OCC Laminated bows are layers of differing materials, for example, the bowmen of Saladin (who wrecked havoc among the Crusaders) used tortoise shell, leather, cedar and olive wood glued together in short re-curve bows that could outrange a long bow quite handily, and punch through an armored knight at 200 yrds. Osage Orange does make nice bows.

As I said when we started this it is very experimental and some things would be tried and discarded if not working. Therefore I'm revising spending hit dice during a Long Rest to all your hit dice not half of them. Healing is just too slow if you can only spend half your dice. Anyone with the fighter class has a massive advantage over everyone else as they have 2nd wind which is recovered after a short rest.

Sorry, I overlooked the question. As only Cocklebur is native to North America your chances are slim that any of the plants will be found locally. Checking out botanical gardens and nurseries may bring you luck. Anyway lets see 2195 and the gods smile, you find some wild cockelbur plants

Aleister will take four of the arrows, remove the heads and attach the pieces of fuel line he cut, like large hypodermic needle tips, by fitting the shafts into the square cut ends. He will make a syrup from the Cockelbur using his herbal kit (Medicine + Proficiency 17) which he will fill the tip with, after he inserts a small piece of metal into the tube so the it slips easily; then fill the needle 3/4 with Cockelbur syrup and plug the sharp, slanted ends (the needle tip) with a bit of wax. When the arrow hits the target and slows down rapidly, the metal weight will continue moving, pushing the syrup forward, punching out the wax plug and injecting the recipient with a nasty surprise.
