Meepo continues north, leading you further down the gloomy hallway. After another 20 feet Meepo pauses again as you come to a section of the hallway that contains six doors, all slightly ajar. Meepo sniffs the air, listens, and then whispers, “Meepo smells rats... lots of rats.”
Walking a few paces forward you can see the doors lead to small cells. Each door is open just wide enough for a giant rat to slip through without having to open it farther. The two southernmost cells and the one to the northeast contain abandoned giant rat nests. One giant rat lives in each of the other cells. Looking into the occupied rat nests you can see they contain shiny bits collected by their current owners. The rats stare at you and bare their teeth as you look into their cells.
Grom will grab his axe and mutter outloud.. "The Nine hells GIANT RATS AGAIN... These filthy beasts never should be allowed to grow to this size!"
Grom will grab a Torch off the pack of Talien with a snap of his fingers and some finesse I imagine he could try to start it on fire? If successful below..
"Here my big metal friend rid the world of these filthy beasts!"
If he can't I would just do this....
hold fire bolt untill he sees one make a move at any part member in range that he can hit
He would try to find some cover if available... if not he would try and get out of others way but yet...
"Oh, this is not ideal," Arxius says, her voice lowered. She unclips her remaining axe and draws her bow. Scanning the cells as best she can.
Perception: 21
You spot a myriad of tracks amidst the dust and grime that covers the floor here. Most of the prints were made by rats, though four sets are distinctly humanoid. These tracks appear to head north, though you can also see three of the four prints also head back south.
Arxius crouches down, getting a closer look at the tracks and nods towards them for Alten. She glances back at the group. "Humanoid tracks both ways, mostly rats," she tells them. "We should probably end these ones first."
[Do the cells have like solid wooden doors or are they bars? Could I shoot an arrow through?]

EDIT: Grom retreats 15’ south around the corner where the party saw the wooden door. He holds fire bolt. See OOC thread for more info.

DM Note: Solid wooden doors. The cells would have previously housed prisoners when the citadel was operational, but now serve as rat nests.

"Bit of an understatement, don't you think?" Rees replies dryly, pulling out her bow and readying an arrow.
"I would say almost everything in our current situation can be defined as an understatement, Rees. We are in quite a predicament. Particularly with rats - it would appear."
Arxius fires a cheeky arrow towards the opening of the first door on her right.
Attack: 9 Damage:10
[and there go my good rolls, good day everyone]
You hear a hard “thud” as the arrow sinks deep into the wooden door. It takes a moment for the arrow to stop quivering. All three of the giant rats hiss at the disturbance and scurry out of their nests to confront you.
Everyone please roll initiative.

Arxius has fired at one and it is coming out at us. Is there any way to try to slam the cell door on at least one of the other cells in hopes that it traps the rat in the cell? Or are they all outside of the cells by the time we see them?
“I agree with you,” Arxius says. “Clear as we go makes more sense. And prevents any surprises later.”
[If we left the other door for now did Arx take her axe with her or do I have to leave it holding the trap?]

You’ll have to leave it to keep the trap jammed :/

Arxius is going to have a go at shooting an arrow through the rat gap to tap a rat, is that good?
Arxius, Elven Simic Hybrid Ranger in Tales from the Yawning Portal
You can certainly try. The rat has half cover though because it is obscured behind the door in the cell. Make an attack roll please.
