Still feeling jovial, but attempting to sound business-like, Hildigrim says, "I suggest we pay a visit to the palace. A few of us are supposed to check in concerning the Fiddly Pig's demise. And we can report the safe return of Sir Floon and what we witnessed in the sewers. We may even run into Lord Neverember or Master Geddarm, who I'm sure would like to know their friend is returned safely."
Jorin's frown wicking turns into a smile as he smells the pleasant odor of Mead wafting from his person. "Well Hildi, I am not very wanting mead, but I suppose a stop by the palace would not be the worst idea. Let us go, and then feast to our victory after!"
"Disagree. Go to the inn first, drop off Floozy with the person who hired us (Volo), and get paid for our work. Then those who want to go to the palace can do so with less baggage."

As you make your way back to the Yawning Portal, you notice that it is cold, and the wind is swirling. Clouds are gathering to the north, and you expect some weather, maybe snow, is in the offing. Floon, poorly dressed after three days in captivity, begins to shiver, but when you arrive the tavern is warm and cheery inside.
Molly greets you as you enter, "Welcome back, and with a new friend. Master Volo, your friends are here!" she calls out. As you are deciding about whether to sit or not, Volo comes running over, dodging a few of the patrons still here after lunch, or already here for dinner.
"Floon!" he shouts, joyously. They hug, and Volo pats him all over to make sure he's in one piece. Floon starts to tell him of his adventure, but Volo shushes him and turns to you. "Thank you! You are heroes this day, such as I will write about in books to come! I am so grateful! Here, sit, sit! I am sure Durnan will be happy to feed such a crew!" And he smiles at Molly, who looks skeptical, but gamely asks, "Can I get you all something to drink? Something... cheap?"

Durnan is nowhere to be seen, but Bonnie, the other server, comes over to Molly. "I remember me," she says in her accented Common, "That Durnan said they have drinks free now and ever. But Volo no." The author's smile fades a little, but he pulls up a chair to your now crowded table as Molly and Bonnie go to get your drinks and food.
You tell your tale as your food comes, and Floon makes up for the ale he didn't keep down earlier. Finally, Volo notes his friend's condition (Exhausted, little food, lots of alcohol) and starts to make excuses to go. "Yes, well, I um, should see Floon to his room, he has had quite the ordeal." He stands up, hesitantly.

OOC > Well, I've just read back, and it appears he did pay you ten gold apiece, and handed the gold out, but there's a little matter of his undying gratitude...
"Oh, I would not presume to leave you empty handed! I have, um, I am a little short on cash, you know how it is in the writing trade, always subject to the fancies of the day! But, I have taken the liberty of securing for you a fine gift, an appreciation of all you have done!" And with a flourish he whips out a scroll, handing it with a wide grin and beaming eyes to Hildigrim.
Hildigrim unrolls it and finds that it is a deed... to a tavern... in the North Ward. He's never heard of it. Better (or worse) yet, all of your names are affixed to the bottom, and it is signed, and marked with the seal of the city! It appears Volothamp Geddarm has given you a tavern!
The document calls the place Trollskull Manor.

"Me now!" says a little girl standing behind Pascal. "I wanna smell like muffins!!!" Her mother comes back and pulls her away from the scary people.
Floon still smells bad. Where are you all going?

Ilena leans up against the outer wall of the Spouting Fish, sniffing her clothes contentedly while the others discuss their plans.

Hildigrim thinks for a moment. "Ah, yes, Master Volo did say he would wait at the Portal. Thank you, Drusk, for remembering."
OoC - oh, that's ok. For some reason I was thinking that Floon was supposed to be returned to the palace.
(OOC: I assumed that Volo was at the inn, but I wasn't sure. I figured if I remembered it wrong, one of you would point that out.) :-)

Hildigrim indeed orders something cheap. He isn't picky. He also orders something to snack on. Maybe a whole roasted chicken.
