OOC: The ogre is around 150 feet away standing behind the catapults.
There is no response to Tanakir through the sending stones, and from the sixth floor Wes and Tanakir see each of the three catapults fire, sending an orc arcing through the air toward the seventh floor window. The trajectory is true, but the orcs fall short of the seventh floor, slamming against the tower wall.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Meanwhile on the third floor(?):
Rycider will pace in front of the captives. She gives them a sweet smile then while she is walking she will push back her hair triggering a transformation starting at her hair and working down Disguise Self. Her hair becomes jet black and slicked back across her now very pale skin. Her homespun dress transforms into dark purple robes trimmed with blood red symbols. Her frame is slimmer but essentially she looks to be the same Rycider but one that took a very different path.
I don't suppose the disguise matters much now Her voice is the same but strangely different, as though it comes from far away. The original plan was to only sacrifice about half of you and the rest could spread the word. She looks whimsically to the ceiling. but it seems circumstances have changed. Soon Our Lord Mahatzaven she makes a complex sign across her chest will arise from the depths and claim the lands of beast and men. We shall all live a new world of fire and darkness. Feel blessed that your lives will bring about a reckoning that this world has never before known.
She notices her dulcimer in a box and picks it up, strumming a slow beat, out of key.
At first, it appears that the orcs are simply dying against the tower walls, but a quick look out of the sixth floor window shows that they are equipped with some sort of climbing gear and, though some of them have indeed fallen and died, others are making their way up the tower wall in waves.
The muffled screams of the prisoners on the fifth floor caused by Rycider's terrifying display are interrupted by the somber voice of Fumbles over the green sending stones.
"We're in. The vault is open. Everyone retreat to me."
OOC: Each character has received 300 XP for capturing the NAGPU goblins without killing any while keeping a guard watching them at all times, 300 XP for disguising the raid's motive and the party's identity, and 1,000 XP for successfully delaying the orc army long enough for Fumbles to open the Vault.
Rejoined, the party emerges from the staircase on the seventh floor and walks down one of the hallways to the room where Fumbles was last seen hard at work unlocking the vault.
Fumbles looks over his shoulder at you as you enter, an intense look on his face, sweat pouring in droplets from his chin to the floor. He gulps and turns back to the vault. Where a wall once was, there is now a very large room, dark and covered in arcane glyphs. A pentagram is marked across the floor, and at each point sits a twisted, hunched, green scaled creature with a single large eye; they seem to be completely entranced, staring at the center of the room at a massive cage which looks to be made of the same staffs found on the fifth floor.
Inside of the cage is a horrible creature that you have only heard spoken of in hushed, feared tones, even from the greatest of adventurers - a beholder. A large floating eyeball, whatever color it once held is now blackened and burnt; its scales are curled and separating from its spherical form, apparently from some intense heat. Its eye stalks are charred and useless, but its central eye is sealed over with a silver plate with a star constellation carved into it.
Its voice booms in the center of your minds, "Ask your questions."
Great Maglubiyets Bloomers! Ah do so hate it when ah stumble upon half truths. So much for making a pretend summonin' circle. Ricky looks forlornly at the members of the party.
Alright Sweetie, my question is, how do I safely get out and away from this tower in the next five minutes? Sorry boys.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Each question brings an answer booming into the minds of everyone in the room.
Tanakir: "Those to which I know the answer."
Rycider: "Follow your leader."
Wes: "It is not known to me. The portraits search your mind for the memories which you hold most dear. To prevent the descent."
Karst: "All that you need is within this room."
Fumbles shakes himself out of his stupor, asking questions of his own, the answer to each spoken telepathically to all.
"What is Doramor's plan?" "To kill you all."
"What is Doramor doing?" "Bringing true love to the world."
"What is Denorian's real plan?" "Both Denorians prepare for the descent."
His voice grows more frantic. "What is coming?" "Love."
"...what is its name?"
The beholder's response is a horrible screeching sound that racks your brains. Without even knowing it, everyone has been knocked to the floor, taking 15 psychic damage.
Fumbles drags himself to his knees slowly, asking desperately, "How do we fight it?" The answer is spoken clearly into your minds. "Staffs of the Magi."
"Then we need them. All of them," Fumbles says. The gnome becomes frantic at this, charging into the center of the pentagram toward the staffs that make up the beholder's cage.
OOC: This point is another of the "social encounters", where character responses will shape the direction the story takes. How does each character respond to the situation, in either first or third person?
Aradurk pushes back to his feet, walks over and puts his hand on Fumbles' shoulder: "What are you doing? That seems like a dangerous plan - letting that thing out!"

"Fumbles! How do you know this is true, you could be freeing something dangerous and powerful, take a moment to compose yourself, if you are still sure we are with you but reflect for a second." Seeing Aradurk move up to the gnome Karst moves nearby but doesn't get in the way. He is ready to act if it becomes clear there is danger.

Wes thinks to himself again trying the mental connection once more. “What is the descent, what is this love you speak of?”
As he thinks this he rushes forward with Fumbles in an attempt to get a staff for himself, also helping Fumbles. “Today is not my day to die!” He says out loud.
Petunia appears at Wes’ hands, clawing frantically at the staffs in attempt to help.
"This is nothing compared to what is coming!" Fumbles turns, desperation in his voice. "Karst, I know we haven't always seen eye to eye, but you have to trust me. Consider it repayment for falsely accusing me of murder. All will be lost if we do not succeed here today, everything! I don't know what will happen but we need these Staffs! Help Wes!"

Ricky calmly picks up her carpet bag and dulcimer and makes her way to the seventh floor.
Tanakir takes one last look at the suicidal orcs before shaking his head and moving to the seventh floor.
Wes follows suit, making his way up to the seventh floor.
Karst shrugs, slightly disappointed not to have any orcs trying to break down the door.
"Seven" he calls to the stairs as he ascends to join the others.

Wes thinks to himself attempting to use whatever telepathic connection there is.
“What happened to my grandfather Clarence Fiddletum and why is there a bunch of pictures hanging up of him? What’s Fumbles’ end game?”
"What strength lies in this tower that we can use to defeat our adversaries, and how do we acquire it?" Karst asks of the beholder.
