Wakka was almost as quiet as the rogue, and made a quick excursion in the passage leading east from the entrance cave. He came to another wooden door to the south. Cracking the door open quietly, he sees a couple of humans in a large cavern beyond the door. He closes the door and quickly returns to the others.
Looking back at the group Penumbra notices that Wakka has gone off in a different direction. "We should stick together, let's go see what Wakka has found before we continue this way."
Slinking his way back to the others, he relayed "Two humans up ahead past another door; no sign of the wererats." Then looking to Penumbra, he asked, "Find anything on the other side?"
(Was Wakka able to tell if the humans were guards? Prisoners? Something else??)
‘Well, we killed the two wererats we’ve seen, but we don’t know who their allies might be. An untransformed wererat probably looks just like a human...?’
(Arcana - 9 / Nature - 8 to see what Manfred recalls about wererats!)
(Oops forgot that we had actually gotten both wererats before they escaped into the tunnels)
"I would think so though I only caught the barest of glimpses. I guess the question: Do we keep sneaking or try and get some answers - one way or another - from the two next door?"
"Might as well deal with a known versus an unknown." Wakka begans as he turned back towards the door in question. "Now the question is: do we go swords drawn or try for stealth or diplomacy first? Either route is by me but I expect no matter what we do, we'll eventually have to fight."

"Well, let's try knocking. When they answer as them where the boss is, tell em we're looking for jobs or something. If they ask how we got past the wererats just tell em we didn't see anyone. I'll hide back here and be ready incase things go badly."
Penumbra moves back around the corner and readies herself.
Wakka, Perkas, and Manfred Walk up to the door and knock loudly. After a moment or two, it opens slowly and a human male looks out. "Who are you and what do you want? How did you get in here?" Behind him you see another man, but the door blocks your vision of much beyond him. Wakka detects the sounds of movement from deeper inside the room.
Manfred steps closer, conspiratorially, drawing the man into his confidence. 'We're travellers who hoped to rest here, and were then accosted by wererats. You can trust that we'll be ensuring honest miners can return to work safely before we leave...'

The man is wiry and a bit twitchy, with thin hair and darting eyes. "Oh really?" he exclaims. "You took care of those wererats, huh? Well, thank goodness you are here to save us. Come on inside where it's safe." He opens the door all the way, and you see three other men and a woman in this large cavern. They each have a shortsword and a small, hand crossbow attached to their belts.
There is another passage leading south across the area from you, a passage leading east, and a larger opening on the north-east side that may lad to an adjacent cavern.
DCUnable to parse dice roll. Insight:
The man is obviously lying. They all look a bit...shifty.
When she can she will pop up and fire 2 bolts at whichever would be in sight not in faerie fire (blue or red). and after firing off move back into the hallway (15' in - 15' out) if she isn't engaged with anyone by the end of her turn.
Hit 1: 24 / dmg 7 Hit 2: 29 / dmg 9
(not sure by when my turn comes up if any will be within 5' of each other, but if so here would be the Horde breaker damage: Hit: nat 20 for 31 / dmg: Did my crit as 11)
(He would've gone to #2 to see what was ahead before returning to the others.

Manfred, not being a total idiot, immediately casts Faerie Fire on the wererats (DC14 Dex ST to avoid), and then jumps back out of the way.

Manfred hurls a flaming (level 2) Chromatic Orb at one of the wererats (purple), emboldened by his earlier success..
(16 to hit, 19 fire damage)
(btw, Manfred will use 'Cutting Words' as a reaction to the first rat to attack him, which will subtract 1d8 from their attack)
