before he goes outside with the others to look after the children. He won’t ask any questions, just try to calm them down before they sleep. “We’ll have to stay here tonight. We can’t take these children through the woods for an hour in the dark safely. Can someone help me with the bodies inside? At the very least we should cover them up, and try to put them in more appropriate positions. Tomorrow we can bury them.”
Joshua will search the house (Investigation: 20.) "I agree with Arric, though I suggest that you maybe get someone official to do the burial, Father Byron will probably be a good person. I hope my parent's don't get too worried about me, they haven't seen me since the festival" He will then also fall asleep. He will give any parents jewellery to the kids before the kids fall asleep though.
Arric looks at Joshua and says, “Of course we’ll let someone else do the official burial. I meant we as in the town. I apologize if any of you were confused by that.” After making sure the kids are asleep, Arric suggests, “We should have a watch to make sure any more of those creatures don’t come back. I’ll do the first few hours if someone will get the next few so I can sleep.” Then he’ll post himself near the door of the shed keeping watch.
Talon would help move the bodies together and cover them with sheets from the parents bedroom. The white feathered bird would have tried to get the kids to laugh by making funny animal sounds and mimicking their voices until after they fall asleep. Once the kids were asleep, The kenku's eyes would lower as he tries not to think about the kids losing their parents.. his shoulders would drop a big as he walked towards the others. "Keep watch 1st?" The would ask as he points a slender finger towards himself.

Tait will make a pallets for the children in the shed and will stay with them while everyone else looks about. He'll keep watch over them. He'll suggest that we camp in the shed for the remainder of the night after they are done searching and then we can take turns at watches. Tait will take whatever watch no one else wants.
Seeing Talon and Tait volunteer for watch, Arric says,
“I’ll take the first few hours. Tait, I’ll watch over the kids for now, you get some rest. I’ll wake you up for a turn of watching, if you’ll take last watch Talon?”
He’ll look over at the two of them in confirmation, or to see if they had a different plan. If they agree, he’ll walk to the door and just put his back to it so anything trying to get in would have to move him.
Klaus will find a place on the ground next to the wall closest to the kids and sit leaning his back against the wall. "If you guys need me for anything just let me know but I definitely could use the rest. One of those fierce beasts got a decent blow in on me and at least a couple hours would be nice to let my body recuperate at bit." and already nodding off as is, he will lower his head and close his eyes and let sleep take him.

At the mention of being wounded, Talon would rise from his curled up position and place his hand on Klaus's shoulder. Pulling the rod from his belt, The dark purple eyes of the kenku would twinkle as if they were galaxies full of twinkling stars. A voice that you have never heard speaking a language you are unfamiliar with comes out of the Kenku's mouth as he casts cure wounds.
7 healing.
(Welp... that was underwhelming... going to boost it a bit 1 so 5 total healing....)
Healing Light
At 1st level, you gain the ability to channel celestial energy to heal wounds. You have a pool of d6s that you spend to fuel this healing. The number of dice in the pool equals 1 + your warlock level.
As a bonus action, you can heal one creature you can see within 60 feet of you, spending dice from the pool. The maximum number of dice you can spend at once equals your Charisma modifier (minimum of one die). Roll the dice you spend, add them together, and restore a number of hit points equal to the total.
"Thank you Talon it is very much appreciated. I already feel two times better, thank you Joshua but please save your strength just in case it is further required. We aren't out of the woods yet and we have these youngins as are responsibility now."
The rest of the night goes without any problems but it is short and when the sun starts shining into the shed it is around 9 AM. You have all rested but not enough and the ordeal of the night has taken a toll.
The grisly sight is even more unbearable in the daylight and you are very keen on leaving the area as fast as possible.

(Did it count as a long rest? Or just a short rest?)
Joshua will talk to the children once they are awake. "You are safe now, we won't let them hurt you. But you need to be strong. (To Paul) Jill will look after you, (to both) and Father Byron will make sure you are both taken care of.(To Jill) You have to be brave though, for Paul and for yourself. And to help us keep you even safer is there anything that you can remember about why they came or where they came from so we can make sure they never bother you again." Persuasion 18 (well not terrible, I am not fully out of my cursed luck yet though)
Arric will look around the house

After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)

Joshua takes a careful look around the house. The sight of the mangled bodies is terrible to endure but necessary to understand what has happened.
Seems like a huge dog or something like attacked the household.
The father seems to have tried to fight it or hold it off and he has the most injuries.

Have the kids moved back into the house or sleeping in the shed?

The kids will not enter the house. They are to affraid to do so.
Joshua you believe that someone has been here to search the place. More precisely the room left to the hired hands.
The farmhouse being far away you don't really know who works here and who comes and goes.
You will have to ask in town or to the children once they are able to.

"Sounds good to me Arric," Tait says as we makes himself as comfortable as one can in a shed and gets ready to sleep.
Talon would nod as he curls up into the back corner of the shed in a tight ball before trying to fall asleep.
"Resting sounds like I good plan for all of us and especially the children. We can further investigate after that."
Hoyle will share in the guard duty at the shed, whenever needed.
(don't forget we are also children)

"Klaus how are you feeling, do you want some more healing or are you good?"
(If Klaus says he is fine, skip to the spell)
"Tis but a scratch, well now at least" for 5
"Wake me up for a watch with Talon", Joshua then sleeps
