OOC: Can we send the ever trustworthy Gamliel to check the suit's windows? It's possible news of the priestess' death has hit Portland. Don't want to walk into a trap. We also need to work on securing a route into the city and possibly a hiding place where we can wait so we can do two trips. Info on how to breach the city would be good too. Gates, guards, patrols, inspection methods, magical detection?
The birdie looks in the windows and sees expensive looking living quarters but no other people. During the day many people go in and out of the city. Locals and regular visitors seem to have papers that get a cursory inspection. Newbies get pulled aside and interviewed. As to hiding places, the population is about 1/5th of preChange. There are many abandoned buildings.
"We need to waylay one of these regulars and Charm them so I can get a good look at their papers. I can then duplicate it with an illusion to show if we need them."
We still will get in with invisibility if we can.

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
"Any illusion only needs to be of the text. I can cast it over a paper sheet and show what they want to see,."

"I was thinking more of a backup, just in case we needed to show them. We should certainly check the place out and slip in unnoticed first."

"Then lets see what Gamliel has to say about an easy and sneaky way into the city," Sarah suggests. "We can do a bit of checking too. Everyone help each other and let's get this done."

OOC: Hmm, are the dice gods trying to tell me something?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
THomas nods, using both his familiar's abilities and his own magic to scout and search from easy entrances.

There are ways into the city that avoid the guards. How lucky are you (high is good) 15 Fair enough, you enter the city and avoid the attention of the PPA guards. The general populace don't walk around in full armour and weapons. Usually nothing more than a belt knife is worn. People who are wearing swords are dressed as upper class and nobles. Full kit is only those who have just arrived in the city and haven't found lodging or are getting ready to leave town. They are subject to random stops by the town guard.
Once the group finds a quiet place on the outskirts of the main center, Thomas will tuck away the Ghillie suits and change his Disguise to match a regular, belt-knife-carrying townsfolk, slighter of build than average. This will conceal both his weapons and armor, so he can appear to be as defenseless as others. To help with their new 'home', he will Arcane Lock doors and such to protect their new digs, as well as silent Alarm spells on all likely entrances.

OOC - What about the slaves?
You mean serfs. They wear metal collars and are not armed. There aren't a lot of serfs in Portland, they are mainly on farms.
"So, if this place is truly a magic-poor zone, I should be able to use my Clairvoyance to scout out the room this key opens and see what's inside. Shall I?"

OOC: Invisibility and Pass Without Trace to sneak in. Two trips as necessary.

"Would that work?" Sarah asks. "They would want to examine them and their lack of substance would give them away. Could we forge them?"

"Good idea. If you show me your copy, then I can make one for me too," Sarah agreed.
Anything in particular with your 'volunteer' to show you his papers or just the next available farmer?
Well, since we don’t look much like farmers, I’d suggest a merchant and escorts.
Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
"That would make sense."
But of course a merchant with escort is far harder to ‘convince’ to ‘help’ than a farmer.
OCC You must be rofalyao Les, watchin’ us try an’ figur’ this out

"Let's just focus on stealth, then. We'd probably need papers for everyone and we can only magic up 2."

Aleister will give advantage to Gamliel if that is possible, if not to Thomas.
