You continue on and find a small village build around the entrance to the bridge. There are some stands with fruits, vegetables, and meats and some with common metal crafted goods. There's not much else of note until you arrive at the bridge and find another pair of guards clad similarly to the first...
(If you've ever played the witcher 3 it would look like the entrance to a city, lol)
Grom will again produce his token, and give his same talk if needed
The guards let you through with little resistance. Once through you walk onto the bridge. It is made of stone and the river is about 20-25 feet below. You know that it rises much higher in the spring when the snow in the mountains above begins to melt. But, you are well into summer thus have nothing to worry about at the moment.
As you walk accross the bridge you can now see some of the city. The walls are extremely thick and sloping, so as to allow water to be poured down them in the winter, which freezes to make them slippery. A few towers are situated along the walls to allow for archers and hot oil to be poured down below. There are a few more towers that stand apart and over the walls, but they are towards the center of the city - likely another defensive measure.
Once on the other side you find another pair of guards, but they just nod and let you pass without question. You now see squat stone buildings lined up against another inner wall. The entire city seems to be arranged in such a way as to provide great efficiency and defense.

We can do this scene while we wait for Grom..
There's a bit of a pawn shop that might have this depending on your luck...
Grom suggests the "Broken Bits" pawn shop. He takes you to a shop inside the next wall. It is situated in a row of houses behind the town square.
You enter and find that it looks like an antique/pawn shop. With rows of wooden shelves and some cases right in the middle with the "finer" wares. The proprietor sits on a stool behind the counters hunched over with a loupe in hand examining something metallic. He is an older human male with graying hair and beard. He wears a smock over a white shirt with sleeves rolled up. As you enter he doesn't look up, but continues muttering under his breath.
Shake walks right up to the proprietor and with a huge, friendly grin on his face says, "Hello my good sir. What a fine day it is in this lovely city. And what a beautiful shop you have here. So much character!" Shake makes a show of looking at the wares in the cases in the middle with interest as he talks. "And such fine, eclectic goods you have! Truly, rarely have I been in such a fine, eclectic shop. Why, you must have something for just about anybody in here. Would you happen to have any instruments that would suit a bard of my stature." With that Shake stands a bit taller before saying, "Oh, I am a great bard by the by. On my way to becoming the greatest."
As we enter into the 'city proper' Talien head will be on a swivel taking in everything. He will walk closer to Rees and ask her Is this a big city by your standards here?

With that Shake stands a bit taller before saying, "Oh, I am a great bard by the by. On my way to becoming the greatest."
The owner doesn't even look up, but continues to examine the piece of metal. You find all sorts of random objects in his cases. It truly is eclectic. There is silverware, candlesticks, and jewelry mixed in with adventuring gear such as binoculars and camping tins. There are some short daggers and carving tools. Then there are small carved figures of various races among a variety of coins with funny writing on them set between an assortment of compasses and navigation tools... you think perhaps this is more of a thrift shop then anything...
The man glances up when you finish speaking and points to a shelf behind him on the eastern side of the room, "O' there might be what yer lookin' for. Price as marked." He puts his eye back into his loupe as if he didn't care if he has customers or not.
You find the shelf dusty and unkempt. There are an assortment of instruments though. An old lute with a missing string, a pair of deflated pipes of some sort, a drum whose skin has yellowed, a few silver pan flutes that have started to form a layer of white crust, and a simple triangle without anything to strike it. All of these items seem to be priced as if they were brand new...
As we enter into the 'city proper' Talien head will be on a swivel taking in everything. He will walk closer to Rees and ask her Is this a big city by your standards here?
"It's not the largest I've ever been in, but yes, I'd consider it a fairly big city. Why?" she asked, as they followed Shake into the pawnshop.
In the shop, she'll start looking around to see if there's anything reasonably priced and shiny for sale -- doesn't have to be particularly useful or anything, just interesting. Maybe an interesting dagger or coin or something.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Shake looks at the "instruments" and laughs looking back at the shop keeper. "Good joke, my fine shop master. Surely such a fine and grand shop as this one must have some instruments of better quality than these." Shake picks up the triangle. "This one I can't even play." Shake demonstrates his point by pretending to strike the triangle with an imaginary striker. "See? Nothing but the sound of silence." Suddenly Shake breaks into a solemn, sorrowful song:
Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a magic light That split the night And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light, I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools", said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words, like silent raindrops fell And echoed In the wells of silence
As he plays Shake strikes the triangle with his hand, creating a subdued beat for his sad, mournful song.
Having stayed quiet and kept her hood up, Arxius picks up a pan flute and picks at the white crust on it. Of the pan flutes available she'll see if one looks better than the others and go for that before Shake does.
"if anyone would like to do some quick shopping up here lets browse, but then lets make our way to the undercity were i can try to make contact with my associate, and talien i think you will really enjoy the Hall of all Fires!
