Talien will stand guard near the door at the hallway to the north while the party continues to explore, listening for sounds from the hallway
Perception 21
You stare into the gloom of the unlit hallway. As you stand there and listen you hear a very faint noise off in the distance than could be some sort of scraping, or scratching against the stone walls.
Talien will wait and hide on this side of the door, continuing to listen for an approach. If I hear it coming closer, once it has reached the doorway I will attack instantly. While waiting, I will signal the others if possible in the darkness. I will put the torch in my pack and only have one of my swords in my hands.

You wait in this position for a minute, two minutes, then three. The scratching sound seems to stop... But, nothing moves out of the darkness ahead.
North - open doorway leading to 80’ long unlit hallway
South - door you entered through
East - Fountain with potion of firebreath
West - Carved door (DC 20 perception check) or try something else.
Edit: font.
Arxius wanders over to look at the carved door, running her fingers gently over it. "We should try this first," she says, glancing down at the map again. "The map suggests it's only one room. Best to clear everything as we go."
You get within five feet of the western door and see that there is an intricate design depicting two skeletal dragons carved into the stone. You find another draconic inscription written across the top of the door. You scan over the runes with your eyes and a chill runs down your spine. The the air is noticeably cooler near the door and the door itself is cold to the touch. You do not see any rings, nor do you spot any keyholes, so you look around the door, then up and that is when you spot it... 10 feet above your head you see a wicked looking blade hidden in a secret slot in the ceiling.
Meepo walks over to you when he hears you gasp at the inscription. He reads it aloud to you in a mystified voice...
“Rebuke the dead, open the way.”
Nothing happens when he says this however and you surmise that the inscription seems to be some sort of riddle for those you practice the arcane arts.
DM Note: You can attempt to block the blade to prevent it from coming down when the trap triggers [DC 15 Dexterity check or Strength check (your choice)], or you can pull the blade down and try to disarm it using thieves tools [DC 20 check].
"Nicely done, Arxius." Rees moves forward but shakes her head toward Meepo. "There's no keyhole for the present. Rebuke the dead, open the way.... How does one rebuke the dead?"
(I'm assuming Rees with her lack of magic and +0 to arcana would have NO idea what that's referring to, yes?)

DM Note: You can still try... never know you might get lucky.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
She turns back to Grom, one eyebrow arched. "Grom? Anything on those papers that mention the dead or rebuking?" She taps her chin thoughtfully, still pondering the words.
(And for the fun of it, I'll make an Arcana check and hope some of Dallas' good dice juju rubs off on me -- 10 )
OOC: The magic spell Yusdrayl gave would come in handy buts it's a level 2 spell... being we are still at level 1 characters I cant use it... unless I'm wrong and can read the scroll and make it work?

You recall the dragon door from earlier in the day and remember the group discussing something about a spell called arcane lock which can be cast on a closed door, window, gate, chest, or other entryway to secure it. You remember the spell can be dispelled, or counter-spelled with knock, or by using the password. Meepo said the words carved into the door out loud and nothing happened, which leads you to believe that the words are not the actual password, but they may be a hint that the door can be opened with another type of magic.

DM Note: According to the description in spell scroll “[i]f the spell is on your class’s spell list but of a higher level than you can normally cast, you must make an ability check using your spellcasting ability to determine whether you cast it successfully. The DC equals 10 + the spell’s level. On a failed check, the spell disappears from the scroll with no other effect.” So, it’s a DC of 12. It’s up to you if you want to try it, or save it and come back to the door later.
"Alright, if none of you magic folks has anything that would work against this, nothing to rebuke the dead or whatever, then I say we leave it for now. We've got enough on our plate without fighting this door at the moment, it'll be here after we get a bit more accomplished off of our list."
(Fun fact, my phone tried REALLY hard to autocorrect folks to ****s and I almost left it. Clearly I use one word more than the other)

Well, more experienced members of my order have the ability to turn undead by channeling the holy power of Torm. Unfortuntely, I've not mastered that ability yet.

Having decided to leave the door for now you instruct Meepo to lead on. He only makes it 15’ passed the door before he pauses and whispers, “Friends want go left, or keep going?”
You look to the west (left) and see there is another wooden door with an iron handle. It is closed, but does not appear to be barred shut. Those of you with [Tooltip Not Found] can now see the northern route leads to another large room at the end of the long hallway. But, you are still to far away to make out any details in the room. You listen closely to the silence for a moment and hear the scratching sound clearly now from the north.

Arxius is going to attempt to block the blade with her axes.

You jump up and jam one of your axes into the opening. It looks really stuck up there and you’re quite sure it will hold if the trap is triggered.
You're too busy staring at Arxius’ ass as she jumps in the air and lands with the grace of a full blooded elf to make anything of the riddle.
Meepo scratches his chin and says, “Friends try Yusdrayl’s present? Maybe open door.”
"Nicely done, Arxius." Rees moves forward but shakes her head toward Meepo. "There's no keyhole for the present. Rebuke the dead, open the way.... How does one rebuke the dead?"

Unless somebody has a good reason not to, I vote for clearing the perimeter before working our way further into the interior.
