And Grom is absolutely right. We’re just stupid lucky that we’re not ice sculptures

"I don't care what the rest of you think - I'm not attacking that dragon. And if you decide to attack it instead of setting it free, I won't help you."

"Neither am I. Nor am I letting it be imprisoned again," Arxius says. She looks at Meepo. "If that is what you want then you have an adventuring party fit to help you return the creature. I will take no part in it."

So what is your idea? What is your proposal? You want to take the dragon out of this place, take it to the north, and free it? Allow it to grow and claim territory?

In my oaths I’ve sworn to do what must be done to keep evil from gaining ascendancy in the world. Failure to do so lessens myself and lessens Torm. “All that it takes for evil to flourish is for the good to stand aside and do nothing” is something Torm teaches us.

"She's proven that she can control herself, Alten! She's not a mindless, evil, killing machine. Gods, you're so damn narrow-minded! Talien literally grabbed her tail and she didn't so much as swat him with it. You want a decision? I've decided. I'm letting her go, she can find her way north on her own and maybe she'll remember this kindness and prove you wrong about her. You want to stop me, you'll have to attack me. See how your god feels about that." And she's going to go back into the room to tell Calcryx that she needs to skedaddle. 

Furious with the conversation, Arxius snaps, “We are not doing nothing! We are showing mercy. We are showing it that we are not the mindless killers their kind likely see us as. We are proving to each other that we can look beyond birth, beyond upbringing, see past our own damn noses. That creature is not evil because you say it is! It is not the property of Yusdrayl because she caged it! You with your order and your academia... all alike you are. You place yourself above us all. Take what you want, do as you please. Maintain the natural order as you see fit. You are no better than the Scientist prodding, and cutting, and killing as she pleases! Taking life into your own hands. Playing God. You are the monsters!”

"Just so I understand. Our options are as follows:

We leave the dragon where it sits and act as if nothing ever happened.

We take the dragon with us, on the wild assumption that it would want to do such a thing, in the hopes of releasing it into the wide world. 

We kill the wyrmling now and be done with it.

Or, and this is my favorite option, we deal with this on our way back out. This is not a bridge we need to cross now. She is not likely to abandon her hoard in the mean time."

The fact that it didn't attack immediately doesn't make it good. First,  many cruel things play with their food before killing it. Two, the dragon probably hasn't seen anything like Talien before. Even beasts instinctually assess threat levels. Three, even chromatic dragons can be charming and persuasive when it suits their needs.

At the Well of Dragons battle there were hundreds of chromatic dragons of all ages, wyrmlings like this one up to ancients. Do you know how many fought on the side of Good? Zero.

There were about 25 metallics dragons on our side. Do you know how many metallics fought with the Cult to raise Tianat? Zero. 

Meepo, we haven't heard from you. In some ways this is all about you. I would also like to hear decisive options from Grom, Talien, Corkey, and Trick.

Corkie raises an eyebrow, “Like Torm, Pelor would be greatly displeased with me if I were to ignore, or actively aid evil. I have however heard of a spell that can detect evil and good, but have not yet mastered it... Is it common in your order? Do you know it? If you did it would certainly help us make a decision as we could determine the nature of this wrymling’s heart.”

With wide eyes full of tears Meepo says, “Meepo Sorry Arxius.. But, Meepo kobold... Meepo must get Yusdrayl... tell her Calcryx found.”

"If Meepo brings Yusdrayl here there will be no letting this dragon go free...  if we are going to free it or attempt to  befriend this thing we need to not let the kobolds know..."  MEEPO STOP!! DONT DO IT!!  

Unless someone stops her, Rees is going back into the room with the dragon

if we open this door and something is up he will throw the spell at the dragon...

The way I’m reading/interpreting the ready action it seems like you can only have one trigger. So, do you want to use it on Meepo, or the door? You can also only hold one spell... so if it’s Meepo are you holding witch bolt?

Turning her back on the group, Rees goes back into the treasure room, moving back to the dragon's side without invading her space. "Calcryx? You want to leave this place, right? I think...I think that's what has to happen now. The others, they're not bad people but they're scared and they're stubborn. Alten especially. He's convinced that all chromatic dragons are evil just because they're chromatic dragons. I've seen that look before...that stubborn, convinced you're right look and he's got what he considers evidence to back it up. People sometimes forget to look at individuals and just see species. It happens to me when they know what I am...people assume I'm an aberration sent to destroy them and maybe I would have been if not for the fact that a few key people took pity on me when I was a child. The man who took me in at the orphanage taught me control and showed me kindness even though other people thought he was wrong or stupid to do so, Arxius saved my life... and that's what I wanted to do for you but..." She sighs, shrugging helplessly. "I'm worried about what the others are going to do. For some of them, good and evil are so black and white... it's naive. Traveler knows the real world is mostly shades of grey, but I don't think they're going to be convinced. If it were just Arxius and me, we'd risk it. I just don't want to see the others hurt you or you hurt them. I'm sorry, I hoped we were better than this but I think the safest thing for everyone is if we part ways. I hope you find your home, I hope you don't prove me wrong and kill us all. I really don't think you have to be evil just because most people expect it."  

Alten activates his Devine Senses and looks at everybody in the hallway. Hr follows her in and looks at everybody else. Please PM me the results, whatever they may be.

Meepo is currently standing by the door to the Trophy Room. He lets Rees go past him then turns and shoots Arxius giving an anguished look. He mouths "I'm sorry," as he tries to move past Alten, so that he can make his way back the way the part came (via the door set in the southern wall at the eastern end of the hall). Does anyone try to prevent him from walking by you? (He hasn't made a break for it yet Grom. At this point he has just declared his intentions are to go get Yusdrayl).
