Arxius steps up to the counter and puts the pan flute down after Shake leaves. "I want this," she says, taking out her coin pouch. "Tell me your terms."
"12 gold," he says with a wry smile.
Arxius raises an eyebrow and then places 12 gold on the counter. She's never really understood this process. "That is agreeable," she says. "Good trade."
He reaches out, picks up a coin and bites it.. "Good trade indeed."
"It's from Thay.. any more questions? Can't you see I'm working?"
"Quite a few, actually. But if you're not interested in selling me this piece, that's fine, too. I apologize for interrupting your work with my attempts to give you money."

The spell book, will float off of groms waist and now behind him the book and quil will ritual cast *instantly* Detect Magic and I will Concentrate on that for the next 10min as we walk thru the market area seeing if anything catches my eye..
Sorry sir, but I didn't get your name? Would you prefer we spent our coin with another merchant? I'm sure a city this size has plenty.
Can I tell what he's doing? His customer service skills suck for a merchant?
What was the name of the store - was there a sign outside?
The store is named "The Broken Bits" pawn shop.
"Oh, I'm so sorry.. have I been rude?" The man says as he looks up at you.
"You're right it is a big city.. if you want to go shop elsewhere then go right ahead! Can't you see I'm busy inspecting this here piece? Do you know how rare it is? How important it is? No.. you don't.. it's worth more than your patronage though that's for sure!"
(Alten, make a general INT check to see if you know what he's looking at).

As you step back outside you see Shake attracting quite a bit of a crowd with his musical number. You notice most of the crowd has formed a sem-circle around him, but leaning out of an alleyway half obscured in the shadow of the setting sun you spot a man in a dirty brown cloak with the hood drawn. He wears a dirty white long sleeve shirt and dirty brown pants with dirty white stockings and black shoes. He has one hand on the wall and you can see it is pale with nails that are grotesquely long and filthy. He holds a long gnarled black flute in the other. A fat rat stands next to his feet and stares at Shake's performance with beady red eyes.

Seeing that he has attracted a bit of a crowd, and not satisfied with his prior performance, Shake decides to try again. "Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your kindness. This next song is a bit of a work in progress. It is dedicated to the bravest, most loyal kobold I ever knew. I don't know where you are Meepo, but wherever you are I hope you know that you are missed." With that Shake removes the cutlery and plate and starts to rattle it all together to sound like something between a washboard and a rattler, then starts to sing:
Where have all the good Kobolds gone and where are all the Gods? Where's the street wise Grombrindal to fight the rising odds? Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need
I need a Meepo I'm holding out for a Meepo 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a Meepo I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light He's gotta be sure and it's gotta be soon And he's gotta be the same size as life, same size as life
Somewhere after midnight in my wildest fantasy Somewhere just beyond my reach there's someone reaching back for me Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat It's gonna take a Super Kobold to sweep me off my feet
I need a Meepo I'm holding out for a Meepo 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a Meepo I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light He's gotta be sure and it's gotta be soon And he's gotta be the same size as life
I need a Meepo I'm holding out for a Meepo 'til the end of the night
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea I could swear that there's someone somewhere watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain And the storm and the flood I can feel his approach like a fire in my blood
I need a Meepo I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

Seeing as how the shopkeeper isn't paying attention to her, again, Rees is going to try to swap the coin he's selling with one of her own. Leaving him a single gold piece in exchange for the coin with the hole in it.
Talien will start to leave with Alten walking between Rees and the shopkeeper not intending to help with the swap but more as a protective positioning. (He would not be paying much attention to Rees at this point, with his eyes at the shopkeeper)

No. I can't really see what you're doing, other than not being attentive to your customers.
To the others
I think we should leave this man to important work. He clearly doesn't want business.

You have no idea what he's examining.. looks metallic. He blatantly ignores your comment, not to your surprise.
Alten is not interested in buying in any case. But he does walk over to where the man is to get a better look.
Well, you've certainly peaked my curiosity. Why don't you show us this wonder?

The man draws back and sits upright then quickly covers the metal up with the cloth it was resting on.
"It is none of your business. If you do not want to buy anything then you can see yourself out the way you came in".
So he goes back inside right?
Alten didn't follow Shake out. He's never left the store and the shopkeeper
