The Arena has existed since anyone in the surrounding area can remember, always in various stages of activity. Anyone you ask in the nearby towns will tell you stories of ghosts and demons appearing around there, speaking of it in hushed voices. Most who tell these stories are old geezers in taverns, reliving the so-called glory days of their youth, but some are more reputable adventurers. All report having noticed strange noises, odd multicolored lights, and the occasional sounds of combat issuing from the old ruins. This was all before the one day when a flyer mysteriously showed up on the town notice board. It read:
Join the Arena, where all your dreams of glory can become reality!
Fight for glory, fight for money, fight for recognition!
Train to become the best of the best!
Not long afterwards, a few foolhardy souls dared to venture towards the Arena. They found a completely different place from what was there before, an active battle arena. Standing outside the entrance was an odd man, a cloaked figure with two swords strapped to his belt and a bow on his back. He offered to sign them up, but they knew the reputation of this Arena. They ran off to tell the town about the developments. Will you brave the Arena, even amid all the ghostly rumors? Will you give your name to the figure, and fight forever more among the stands?
(This is linked to the Arena, which you can find here.)
The Three-Legged Spider is a decrepit tavern that stands incongruously next to the Arena. It serves as a social space for the contestants, and a few shops selling normal adventuring wares have cropped up near it. Inside, you find a low ceilinged tavern, with lamps hanging from the rafters providing a dim ambiance. There are a few tables and chairs scattered around the room, and a bar made out of some black, chipped wood. A gray-haired male elf stands behind the bar, polishing glasses. Another, younger elf hovers behind the bar as well. There's a curtain blocking a doorway behind the bar, and it blows aside occasionally to reveal an old grizzled male dwarf and a younger female dwarf busily cooking. A staircase behind the bar appears to lead down into a cellar. In one corner, a small, hunched over figure of indeterminate race and gender has set up what appears to be a makeshift alchemy lab that's busily bubbling, and in another corner sits a pale, white-haired female elf nursing a glass of water. She's clothed in white robes and has a holy symbol, and there's a female Aasimar sitting next to her in engraved plate armor, also with a holy symbol. In a final corner, there's a seedy looking male human with what appears to be a ledger, who's busily scratching notes in it. There's a noticeboard set up on one of the walls displaying competitor statistics:

The warpriest leans casually against the bar, head bare the lamplight showing tanned flesh and icy blue eyes framed with long blonde hair that is tied back from his face with a leather thong. His impressive physical appearance is exentuated by the chainmail he wears, the hauberk showing signs of use and also of careful maintenance. A large man rides a horse, with little other than a few weapons and some hide. He arrives and dismounts his horse. Does anyone have any stables I can put Mule at? He wields 2 lances, stowing some in his backpack as he shouts.
"It is indeed, and therefore maybe my being here is not surprising, this place calls out to warriors, and I rejoice to think of so much valour and skill coming together in one meeting just to celebrate itself." Smiling a wolf's smile he pays for his food and drink thanking both elves before turning to appraise the newcomer to whom he offers a nod as he enters.

A dark-skinned elf, the light bouncing off of the ice crystals in her hair, walks into the tavern. She orders a glass of water, then proceeds to sit alone, listening to the conversations around her. She carries a pan flute, and a chilling breeze seems to emanate from her.

This way there is no need to change the roll.)

"It will be 1 silver for the ale and 2 for the meal, good sir."
He turns to the other elf.
"See if you could get the gentleman something from the kitchens, Osstaer, would you? I'll handle the ale."
Your meal is delivered shortly, and the elf watches you with interest.
"Now, what brought a priest like you here? That's the symbol of Tempus, is it not?"
