Methus looks very uncomfortable with the offer. He mutters about thinking about it, but his heart is clearly towards not betraying his clients. When Dog departs, Stitches spies on him for a bit but he seems to only go back to his duties repairing some books for the library.
At the Wheat and Mane, Dog approaches to find Nev trying to console Gentoa, who is beside herself. "Ugh," Neventi says. "Sorry about this. She hasn't had a nap yet. Where is everyone else?"
“Folks, I’m headed to Gargus. He’s my old teacher and he might just know what direction to point us in, he seemed to know about these angels and fiends meeting. He may know where to look. You’re welcome to come along.”
Martin goes to find Gargus.
Martin:
Gargus is again waiting at his usual spot, talking to the pigeons and rats. A lot fewer of them race off this time as Martin approaches. "Martin!" Gargus says when he is close enough. "I wasn't sure I'd see you again after you dashed away yesterday. You look tired. Come, rest your feet."
“Gargus, I am glad to see you,” he says with a deep sigh. He relates everything that’s happened since the day before. “I came to you for help,” he finishes, leaving it open ended.
Gargus thinks for a moment before he ultimately starts to chuckle, until Martin asks him what is so funny. "You wanted to find a new purpose and you sure shit did."
Martin smiles at his old teacher, maybe because he was right, as usual. Gargus talks to some of his pigeon friends who fly away quickly in several different directions. "I think I can get you some information, which might be helpful. Give me an hour and I will see what I can do. Martin sits with his old teacher, sharing some of the stale bread with him to dispense to the birds and rodents that gather around them.

Martin:
It only takes 40 minutes before Gargus' pigeons return. They report to him several things, which he relays to Martin. "The devas in the market district caught my spy spying on them. Axonia says, and I quote, 'We will be out for a walk at sundown tonight.' She didn't specify where, which little Hollowbones here thought was odd."
He throws a special piece of cookie to Hollowbones, who gobbles it up and, Martin could swear, does a little dance in a circle for the treat. He throws a smaller piece to another one, who also gobbles it up. "That's okay, Pebbleback. She didn't find anything about the devils or demons in the city, I'm afraid. You'll like this last tidbit, though," he says and throws the last piece of cookie to a third pigeon. "Whistlebeak says he may have found your assassin. A man has been running around on the rooftops the last two nights and he disturbed a pigeon flock over in the Shacks. Well, one of them told ol' Whistlebeak about it and he was able to locate the stone building, probably one of the originals when Masa was just a village if I had my guess. It's next door to a tailor and dress shop in the Shacks on....Griffon Avenue, I think. I hope that helps, my friend."
Martin blinks at Gargus in surprise. “You make Druid-ing look so easy.” Martin shakes hands with Gargus before drawing him in for a hug once he realizes he might not be back for some time.
Dog is frustrated at the failure at the library. He's in a funk as he walks to Nev's, wondering what all these gods and goddesses want from him. He tries to pray and ask for guidance, not that he knows how to do that. He asks Tymora for a sign that it's okay to leave without an understanding of everything. He asks all the other gods to allow him to try to keep Nev and Genny safe at the pace he decides, not the pace Nev seems to want now.
When Nev asks him where everyone is, he wordlessly goes into his usual method of calming a fussy kiddo and beckons Genny into his arms and pulls a piece of jerky from his pack for her to chew on that kept her happy for weeks on the road. He explains that they are looking for Keyrie and the new one, Stones, who have gone off to find transportation for their journey. He tells of Tock and Gash's exploits along the road, and introduces her to the idea of Bulwark, Martin, and Althus joining the group of protesters.
"Take your leave, Mother! I'm sure it's been a big day for you, and for her. I'm so glad we could get her back to you safe and sound. It was a long journey. Did you know a dragon tried to attack us? And a horde of bugbears!"
And Dog starts to tell Nev about everything that happened to the group and Genny from their abduction through Taur through the pursuit to Masa on the road, sparing no detail at all, and with some focus on Jabrael (sp?) taking them and stopping with the story of the minotaur trying get the group to wear the amulets. He doesn't go into detail in this part but he does explain the feat the group felt in the minotaur's ask about wearing the amulets.
"Did he ask you to wear that one? Or did he put it on you? And can you tell me more about Aucasia? I'm glad you have a choice for Genny! When we were fleeing that army camp and ran into the dryad with her third choice, it seemed no choice was very good, and if we are being frank, you were perfectly correct in not committing to any of them. But you say we have a choice now. The minotaur is gone now, he flew off and we don't know where he is, which is unfortunate. Tell me, Nev, what can we expect from Aucasia? What do you know of her? How far is she? Does she know of us? I think I remember that the condition was that you can raise Genny however you want which seems like a good thing. Does she live on an island? "
(This is not meant to be a fusillade of questions but more of one side of a conversation that hopefully Nev partakes in. Dog is trying to have a normal conversation and I am providing responses to ease that.)
