Can Stitches make her way out from underneath the door or through another crack? If so Dog sends her out and looks through her eyes.
No, it seems to be good carpentry, leaving no visible cracks. Dog does learn the door is locked. The keyhole is too small for Stitches to pass through but he can see through the keyhole that it is slightly lighter outside the room than inside. Unfortunately he cannot make anything out except...maybe a rope coiled on the floor about 30 feet from the door.
I thought about requiring a roll but that seems silly. I will say this much: Without knowing what the owner of this junk intended for it all, stage props seems like a reasonable guess.
Tock slides the door gently open to reveal a large, empty room. Indeed, opening it further, he finds they are quite alone. A coil of rope does indeed sit 30 feet from the door, leading up to the dramatic crimson curtains that hang on either side of a large playhouse stage. The playhouse is past its glory days, clearly, but it is still in use, as the stage and seating areas are will kept.
The four adventurers creep out of the prop room in search of an exit. As they walk up one of the aisles of seats beyond the pit in front of the stage, they hear a gentle snoring. A halfling lay awkwardly in one of the plush seats reserved for wealthy patrons. A sheaf of pages lay on his belly and an empty goblet lay on the floor beside him. The exit lay ahead through double doors and the halfling is to the left, about 30 feet away.
Tock expertly, soundlessly creeps up to the halfling and wrests the pages from under his hand.
Tock:
The halfling holds the script to a play. It is a well-known work entitled "The Heir and the Earth". The play is a comedy about a farmer with no wife who adopts a fully grown dwarf as her child. It is said to have been a political commentary in its day about Queen Margeta, who never married but passed the crown to her adopted son (and distant nephew), King Harvell the First.
Dog motions to the door for a similar exit and examination of what city they’re in. He will use his boots of flying a couple feet off the ground to avoid making sound to get out of the theater and then return to the ground near the door.
Tock says, "I'm Stophan. We are exterminators. You have a giant rat problem. As in a problem with giant rats. Might also be a giant problem of giant rats. We'll find out and deal with it."
He cocks and loads his new very fancy and very magical crossbow and looks around. Suddenly very sharp scurrying sound comes from the hole in the stage (Thaumaturgy, "throw a sound" option). Then some squeaking is heard from off to the side (same thing).
He turns back to the halfling, "Sir, it feels like we came just in time. You might have woken up inside the belly of a rat very soon."
He takes another look around and makes some hand signals towards the rest of the group, like pointing left and right and random stuff like that.
"Now, unless you want to play the bait for us, please leave with all haste. Here are your papers."

Gash conjures a lockpick, "Tock, this one... I swear... is really good."
Gash - Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
I mean... I’m not sure how else to ask.
Paladin - warforged - orange

Martin opens the door.
Paladin - warforged - orange
(Still locked...)
If Dog can help Tock pick the lock by looking at the keyhole through Stitches' eyes, he will.
Martin looks for something force the door, like a crowbar or something to ram the door with, in case picking the door doesn’t work

Tock taps Martin on the shoulder, "May I? I'll try the quiet method before we bash it."
With trepidation he nods to Gash and mutters to himself, "Tymora help me" (casting Guidance)
Lockpicking check (with advantage): 23 (+4 from guidance)
He swears quietly to himself and says, "I'm sorry Gash."
Then turn around and opens the door, "... for ever doubting you. This worked perfectly."

Tock goes and looks him over, then removes the papers. He's still also disguised as someone from the previous city.
He takes a few steps back to the others and quickly divides the papers into roughly equal number to look over for any clues as to where they are now.
Roll stealth for that.
Tock doesn't do guidance for that - the dude is sleeping.

No lock picking is required on the front doors but a large, heavy beam does bar them from outsiders.

Dog lifts the beam easily but sets it down with a clatter, waking the halfling only a few feet away from Tock.
"Wha?" he says, sitting up straight. "Who are you?" He is looking directly at Tock.
