Someone thinks highly of himself, despite never encountering lots of things in this world.
Doubting your "prowess" has nothing to do with it. There is always something bigger, stronger, faster, and badder than you are. That's just a fact of life. Sometimes it is the fear that keeps you alive, makes you think instead of just assuming. Torm teaches us that waging war is as much about the mental - being smarter, being prepared - as it is about the physical.
And dragons are usually very skilled foes with lots of natural advantages that we don't have.

If they are so strong, then I will keep training until I can defeat one. But I do not believe that there is a foe as strong as you describe...Except Grand Battle Master Karthina. Now that is a foe I do not believe I would ever want to face. (She would be the equivalent of a Lv. 11 Fighter, Level 6 Paladin)
The party takes a short rest. Your shadows lengthen while you tend to your wounds as the sun moves from its central most point down towards the west. Those of you yet unscathed scout out the area around you. Among the rubble is an old ring of stones that contains (and is covered by) the accumulated ash of hundreds of fires, though no fire has been lit here for a few years. Inside the ash pile are a few rough-hewn spear tips of goblin manufacture and small animal bones.
Looking over the ledge and down the switchback stairs you discern that the steps are all roughly 5-feett-wide and are roughly carved. They aren’t dangerous to traverse, however, except combat on the narrow path may have proved to be risky. You also spot three small landings that lie along the route, the first is 60 feet above the floor in area 3 (this is the landing Chatra fell down onto), the second is 40 feet, and the third is 20 feet. You do not find any ropes, or handholds that would allow you to descend the 120 feet to the bottom of area 3.
DM Note: The switchback stairs map has been moved to the Public DM Notes. Please roll your hit dice to heal [Note: Talien and Chatra used their during the previous short rest, so Alten’s lay of hand moves to Chatra per OOC discussion thread]. Let me know when you’re ready to descend the stairs.
During the short rest, Rees will sit next to Talien since currently, neither of them need to heal. "Right, big guy. Time to chat. There are certain things you clearly don't understand and I'll forgive that this once. Moving forward, you better be a quick learner. First thing's first, some basic anatomy lessons." Clearing her throat awkwardly, she'll take a deep breath and begin sort of drawing in the dirt with the tip of one of her daggers two generic figures -- one male, one female. "Right, so humans and other basically humanoid creatures have parts of their bodies that are considered more intimate than others...The chest, the backside and the, er, groin area. You should not touch any of those places without permission, it could get you killed. Specifically, if you do so to me again, because I will absolutely ******* stab you. Are you with me so far?"

Talien makes a grating laugh at her threat and says Well I did not know that, and that applies to all of your kinds? So I need to ask you first then...Your kind seem so strange, I wonder is it bad to ask someone to touch me there? I cant reach my upper back side ((Meaning his shoulders)Thinking that back side meant the whole back side as the diagram was (assumption of the drawn diagrams) of just the front sides)so is there someone I can ask to polish it for me? He scoots closer to her and says. I have been with you since your return from town, is this proximity what you mean? As he puts an arm around her. This will defiantly affect our abilities to fight if we have to stay like this.
Oookay. I clearly missed something. Listen big guy, where you come from is obviously a lot different than ours. Given how much you don't seem to know, maybe you should . . .I don't know . . . ask . . . one of us before you do . . . . . . . . anything? That way you don't do something gets you in trouble.
I'm surprised the mobs haven't already tried to run you out of some towns. Did you ever say how long it has been since you came to our world through that portal?

Rees grits her teeth, muttering to herself. "Worse than explaining to a child."To Talien, she continues, "Not the entire back, just the ass is considered off limits to most people. Everyone is different, Talien, there's no hard and fast rule. Some people would prefer not to be touched at all, even like this." She pats his arm. "It takes time to get to know people and figure out what they are comfortable with -- for you, a lot of time I imagine. An awful lot. Anyway... the point is that just like you should not grab people's weapons without permission, you also shouldn't grab people. It's rude."
Arxius shifts to sit against the cliff face. Pulling out her own water skin to drink from as she listens to Rees’ biology lesson. She watches the group interact.
Talien is the first to start moving, he looks around for a place to secure a rope for safety (perception: 6)
If one is not found he can attach it to the existing rope.
There are rubble piles big enough to hide a few giant rats, but those would move if you tried to secure a rope to any of the debris. So, you tie your 50 feet of rope to the other rope hanging down from the top of the ravine into area one. Then throw your rope off the left side of the platform. You see your rope go about 40 feet down and then realize that there is still about an 80 foot drop from the bottom of your rope to the bottom of the ravine.

I will ask if I think it may invade anyone's...privacy places or make them mad or angry. Talien says to Alten. It seems I have not learned enough in the 34 days I have been in this realm.

I thought an ass was one of those animals you have pulling carts. Talien says seriously. But this is okay with you though? (referring to his arm) And I was not grabbing you earlier, and I am sorry if I...invaded your chest, it is just odd for me, I am not used to this off limits areas. Perhaps now you can tell me exactly how I can make another Warforged.

(ooc that is why I have 3 Ropes XD) I pull the rope back up and attach both ropes to extend the rope to a maximum length to have 8 feet of extra length. I spool the rope around my backpack and say to the other. I can go check it out down below, or if someone who is lighter and better equipped to descend quietly would rather check it out, that would be alright too. I do not want to walk into another ambush and I believe there should be goblins ahead. The bird did not see any rats last time, but maybe he can take a look again too.
(If someone volunteers to go down, he will coil the rope around a makeshift hook (He will bend his eating utensil from his mess kit) and run the rope (coiled) from their backside through their legs and then up to the hands as to not allow the excess rope to fall to the ground level or give away their incoming scout)
^^(seeming to avoid the conversation that he just had with Rees to do this, but when it comes to combat, only survival matters)^^
If someone volunteers I give inspiration to them, if not I go and use it myself (unless someone poses a valid argument to Talien and stops this)

"That is one reference for the word, sure. However, it also refers to your seat, butt, bottom, etc. There are lots of words with multiple meanings and multiple words that mean the same thing. As for your arm, it's unnecessary but fine. As for how you make another warforged... I don't know. I can explain how humans and similar reproduce but honestly? I'm not sure you'd understand. Let me think about it while we continue forward and try to figure out how best to explain."

Alten, who was taking a drink of water from his waterskin at the exact wrong moment, does a classic spit-take when he hears this. He turns to look at Arxius. His eyebrows have disappeared under his hairline, his mouth is hanging open and there are a couple of drops of water hanging at the bottom of his chin. Talien waits just a second and then says quickly, If it is 7 gold per person involved, but I want to make a youngling, how much is it to have a child? 7 gold because they will be all mine?
He turns to Grom quickly and says What challenge is acceptable for someone to help me make a child? Is it just the 7 gold? I though war was involved.
