Hey Petro, you seeing this thing?  Very abnormal rat behavior back here.  Maybe we should get rid of it?  Ondrea waves over her shoulder at the rat and makes a shooting gesture.

Petro nods, keeping his eye on it. Oh yes, I see it. I'm thinking about grabbing it with a mage hand if it gets any closer. He tries to speak quietly enough to not let the rat overhear.

If you want to try and take it alive, go ahead, but I'll be ready to shoot it if it looks like it's getting away.  Ondrea touches her holy symbol lightly, preparing to cast guiding bolt if Petro can't grab the rat.

Petro scowls. I'm just tired of being followed. I have the distinct feeling this is related to those things from the other day. He massages the spot where he got spined.

Petro conjures up a mage hand about 5 ft behind the rat, and the next time it shows up he'll come at it from behind and try to scoop it up.

Grapple with a mage hand.... roll an arcana as athletics doesn't seem appropriate, vs a 20

Having caught it, he'll float it over to the wagon.

Looking back at the wagon and seeing a mouse floating above the wagon Angorn gets concerned while making his way back to the wagon, What is going on here? Got bored so you thought about torturing an innocent creature?

Petro smiles wryly. I didn't realize you thought so highly of me, Angorn. No, I don't believe this is an ordinary rat. Any ideas on how to find out?

Angorn narrows his eyes at Petro, I hope you are right about that

Petro tightens mage hand's grip on the rat and pulls out a dagger, and looks the rat in its beady eyes, and enunciates to make sure it hears. We could just dissect it, and see if everything looks the way it's supposed to.

Angorn, this certainly looks like a rat, it moves like a rat. By this point it has stopped wiggling and has gone limp, seemingly accepting its fate 

Ondrea sighs is frustration.  Is there anything we can tell about this thing?  I'd have expected more of a fight from a shapechanger, so it's probably not that.  Could someone be possessing it?  Or looking through it's eyes?

(Religion 16  Do I know of anything that could do that?)

Seeing the rest of the group stop and hold over a rat, Ramos comes back to see what is happening. “We could solve this problem the way that most magical issues can be solved,” he offers, hefting his trident. ”No rat, no problem!” 

Angorn lets out a little growl Why must you all treat animals with such contempt, they are living beings as well

“Peace, friend. I’m not suggesting the slaughter of all rats on the continent, but it can’t hurt to play it safe. We’ve already dealt with fiends in the shape of ravens this trip, a rat isn’t out of the possibility. One death won’t upset the entirety of this place, and I’d rather avoid another ambush if possible.”

Petro, never taking his eyes off it, squeezes the rat even harder. I don't think there would be any need in killing if it would just show what its true form is, eh?

Angorn scoffs while holding his bow tightly his knuckles turn white and whirls away, I guess do what you feel necessary but I won't be a part of it with that he walks away

(mage hand isn't capable of squeezing for damage purposes, the rat isn't getting away however) 

Ondrea, as far as possession goes, you know it exists, ghosts for one can posses but probably would leave the rat and posses one of you more powerful creatures. As for looking through the eyes, nothing from a religious side of view that you can think of. And no way of checking for possession
