Urgog can see that the streets are virtually empty. In the village, people tend to stay in doors as frequently as possible due to the torment that Strahd has caused since Castle Ravenloft looms over the village. As the others remain inside, Urgog can hear the sound of small, wooden wheels rolling across damp cobbles. He can trace the lonely sound to a hunched figure bundled in rags, pushing a rickety wooden cart through the fog. The figure appears to be going door-to-door, as if she's trying to peddle her wares.
Nixus browses the items for a moment, but nothing appeals to him. He exits the Mercantile, and Thademar follows him. Urgog and Winter is met by Thademar, Nixus, and Ismark.
Except for Urgog, everyone else may make a Perception check. (OOC): If you roll 12 or higher, you'll notice the same thing that Urgog noticed on post #1,105.
Ismark looks to the party as they exit the Mercantile. "Ready to meet my sister?" he asks while facing the south, in which is the direction of his house.
Ismark turns on his heel and begins to walk down the street, making his way to his house. He'll peer over his shoulder to address Winter's question as he strolls along. "My sister's name is Ireena Kolyana. I want to get her out of this village because, for some reason, Strahd has an attraction toward her and desires her above all else."
Ismark leads the party further down the village, to the Burgomaster's Mansion.
Red arrow takes you from Bildrath's Mercantile to Burgomaster's Mansion.
A weary-looking mansion squats behind a rusting iron fence. The iron gates are twisted and torn. The right gate lies cast aside, while the left swings lazily in the wind. The stuttering squeal and clang of the gate repeats with mindless precision. Weeds choke the grounds and press with menace upon the house itself. Yet, against the walls, the growth has been tramped down to create a path all about the domain. Heavy claw markings have stripped the once-beautiful finish of the walls. Great black marks tell of the fires that have assailed the mansion. Not a pane nor a shard of glass stands in any window. All the windows are barred with planks, each one marked with stains of evil omen.
Ismark approaches the main entrance, and proceeds to knock on the door. "Ireena, it's me." Ismark calls out. Moments later, shifting of wooden planks and mechanical locks can be heard while the door is opened. A striking young woman with auburn hair, is on the other side of the door.
"Who are they?" She asks Ismark, as she notices the adventurers. "They're friends. They're here to help." Ismark replies, as he moves inside, ushering the adventurers to follow. Ireena smiles warmly, and she adjusts the scarf that's draped around her neck.
The interior of the mansion is well furnished, yet the fixtures show signs of great wear. Noticeable oddities are the boarded-up windows and the presence of holy symbols in every room. The burgomaster is in a side drawing room on the floor — lying in a simple wooden coffin surrounded by wilting flowers and a faint odor of decay.
Ireena turns to the adventurers. "No one in the village has been brave enough to assist us in taking him to the cemetery for proper burial. Everyone in the village is afraid of me due to the wolves that would assault the house. He passed away three days ago, and we haven't been attacked since." Ireena says while frowning, as speaking of her deceased father isn't easy. "Who are you exactly?" She asks curiously, hoping they'd introduce themselves.
Ireena nods her head at Thademar and Urgog. Before Ireena can respond, Ismark cuts in. "Thought you were a cleric of Kord?" he says in an jovial tone. Ireena raises an eyebrow as she glances between the two. Ireena looks over to Winter.
"Yes, we need to bury him immediately. We've had him stored here because everyone's afraid we'd be attacked by wolves if we take his body to the cemetery. Surely a band of capable adventurers like yourselves can rebut the wolves if they were to appear." Ireena says in a confident tone as this group seem they can handle themselves against a pack of wolves.
Ismark adds in. "Don't forget what we talked about, sis. Once he's buried, you're leaving." Ismark proclaims. "We can cross that bridge when we come to it. Right now, we need to get his body to the cemetery. Are you folks ready?"
Upon inspection, Urgog is able to see that the home has indeed been attacked by wolves. He can discern trampled weeds all around the mansion as well as scores of wolf paw prints and human footprints. The footprints were made by zombies and ghouls under Strahd’s control.
Bildrath raises an eyebrow at Winter. "Since you're annoying me, that'll be 9 gold."

"Done! And it's been a pleasure doing business with you Birdbath. I'm sure you'll understand when I tell you that I hope I don't see you again."
Winter walks outside the Mercantile and joins Urgog.
"Wow, that guy is really something. Hopefully we can get out of here and back to somewhere more...civil soon."
Urgog glances at Winter a moment and grunts noncommittally then resumes looking around. "Towns make me want to go back to the forest."

"I am Thademar. A tempest cleric of the god Kraid. I will do everything within my strength to aid you!" Bursts Thademar.
"Wow! I mean, hello! I'm Winter Wildwing. I'm here to help in the hopes of getting out of this strange place at some point."
Winter motions to the burgomaster. "Do we need to bury that poor fellow?"
Urgog nods at the woman but looks around intently, checking for potential dangers and flying swords or anything odd. "I am Urgog."
