You're all standing in front of the abandoned tower. The outer door has a tiny peephole with a closed iron shutter on the inside. You open the door and step inside. Rotting tapestries adorn the walls, and mud and dirt have accumulated on the floor. To the side you see a longsword laying on the ground. Oddly, it's the only clean item in the room, with no traces of rust or blood on it. In front of you is another door.

Kestrell moves to the corner space at the bottom right, draws his bow and waits for someone to try the next door.  He'll ready a shot, triggered if he sees anything attack them.

"Leave the sword for now!"

Readied Attack: 22, damage: 8.

Selinae walked up to the door and kicked it open....or possibly off its hinges and into the next room...

Athletics: 27

"Someone knows we are coming and is watching us, since the Courthouse. I think they also know our capabilities as I can feel the touch of our holy Mother of Magic being stolen from me. Her power is drained and with it my ability, well our ability to use her magical gifts."

Elon's eyes get wide as he tries desperately to create a spark. He becomes frantic as he shakenly cocks his crossbow and backs up to the rear of the group.

"I'm powerless.....I'm powerless..." He repeats to himself.

Silver just looks at Elon "Get yourself together." with that he just looks around before moving past Kestrell to look over the sword and surrounding area for any traps, tracks, or traces of evidence.

"What's this now?  Where are your magics?"

"Something is blocking it, so don't be expecting any heals. Let's check this door."

At Selinae's kick, the door to the next room flies open and cracks against the wall on the other side. As you looking into the room you see stone spiral stairs curl up into the tower and down into the cellar. Set into the west wall is a fireplace blackened with soot. A burned heap that used to be a padded leather chair lies near the fireplace. On the south side of the room lays a sword identical to the one in the first room.

Selinae grinned, " Well, luckily I don't need magic....does that mean other folks in here can't use magic either?"

She padded over to examine the fireplace.

Investigation: 5

Kestrell follows Selinae, and takes a quick look through the ashes to see if anything is in the ashes, besides ashes... Investigation: 16.

Elon cautiously makes his way into the room and looks around.

Perception 11

Silver just looks for a second back at the sword in the room everyone was exiting as he decides to walk over to it "Interesting." he says deciding to take a closer look at the sword before picking it up.

OOC: no need to roll investigation or perception checks gang. As stated in #3628 we're using the ones you've already rolled.

Selinae, Kestrell, and Elon: you don't notice anything out of the ordinary.

Silver, the sword is in remarkably good condition compared to it's surroundings but is just a basic sword.

Kestrell goes over to the stairs, and then walks up them until he sees something.  "Let's go!"

Selinae follows Kestrell upstairs, " Are you sure you should be in front?  People don't heal as quickly at your age."

From the back of the group, a chuckle is heard from Elon at Selinae's comment.
