
A doll that looks remarkably like Ireena
There is an open door into a workshop in the back, and you hear movement back there; likely somebody coming to respond to the chime.
edit: If anyone wants to turn back the clock and talk to Naomi more, or do something on the way to Blinsky's Toys (I don't recommend trying to free the man in stocks, but you can certainly try), or get a pie from Lucento or whatever, then just say so.
Føpé has never seen that sort of punishment before and goes to approach the fellow in the stocks, if nobody stops him. That man seems to need our help.
Lucento would like to turn back time to briefly ask Naomi if she herself is responsible for these delicious pies, how long she has been living here, and why the guards don’t open the gates at night. (If the line for pies is too long to ask all three, just the first one).

OK, so I guess we can roll back a bitTimes must be good in Valliki if townfolks line up for super expensive pastries I mean that's a pretty f***ing good milkshake. I don't know if it's worth five dollars but it's pretty f***ing good.
BTW: Lucento, when we came to this region we were greeted by the Vishanti. They seemed to have some influence over who comes and goes here. They did a card reading that went like this (reference the OP for details) We've found a few links to what's gone on and maybe an ally in Ireena's brother, Ismark if we can get her to safety..there are also hints to other things that may help us. This town may not be enough protection for her, she has some sort of involuntary connection to Strahd, the spooky count who rules this area so we might be moving on to a more secure town further up the road
On our way to the pastry cart Kif sees Føpé addressing the poor soul in the stocks
Føpé this might seem a bit cruel on the face of it, but we should understand what landed this person in the stocks and also what kind of government is in place here, I'd hate for a simple misunderstanding to land us in the stocks next to this poor man.
Sotto Voce "Føpé I appreciate your caring, but I think things might be under some tight observation around here. I think we might want to pick the right moment when we land in hot water and this isn't it. lets go get a better grasp of the land before we blow shit up

1 very expensive pie please, and some cider to wash it down
Wow, seems like you folk have a lot of festivals

And indeed it was.
Kif would like to see if she's as enthusiastic as she seems 7 insight
Burgomaster?
Lucento leans in toward the pies and takes a deep breath through his nose. Insight 22
“Like a king, but just for the town.” She seems to be a young townsperson selling pies to contented customers.
"Well, I’m not one to turn down pie, certainly not pies as impressive as these." Lucento passes the young woman 3g.

<sotto voce> Umm Ireena, is that you? Have you been here before? </sotto voce>
Hello, is there anyone about?
Føpé has never seen that sort of punishment before and goes to approach the fellow in the stocks, if nobody stops him. That man seems to need our help.
Fope hears a muffled voice from under the hood: “Please go away!”

Oh, and what the hell is in these pies?

1. She and her sisters bake the pies, using grandma’s secret recipe. You would guess it involves condensed milk and sugar.
2. All her life.
3. It’s dangerous out there!
4. If she told you grandma’s secret recipe, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore!
Perception: 5
I'd like to give one of the other players more time to stop Føpé from doing something stupid before I commit.

Kif urges Føpé on past the stocks
We'll get to the bottom of this, trust us
There are a couple of armed guards in the square. You’d probably get caught.
Føpé accept Kif's guidance and moves on.
Lucento, buy this boy a pie
