It's been five minutes, and the submerged half-elf hasn't turned blue; he just keeps giving a thumbs-up every time he sees someone consider pulling him out. The patrons are talking amongst themselves, some people have already lost their bets.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
It's been fifteen minutes; all the bets that were made have been decided, and people are starting to get bored. "Alright, very impressive; now come out." Durnan helps Jal out of the tub and gives him a towel to dry off with. Half of the gathered patrons (those that made bets in his favor) cheer, and share some of their winnings with Jal, who recieves 12 gold total.
Soar tells Volo about Lif, and cleaning things up, and how it's really a dump and a money pit, but they're up for the task if Volo can put in some good words with the guilds and some folks who might be able to help fix it up. She invites him to come by. "Lif is really great actually, for a ghost. I got him a slate and chalk and we've started to get to know each other. If you do something nice for him, maybe bring in some new glassware or help spruce the place up, he might even consent to an interview for your book!"
She wishes Dwaye well in finding a good fight, and to let her know if there's a particularly fun one. She tries the same "prost" toast Asmodai gives with a smile, introducing herself and telling him about how her life has changed over the last day. She's amazed, and a little concerned, as Jal attempts his bathtub trick, and applauds mightily when he comes out. "That was amazing! Tell me how you did it!!"
Volo is very excited to hear that the ghost of Trollskull Manor is friendly, and talkative, and expresses his wishes for an interview! Volo promises to get you in touch with a few guild representatives who will be helpful.
Renaer and Floon express some interest in investing in the endeavor, and want to see the place, but they won't be able to provide enough to cover the reconstruction by themselves. Renaer drops the name of Mirt, a lender and real estate investor, who is reputable and might be interested in helping (for a cut of the profits).
Soar's excited that Volo, Floon, and Renaer are interested in helping Troll Skull Tavern get back on its spooky feet. She's still looking for a quest or a task by which her friends could make some cash themselves.
She asks Durnan and Meloon if they know of any work for a halfway decent adventuring group looking to make some coin.
Gibbon's voice resembles that of a Scottsmen's while still maintaining a bit of the high pitched nature of Kobold's voice. "Me name's Mc Gibbon! And I would be more the happy to play for yer customers! If that's fine with the owners course." Turns to Soar at the mention of a spectral bartender. "A ghost bartender? You don't say." Gibbon says as he gulps down the rest of his gin.

Janus stays quiet as the party walks in and inadvertently interrupts his conversation with Volo. After witnessing the shenanigans that are happening he feels a level of camaraderie that he has not seen since his clan abandoned him so long ago. He stands up from the table and in a deeper voice than most are used to, he begins to speak. "I have been given the name Janus formerly of the Inizio clan. My story, is that I have been searching far and wide for arcane knowledge to further my skills and education. As you can see, my personal disposition is not like the usual goliaths that some may encounter, I have learned to value education, whereas my former clan thought this to be a waste of time. I have been abandoned by my clan because of my lack of size and prowess with a blade. Therefore I have traveled the mountains alone for quite some time searching for another clan to be initiated into, when I came across a frozen corpse upon one of the last mountain peaks that I reached. The corpse held a book of which later I learned was a book of spells. I have tattooed my preferred spells onto my flesh as to never forget them and always keep them close. As I said, I was in search for a clan to join and unless I am mistaken.... I think I just found it. As for what service I could provide at a tavern... Surely security is my forte but I am willing to take on any responsibility that would be needed." He raises his glass as he finishes his story and chugs the full contents in one gulp and wipes his face clean afterwards.
"Ya, i was wondering if any of ya's knew a job that could perhaps get around 500 gold dragons give er take." Ripi says "Also do you know any abjurers that would specialize in say like wards or alarms sort of things." Ripi asks sitting up a bit more in the prescence of all of volos crew.

(Sorry, 'dragons' are just what gold coins are called in Waterdeep because the coins have dragons on them, it's worth about as much as a gold coin from anywhere else so they're more or less interchangeable.)
(Guild memberships are generally 1 gold per month, or 10 gold for a year paid upfront.)
Ripi asks Volo about Abjuration specialists; he doesn't have a name to give right off, but recommends trying the guildhall of the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors as a place to look for one.
At Soar's question, Meloon Wardragon thinks. "I've been delving underneath Waterdeep, lots of risk, but high reward; you may not be interested in more sewer delving though, and you're not ready for the Undermountain. If you're up for another bout in the sewers, I may have some ideas for where you'd want to look. Otherwise, ask Durnan for ideas, perhaps. Oh, or maybe Ol' Tooley the dwarf? He always has tales to tell."
Durnan just directs Soar to the Help Wanted board in a corner of the tavern, there are a few interesting postings:

[Just a note: There are obviously more quests than all of you could handle at once; I won't make quests disappear over time, so you'll have the option to do whichever quests interest you. I'm really looking forward to see what quests my players choose! Oh yes, and we're thinking of splitting into multiple smaller parties so that people that post frequently can go together while those who post less frequently can not get left behind, so consider which kind of party you'd like to take part in as part of your decision-making. I added ☆ stars to each entry roughly corresponding to how involved the associated quest is, single stars are quick encounters, many of which open up options for later quests; double stars are small dungeon crawls; triple stars are potentially whole adventures in and of themselves.]
Jal attempts to recruit a few souls to his righteous cause; while the others think it over he asks Durnan for Timmothy Ethans' whereabouts. It turns out that little Timmy is the adopted son of one of the Yawning Portal's barmaids, and he lives in one of the small workers' rooms right here at the tavern. You will be able to find him easily when it is time to look for him.
"Way back when, the barbarian chief Gilliard Wolfclan trucked with evil sprits and went mad. His clan killed him and buried Gilliard and his followers beneath a mound, sealing his evil away. Seems to have worked so far. Anyway, there's been weird noises comin' from inside the mound lately. Maybe you heroes should check that out. I hear old Gilliard had himself a magical sword, bu I don't imagine that interests ya'." Tooley takes a big gulp after that tale.
“Ooooh, ghosts! I’ll go investigate this mound, Ol Tooley.” Ignis replies. “Anything I need to know or have?”
"Well, you'll be needing to know the way, for one." (Tooley give Ignis directions to the old shrine on the mound.) "And bring some friends, I doubt the spirits will welcome you with open spec'tral arms."
“I’m hoping they don’t. I’m planning on burning them all.” Ignis responds. To the party: “Anyone wants to come with?”
