Erevan backtracks slightly from the group, just to listen out behind them (the way they came) and ensure they do not get ambushed from behind. "I'm going to watch for anyone following us or coming along the same way we have, just to make sure we're ready to face any kind of confrontation without them getting the element of surprise. Anyone is welcome to help me listen while we wait for Zansnut to return, if they'd like." He smiles, turning away from the group and starting to focus on the gloom behind them.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zansnut put the lantern away and continued to grasp his pick axe firmly. There was only two of them, he would have little problem taking them out. Though they were humans, they would be from the village. He didn't want his pay to be reduced for murdering them unnecessarily. He covered himself in dirt in case he was unable to make his way back as silently as he had arrived.
“I’ll go and help Erevan. My path trail might have inconvenience us.” Khlöe murmurs to the group trailing back with her staff at the ready. She knew the drawbacks of marking off their path but not getting lost (and scaring off the more superstitious miners) had been more beneficial at the time.
"There are two humans over there. They appear to be guards of some sort. They are distracted with a dice game. Normally I would have killed them before returning but we were told safety of the villagers matter in this. If anyone has any idea to capture them and not kill them, I'm all ears." Zansnut withdrew both his shortswords, "I will use the flats of my blades to avoid cutting them if it comes to a fight."
Maya couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow to Zansnut’s suggestion to capture the guards. “We’re here to investigate, not instigate? Knowing where the guards are may be better than bringing attention to them missing?” She’d reach into her bag and pull out part of the report that had the map. “Were those guards guarding the entrance?” She’d point to the cave entrance on the map, “I’m just trying to get our bearings here. So just thinking out loud... someone correct me if I’m wrong...” Maya would position the map so that the entrance was facing the way Zansnut went. “We came through the vent here.” She’d point there. “So we’re approximately here?” She’d point in a spot approximately between the two. “The hidden jetty, in theory should be approximately north, north east ish?” She’d then point to the hidden jetty noted by Kwon. “That was our possible escape route? And we know there are a couple guards there too.” Taking a quick peak over her shoulder behind her where Erevan and Khloe went to check for patrols, “There was a path that way we didn’t take, that I might assume would lead towards the guardhouse?” She’d trail her finger down to the guardhouse. “So, if we want to go deeper into the mines,” She’d look ahead from where Zansnut came from, “We should go left, instead of right?”
Flemig, gazing up at Maya as she speaks nods in agreement with her, then says to Zansnut. "Remember, we are the intruders in this mine right now. Like Maya I would prefer the route of circumventing human guards, or even talking to them, rather than slitting their throats. I do have a certain spell or two we may be able to make use of in this situation though. I can put them both to sleep, or attempt to persuade one of them that we are friends, though I can only affect one of them that way."
Turning to Maya, Flemig says "I'm not sure about leaving this situation unresolved. Leaving the guards at our backs would leave us vulnerable should we encounter combat close to this room".
Addressing the group Flemig says "I am willing to go talk to them, pretending I have been sent on an errand by Bazili. Or perhaps we can create the illusion that I am Zansnut's prisoner and we can approach them that way. Should they turn hostile I can protect myself with my spells. Hopefully." Flemig gulps. "Should my spells fail the group can stay close and try to help me."
OOC: that's my suggested plan of action, but I'm open to any suggestions or alternate plans!
“I don’t care what we do but this isn’t the path we want” Tanirall leans against the wall looking down the hall in both directions, waiting for the rest of the group to decide.

“It is best that we get the most information that we can before we have to explain ourselves, yes? Negotiations and bargaining are always better with evidence. Let us continue this way, away from the guards.”
Maya looked at both Zansnut and Flemig. She didn’t doubt Zansnuts cunning and ability as he was able to go too and from those guards without being detected. Though she hasn’t seen Flemig use his magic, she also had faith in the gnome. Almost feeling like a coward, she was about to concede to the others wishes. She did have some spells that could assist with their plan, but when Allistar spoke up, she sighed in relief. She nodded at him in agreement as he brought up the bargaining point. “I’m hesitant for us to engage in an encounter we may be lucky to avoid all together. I don’t expect us to remain here or walk out the front door.” She took a pause. “Plus, why use all our tricks right off the hop? Save them for the what if’s. There’s enough of us to watch our front and back” she’d gesture to the direction Khloe and Erevan went.
Flemig nods to the group. "West it is then. Let's be sure to remember these two may come running should we run into trouble that way, and guard our backs accordingly".
"I still think we should engage them. We have no idea how many people are in this mine, when the shift change happens or where someone would be likely held." Zansnut put his shortswords away since it seemed like they would be moving on. "We can deal with these two now that would be more willing to help us since we are sent on a mission from their leader. Or we can try to extract information later when the dwarves are here. Also since this mine does have others, it likely wont be easier down the road."
ooc - I'd like to go question the guards. Though if everyone wants to go the other way I'm ok with that.
Taking a moment, truly considering the positive outcomes suggested by the rogue. Maya would suggest a compromise, “The others should be back soon. We could get our story straight, decide a rendezvous point” she’d pause, wondering if it’d be wise to continue with the suggestion, “and split up?”
"While I can see the value in all of the opinions, the majority seem to believe moving west (which is actually North on the map) is the best option at this point. Let's go."
To the group - we probably need to elect one person to make movement and combat decisions based on the opinions offered. I'm in no way electing myself (though I would do it if agreed on), but I'm going to give the go-ahead in this case to move things forward.
Kasian: let's move quietly back to the west (towards the entrance that we came in), then into the Northern tunnel from there.
Erevan whips around and whispers to his comrades. "Crap, they know we're here, what do we do? They're speaking goblin... are there supposed to be goblins down here?!"
OOC: Are we back where we started on the map or somewhere else?

Kasian: let's move quietly back to the west (towards the entrance that we came in), then into the Northern tunnel from there.
OOC: sounds like a plan, although Khlöe and I are back in that direction, so you'll have to let us know when you catch up to us.
OCC: The map is oriented correctly, I put a little arrow to indicate north.
Backtracking, you move east down the tunnel, until 20ft in front of you, the torchlight reveals an opening and a crate.
Flemig & Zansut
