Having familiarized themselves with the town wandering its streets and spending their money, the party discuss their next steps over (an entirely vegetarian) dinner at the inn. The sun has dipped below the mountain peaks that surround Taur and the light is fading fast. From the window they can see a free-standing stone archway on the east side of town, right before buildings give way to farmland. Abyssal script is etched along the archway but Sark, the proprietor of The Mountain Oasis, assures them that their way out of Taur is at that archway. A portal is available if they are leaving before the light leaves the town. It is harder to get out of Taur once night falls, though.
(Meal costs: 3 sp each. Another 3 sp for lodging if that ends up the plan.)
(Love the "for a friend" thieve's tools purchase!)
Dog bought two more healing potions, the eversmoking bottle, and the immovable rod. Did people use up all the shares of gold/are they keeping the remainder? Is anything else going back into the pot?
He'll ask if there are any riding horses to buy in town, briefly flashing back to the horrorshow that was the horse buying quest, and remembering they don't have enough horses to carry everyone. If so, he'll ask if the horses could go through the portal, and if not, he'll ask Keyrie if she noticed any horses for sale on her sidequest.
Over the meal, Dog pulls some of the old books about beekeeping and house construction out of the bag of holding and hands them to Stones, who'd asked about them.
"Tock what is that rod you're playing with? What does it do?" he asks the kenku.
Dog asks Bulwark if he'd like the sentinel shield (adv on initiative and perception checks) they found in there. Dog has his magic shield and likes the extra protection.
Does Gash have the headband on? Dog will ask him about it, what it's like. He's excited and apprehensive to try his in two days. He'll start to leaf through Gash's old spellbook.
"So is our plan to catch up to Nev? Get to Masa after her? I assume we'll want to get this little one back to her mom as soon as we can. We can take the road with the horses and get going to try to catch up to her. We'll want to get a pebble or something from just outside the gate to be able to teleport back in a few days to pick up the things Gash and I ordered. But is that the plan? Do we want to get going after we eat or do we need to sleep here and lose more time?"
"I... understand. Once we get the people who need the help moving quickly to our destination, as far as I'm concerned, the horses we were told to get can go free. Personally I always feel bad trying to get on a horse -- they may barely feel the load when someone smaller wants to ride them but there's no way it's fun carrying me."
"yeah, I'm ready to get out of here. I have to come back in two days and then a tenday after that. And they keep disrespecting FeyTok. Simply, being alive doesn't make you worthy. A coward can stay alive...I can ride a horse, I'm light. Getting a passenger carriage or cart in addition to the one we have might be good for us. And we mustn't forget FeyTok, tonight we will celebrate him... in fact... can I borrow the bag of holding? I need to make another purchase before we go."
Gash heads back to the tavern, "Sark. I'd like enough fine liquor to help five miscreants deal with loss -- and whatever you have that has its best shot at getting a warforged drunk."
Gash plops the bag on the counter ready to load it up.
(ooc: i know we have Genny back but we'll figure out how to babysit her. I learned Tiny Hut so she should be safe.)

Gash- Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
Dog says, "Gash, we could try the casks of wine and mead we picked up in Merxina's storerooms. Roll of the dice as to whether they're good, but now's as good a time as any for us to try. And don't worry about babysitting -- it would take more than a cask or two to get a Goliath drunk. But don't let me stand between you and fine liquor."
I was waiting for others to weigh in -- I'm also not sure about the logistics of leaving the town (I keep picturing it in like a mountain valley?) through the physical gate, to just outside the town, and then they make a portal for us from wherever we are to some place on the road nearish to where we left the road/where Keyrie dropped the horses, and then we continue on the road? I also don't really get the timing on getting to Nev - do we know how much time we have to get to her, and how long walking on horseback there will take?
(Taur is in a valley nestled in the middle of a circle of mountains. Getting in or out via mountain passes looks possible but not easy. A portal seems to be the primary means of leaving the valley. As to your last questions, no, you don't. :) I'll have an updated map for you upon reaching the Long Road. Until then, you are stuck with not knowing!)
If Genny is up for traveling to her mom faster than slower, and is okay sitting on Dog's shoulders, Keyrie's wildshaped back, and who knows what else, then Dog's fine with leaving right away. Before we go, he will not forget to grab that pebble from just outside the town to be able to teleport back. He wants that headband to be able to try out his new role as Smart Dog.
(Speaking of, does Gash seem different with his headband?)
If folks want to stay the night, Dog will see if he can get one of the shopkeepers to fashion a kind of papoose for Gentoa to be able to ride on his back.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Each with a cheerful buzz, except perhaps Bulwark, the party spills out into Taur before the last of the red sunset fades over the mountains. Gash, in a fit of impulse, dashes back to Bolaz's shop to see if he is still open while the others retrieve their friends' body and Stones' makes sure whomever is manning the portal will still let them leave. They have been so distracted by their tributes and shopping that the day has escaped them and there is even odds that it is too late to leave Taur by magical means. 10
Dog, Tock, Keyrie, and Bulwark arrive at the temple to find Feytok laid out, a black cloth covering his body. The cloth is pulled down and a minotaur woman is there, carving his features into a small clay statue, about the size of corn cob. In her giant hands, this is meticulous and detailed work.
Meanwhile, Gash finds Bolaz closing up his shop, key literally turning in the lock. And across town, Stones finds himself standing alone at the archway at the edge of Taur. A farmer coming in from the fields passes through, right under the arch, and Stones barely gets a grunt of "Too late to leave," from her as she doesn't even slow her pace en route to the Mountain Oasis.
Rather than chase everyone down, Stones will sit down by the arch and strum his Instrument of Illusions , causing it to create images of little musical notes that float briefly like bubbles then pop into tiny fireworks.
Dog steps in between Stones and Julat. "Easy now, I'm sure there's some way to resolve this. He passed through the Trial, which found him worthy. That is justice here, is it not? What do you believe him to have stolen?"
Dog has safely stowed Gentoa with Keyrie before putting his body in danger, and his shield is easily at hand, and has hammer hung on his belt, though his hands are spread wide in an attempt to calm the situation.
Dog does not say or do this as he is at the temple. Whoops!
"Oh, noble being, we've been through this. T'was not I! Whoever took your money fooled us both. The gods curse them I say! But, coin is fleeting and a good song lives with us forever. Now, who here can teach me a good Taur tune to expand my song list that I can share with the world?"

“Ooh I can’t wait to get started on that beekeeping book!”
Sark shakes his head. "We do not keep livestock here. All the farmers pull their own plows. Go to a human city if you need animal slaves."
"I... understand. Once we get the people who need the help moving quickly to our destination, as far as I'm concerned, the horses we were told to get can go free. Dog is ready to go if others are.
“Yes, I’ll ride one if necessary, but Tabaxi don’t really feel comfortable on horses.”
Stones is ready to head out as well.
Also Dog has been working out. He's super strong now (ASI: the only thing fighters get at level 6!).

Are there any Minotaurs nearby?
A sparse crowd does form around Stones, tapping or clapping along with his music and admiring the illusions.
"You!" says a large male Minotaur, stepping out of the crowd. "Chief Gurnag should have put you to the axe!"
"Julat," says another male, putting a hand on the angry male. "He endured the trial and survived."
"He robbed me!" Julat screams in a frothy rage.
