Mumbling Fjolnir stuffs the 2 potions in his rucksack, "...oh ye pass em to the pack mule, aye.." and pulls out a torch and tinder, working at it and blowing on the torch until hotter than normal. "...what cobwebs don't burn, they'll shrivel up like singed beard hairs...!" he says, approaching the passage.
It is very slow going with 2 torches, but you start clearing the webs. They burn away in small sections at a time. It is tedious work. You eventually clear the first 10x10 section and reveal the lever. It is now unstuck from the webs.

Some of these webs are thicker and springier than others. You come to the conclusion that they are constantly being replaced as time goes on, and some are actually newer.

The lever does not pull easily but eventually gives. A grinding of metal is heard down the entire hallway and it echoes back and forth through the hall. Something screeches from the other end, but you don't see anything.

Nothing happens. The screeching fades and the hallway goes quiet...
...for a few seconds, until two large spiders appear out of thin air, one in front, and one behind the party:
One attacks Fjolnir: Attack: 24 Damage: 12 The other attacks Absinthe: Attack: 23 Damage: 10 (Damage applied) Initiative: 16 Both Fjolnir and Absinthe need to make a CON save, DC 11. On a failure you take 14 Poison damage, or half on success.

After a painful bite, Both Fjolnir and Absinthe feel a numbing sensation start to cover their entire body, but they resist the full effects of the poison. Absinthe is a little worse for wear, and Dustfinger is still hurting from the ghoul fight.
The spiders loom over the party, towering over you with their long legs.
The dancing lights and Dustfingers' superior darkvision illuminate the hallway farther but do nothing to help with the obscuring nature of the webs.

I light a torch then use mage hand to clear the spider webs

I loosley tie my rope around the handle walk back to the beggining of the hallway. Allow the others to do the same and pull the lever with the rope

I chuck my torch as hard as I can down the hall way and watch prepared to dive into the adjacent room if necessary
