"Hang on," says Laniel before Morph can put the mask on. "I don't think that is going to work. We won't know if we get the same answer twice when he answers Morph and he answers me because we got unlucky or because it is the truth. I think the original plan is best. Each person asks one question three times, unless the first two answers are the same."
"The idea three of us - morph, you, and I - each ask the same three questions. So we have three answers to each question..." Rethan says, then stops for a moment. "Though I just realized that doesn't actually help, because there's no guarantee whether he tells the truth or lies int he answer for a given question each time. So if we have 2 answers that match and one different, we don't know for sure if it's 2 lies and a truth or two truths and a lie. Going back to asking the same question three times is probably the better idea, assuming it's allowed. If not, it might require some more thought..."
Turning back to Morph, Rethan says, "I'd go with the same question three times to see if he'll allow it. If you can't repeat the same question, then go ahead and ask each of the three questions." After a few more moments of thought, he adds, "if two of us ask each of the three questions, then compare answers afterwards, there's a couple possibilities. We coud get the same answer to each of the three questions, which means he told the same lie in each case and doesn't help us. Or we could have 1 answer that matches, and two that are different. Which would mean that the one matching answer was the truth, since it didn't change, and the other two contain the truth and the lie. Doesn't give us all three answers for sure, but could at least figure out one for certain."
Titus, normally a disciplined sentinel, stands silently for a long while with his mouth agape, and his eyes glazing over. His guard is now down as his shield and battleaxe hang limply at hi sides. He stands bewildered as he considers the matrix of possibilities of their situation which had pitted them in this riddle against the invisible wizard. He was, momentarily, overcome by it.
After a long time pondering the question, the big Dragonborn finally snaps out of his stuppor.
“I… believe that asking the same question 3 times is best, at least to start this off and see how he answers.
I would question him three times regarding the whereabouts of Krennic: ‘where is Krennic, how do we find Krennic, what path did Krennic take’ how does that sound?”

"Ok, right yeah, good idea. So the first person tries to ask the same question three times, but if that isn't allowed, then they ask the three most important questions."
As before, Morphappears in a stone-constructed room with a misty doorway behind him and the Mad Mage in front of him, sitting below a portrait of himself. This time he says nothing but his eyes focus on Morphexpectantly.
The Mad Mage very subtly smirks, "Martus Krennic is currently camping near the exit of the second level of my magnificent maze. And I don't think he even realizes it."
Then Halaster spontaneously dissolves into an orange-brown slush, which begins to slowly fade away.

Rethan nods. "That seems like the most important. Morph, you want to go first since you've already been in there?"
"Right sure, ok, so we each ask the same 3 questions and compare afterwards."
"So question one, 'What level of Undermountain is Master Krennic currently located on?'."
"Two, 'Who are those travelling with Master Krennic through Undermountain, right now?'."
"Three, 'What are the directions to walk, to get to the second level of Undermountain, from the here?'."
Morph nods,
"Ok, I'm going in, wish me luck."
Morph steps forward, holding the mask to his face, so he can see the statue again.

"Ok, right yeah, good idea. So the first person tries to ask the same question three times, but if that isn't allowed, then they ask the three most important questions."
"So what questions do we want to ask then?"

Rethan nods his agreement.
"Ok, so I'm going to try asking the first question three times, but if I cant, I will ask each of the three question we have agreed upon."
Morph takes a deep breath.
"Wish me luck."
Morph holds up the mask and steps into the alcove to look at the statue.

Morph:
As before, Morph appears in a stone-constructed room with a misty doorway behind him and the Mad Mage in front of him, sitting below a portrait of himself. This time he says nothing but his eyes focus on Morph expectantly.
"Ah, right, so, my first question is, where in Undermountain, including what level, would I find Master Krennic right now?"
Morph stands nervously on the other side of the room from the Mad Mage, waiting to see if the question will be accepted.

Morph:
"Martus Krennic is presently camped on the third level of my magnificent maze."
Morph nods his head and swallows a lump in his throat before attempting to ask the same question again.
"Ok, my second question is, where in Undermountain, including what level, would I find Master Krennic right now?"
Morph braces himself for the response.

In a nearly identical tone, the Mad Mage says, "Martus Krennic is presently camped near the exit of the second level of my magnificent maze."

"Right, my third question is, where in Undermountain, including what level, would I find Master Krennic right now?"
