Hildigrim scowls at Pascal. "Beef? The signs are all females, but of chicken, sheep, horse, deer and pig. No cow. But if we're talking about eating, horse would be the odd one." The halfling snickers. "Where was the third sign. Mare is the third sign. Glue is made from horses. Shall we stick to picking the third sign?" He sputters, then clears his throat as he shrugs. "They also rhyme."
(OOC: I should have asked for an INT check before giving a clue like that. It is not obvious that the signs are interconnected, the first time through.
I wouldn't be surprised if the group failed a few times before figuring out the right answer. But with play-by-post, that amount of time might be too frustrating, so I''ve been cutting a few corners.)

Drusk shrugs. "The first signpost only had 2 choices, not 3. I don't think the ordering of the choices on any particular signpost is the key."
(OOC: That is another free hint... The penalty for being wrong is annoying, but relatively minor, so if you are stuck, just plow ahead to get more of the puzzle.)

Jorin says the words aloud, "Right Where...Ewe, perhaps we are making a sentence? Ewe sounds like you. Perhaps we pick Ewe and the next set of signs might give another word, like Belong, or Should...Right Where Ewe (You) should go, or belong, or something like that?"
Jorin's intense brainstorming raises the morale of the party.
The party goes down the path marked by the EWE sign.
After a minute, you come to a fourth crossroads. At this one, the path divides into four options. There’s another signpost here with arrows to each of the paths. The four signs are labeled: SEED, NEED, FEED, BLEED.

Quillary chews on the end of her club. "One more than two is three, and 'bee' has three letters. At least, in common. In Elvish it is four characters, nion, and in Sylvan, it is unclear what kind of bee you speak of, or to. In other languages I know it is more a concept than a word. But yes, 'bee' seems like a fine choice."

The party goes down the path marked by the BEE sign.
After a few seconds, you hear a roaring wind, and the temperature drops. Something like an icy tornado is coming at the party... but veers off just before reaching you. It continues whirling down the path behind you, and disappears into the fog.
OOC: In case you were curious -
If you chose the wrong set of 6 paths, the Howling Wind would do 5 damage (halved with a DEX save), and then send you back to the start. Each time through, the wrong "paths" that were picked would be removed, so it isn't impossible.
Normally, I chose "left" when given a choice of left or right in a maze, so it was good that the party didn't have to listen to me.
The party continues walking for several minutes, without seeing any more signposts, so it seems that particular test is over.
The fog lightens enough for you to barely make out the shape of a large hill through the mist. The sides are steeply sloped with parts being exposed white cliffs. (Although steep, the hill side is not vertical.) The path circles around the hill, climbing up to its summit. (The path is 10' wide, and the incline is gentle enough that it doesn't count as Difficult terrain.) The summit is 120' higher in height than the base.
