Abner's panicked fire bolt misses its mark and careens into the ceiling. Adri's sacred flame spell coalesces as a column of white flame at the point that her enemy floats in, but the creature coils around the column and completely avoids touching the damaging radiance.

The shadowy creature takes a hard and substantial hit from Therne's magically imbued staff. Brozak, with his brain racked from the psychic assault of the wail, disengages and runs to the corner of the room - cowering beside the bed.
The smoky specter, now surrounded, spins and looks at its enemies, trying to determine which it should strike. Its eyes settle on the tiefling, and it moves in again to attempt one of its deadly kisses upon Red's lips.
Life Drain vs Red:19 Damage: 9 necrotic
Red's Constitution Saving Throw:20
You all watch as Red's life force is inhaled by the creature, causing his skin to wither and crinkle as his eyes gloss over and he drops to the wooden floor. Luckily, it seems as though the specter didn't manage to consume his essence completely - as the tiefling is still breathing in an unconscious heap on the floor.
Those adjacent to the creature notice that it appears to be preparing itself to unleash another of those screeching wails that it opened its assault with.
Order of Initiative: Wailing Shadow, Adri, Brozak, Abner, Therne and Red.
Abner's electrifying touch sends a shockwave rippling through the shadow, but it appears to have little effect as the energy is absorbed by the smoky tendrils.
[OoC]: It's resistant to the damage.

[ Ok same result. Does that con save count as the first death save or is it separate?]
[OoC]: That was a save against an effect that lowers your maximum HP. I'd save your turn until last if I were you, as one of the others may get you up. It's up to you though, feel free to roll a death saving throw now if you wish.

OOC: Adri, unless you used them, you might also have 2 goodberries still, which you could feed to Red (1 action per, I believe). Also, if Red is unconscious, does Therne still benefit from flanking when making her attack?

Also, Therne has Detect Magic running, and Produce Flame to help illuminate.