“Understood, understood. That’s okay, I’ll pass it along to a friend or something. So okay well what I would like to offer is, this!”
Gash pulls out his Braizer of Fire Elementals. “I thought it would be much more useful to me but in my line of work and how things happen I don’t often have the prep time to do anything with it. So I’ve not even used it yet. Would you be interested in something like that?”

Tock says, "Bulwark, would you like to come along to do a once-over at the manor or would you rather stay here?"
Either way, Tock will head out to the manor and go through all of it very thoroughly, inside and outside. Once nearby he will disguise self as an average very non-descript human.
He doesn't go into detail in this part but he does explain the feat the group felt in the minotaur's ask about wearing the amulets.
"Did he ask you to wear that one? Or did he put it on you?"
Neventi rocks Gentoa in her arms. "Oh, I'd rather not talk about it," she says in a sing-song voice towards the little girl.
"And can you tell me more about Aucasia? I'm glad you have a choice forGenny! But you say we have a choice now."
"Yup!" she says, trying to make her daughter giggle, though the girl stubbornly refuses to play along. "It is a huge weight off of my mind! I've never met Aucasia, but neither have I met King Haddian. Did you know that King Haddian has never had married or had any children? What would people say if we went to live with him?"
"Tell me, Nev, what can we expect from Aucasia? What do you know of her?"
"I've never met her, so I don't know what to expect. She can't be any worse than an unmarried old man, though."
"How far is she?"
"That's another benefit. She is in Vallas, which is closer than the capital."
"Does she know of us?"
"Oh, probably. It seems everyone knows more than me."
"Does she live on an island? "
"I hear she has a wonderful estate in Vallas," she says, looking around impatiently. Neventi frowns. "It is starting to look like we will be walking."
Barratan looks over the brazier. "You need prep time to summon the fire elemental from this?" he says, looking it over with glowing eyes. "I have a seen a few of these and their activation is usually instant."
He sighs. "Well, I don't really have a buyer for it in mind anyway. I'll give you 2000 gold for it. I'm sure I could at least sell it the next time I head to Alciondria."
(this is considerably less than Gash purchased it for.)
Dog said he was going to the library and then to the Wheat and Mane inn in the market district. Gash said he was going to the enchanter's shop. Althus left for the temple of Helm. Bulwark and Tock were still at the tavern when Martin left.
Tock arrives at the manor to find the gates and the front door are both unlocked. The bodies have been removed from the premises but there is little else to suggest anyone else has even been here. Careful to avoid any prying eyes, he slips inside again. This time, he searches the place more methodically, in case they missed anything previously.
Investigation: 17
In one of the bedrooms, Tock finds a pouch secured under the bed that contains 610 gp. He did not notice it on his first pass through the room, but being thorough pays off. Nothing else in the house appears to be of value or useful to the group's goals.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bulwark:
Bulwark finds himself sitting alone in the tavern called Bounty. With no need to order anything and nobody to listen to or talk to, he simply stares ahead, slightly unnerving some of the other patrons. A steady whirring emanates from him as he idles in the middle of the establishment.
34 minutes pass in this fashion before a new party of adventurers enters. With them is a towering warforged. They are mid-conversation and the warforged is laughing at one of the jokes of the others in the party. "I didn't know you had a filthy mind under that innocent facade, Kerryl!" he says with a booming voice.
Kerryl, a female human, puts a loving hand on the warforged's arm with a grin. "Well, I am adaptable. And if it will make you laugh, I will add it to my repertoire."
The third member of their party is staring at Bulwark, who has turned his head, the only motion he has made for some time. "What are you looking at, pal?" say the surly dwarf.
Kerryl and the warforged stop their banter and look at what their companion is talking about. "Whoa," the human woman says. "We haven't seen another of your kind in a long time, Ram."
Ram rests a hand on the dwarf's shoulder and the little warrior settles down a bit. Ram walks over to Bulwark. "Are you okay buddy?" the warforged says.
Bulwark's whirring continues as he refocuses his eyes and tilts his head to meet the gaze of the other warforged. "Something happened to you, didn't it?" Ram says.
Martin returns to Bounty to find Bulwark looking up at another warforged in brief silence. A human woman and male dwarf stand behind the warforged, both looking relaxed but alert. At first, he is concerned that Bulwark is in trouble, but then the new warforged lays a gentle hand on Bulwark's shoulder.
