Perkas snaps out two more shots at the dragon, hitting it once and bringing this combat closer to a successful conclusion. Wakka releases his readied action, landing a vicious attack on the dragon's head. He then manages to hold his ground, keeping the dragon partially in the Wall of Thorns, AND survive the strong assault! The fighter strikes again, mustering the fiercest assault he could muster in return, nearly slicing through the dragon's head and killing it!! (Wow, guys!! Great job - I didn't think you'd finish him off THIS quickly =)
Exploring the roof of the fortress, you are disappointed to not find any treasure horde! Perhaps Cryovain had not had time to accumulate any wealth - he had only been in the region for a few months, after all. There was the finely crafted axe and coral artistic additions to the broken chair in the room on this level that you can pick up...
Exploring the rest of the main floor of the fortress reveals little of value.
H13. Dining Room
Orcs destroyed everything in this room, going as far as to pull down a pair of chandeliers that once hung by chains from the ceiling. Smashed furnishings include a long wooden dining table and a dozen wooden chairs. Lying in the sooty fireplace is the stuffed and mounted head of a large white wolf with glassy blue eyes. The head once hung from hooks above the mantelpiece.
H14. Kitchen
The orcs trashed this room, destroying its furnishings and scattering debris everywhere. A cold breeze blows out of the twin fireplaces built into the south wall.
H15. Pantry
This room has been ransacked, leaving nothing but smashed shelves, broken barrels, torn sacks, and other detritus lying about. Amid the detritus, the characters find the skeletal remains of a male humanoid clad in a rusty breastplate.
H16. Armory
Weapon racks that once stood against the north and south walls lie smashed on the floor amid the remains of wooden mannequins. Rusty hooks on the walls once held armor, shields, and helms.
H17. Warlord’s Quarters
As her soldiers were dying from starvation, Delsendra Amzarr was forced to quell a revolt by a handful of followers. After slaying them, the warlord took her own life by drinking poison from a goblet. Skeletons scattered about the room testify to these events:
Three humanoid skeletons in rusty suits of chain mail lie on the floor near rusty longswords.
A fourth humanoid skeleton in rusty plate armor lies slumped in a chair that faces the fireplace. A steel goblet lies on the floor between the legs of the chair.
In the middle of the room stands a sturdy oak table around which Delsendra and her officers would plan battles. Tiny, carved wooden figures of soldiers are strewn about, as are the torn-up remains of old maps.
Secret Door. The secret door in the east wall pulls open to reveal a 3-foot-wide staircase that descends 10 feet to area H21.
If you decide to further explore the crypts beneath the fortress:
H21. Undercroft
This empty room is deathly cold. Chiseled into the lintel above each door is the word “CRYPTS” in Common.
H22. Crypts
These rough-hewn passageways contain unmarked stone caskets in alcoves. Sealed within each casket are the bones, rusty armor, and rusty weapons of warriors who fell in battle under Delsendra Amzarr’s command.
H23. Empty Crypt and Secret Exit
Of the five unmarked stone caskets in this tomb, four are empty. The middle casket contains a dismantled toboggan that takes 10 minutes to assemble. The toboggan was designed for barreling down the mountainside — a last-ditch escape route that was never used.
One-Way Secret Door. The secret door in the south wall is designed so that it can be opened only from inside the room by pulling on a hidden handle. A knock spell or similar magic can open it from the outside. The door opens onto a ledge overlooking an icy mountain slope.
Congratulations! You have defeated the Dragon of Icespire Peak and increased the renown of your Adventuring Guild! Everyone gains a level!
Perkas shakes her head a bit when she hears the killing blow and comes out from behind the wall scratching her head. "Well that was different than I thought it would be, but at least we are all ok." She walks out carefully toward the dragon and nods in agreement to Manny while chuckling a bit "he wasn't that scary, we should collect what we can. I'd like to take some extra scales if you all don't mind.”
Perkas will attempt to get what remains (innards, meat, horns, teeth whatever would be allowed that they can make money out of or can work into jewelry or armor.) she can as well as scales. "Anything anyone want specifically while I have this thing open?" She grabs a short sword and says a small prayer in thanks and respect to the magnificent creature. She'd never tell the others how in awe she is of this beast, but truly it is the most beautiful thing she has ever had the pleasure of huntinting.

Wakka nearly collapsed to the ground in exhaustion as soon as his sword dug deep into Cryovain's skull, ended the dragon's rampage before it could truly begin. Despite his body hurting all over and beginning to feel the effects of a wicked migraine due to all the mental energy he had used in the fight, Wakka couldn't help but have a wide grin plastered across his face; in fact he looked practically giddy! "It was a team effort Manny, though if you want to name the song after me go right ahead!" he shared with the Bard before beginning to laugh uncontrollably, whether due to excitement, pain, relief or shock he would never be able to truly say.
Once his laughing fit had (mostly) subsided, he plopped himself onto the ground as the others beginning milling about the dragon and the rest of Spire. After having slayed a dragon, little else at the moment seemed to matter to him or be worth investigating. When the party began taking trophies and other pieces from the beast, he rose from his spot and extricated 3 particularly small and shiny ones from the creatures neck, one for himself and the rest for two others should he ever see either of them again. Then preparing to sit down again, he spotted Manfred with the axe and approached him. "Mind if I hold onto that? Though it's not the most refined weapon in the world, I do need to return this sword on our return to the Guild and I'm the only one out of our merry band here who can wield it properly, especially while I have these gauntlets."
No matter how Manny responded, Wakka turned back towards Cryovain and the mountain ranges behind him and took a deep breath of cool morning air. All apart of of the plan... and one step closer to making my dreams a reality... He thought to himself in quiet contentment before hearing the tiefling's jest and turning towards her. "Now that sounds like a mighty fine idea and perhaps we can even add our portraits underneath it in commemoration, though only Gods know how in the Hells we'll get this body down the mountain; I certainly won't be doing that with. I am a Dragon-Slayer now after all." he added before bursting into laughter once again.
Once the group was patched up and ready to depart, Wakka led the group's trip down the mountain with more than a little pep in his step; and how could he not, they had just become legends after all!

Only the Ranger is able to pry or cut loose anything useful from the dragon. She ruins some things, but is able to come away with a handful of dragon scales and some meat (I don't know why... ever eat an opossum?!!?) Her true prize, however, is almost extracting the gland that helped the dragon to breath frost. Although Perkas nicked the outer lining, she is able to collect 2 bottles of the gland's contents. (These are potions of Dragon's Breath. You can throw a bottle at a point within 30 feet. Each creature in a 10' square must make a DC14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 3d6 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.)
((Manfred would ask one of the stronger members of the group to try and get him a fang. He’ll give them a 1d8 bardic inspiration to bolster their chances... ‘I know you’re stronger than you look. Plus I think we loosened one in the fight....’))
Perhaps gets to work on the dragon. Afterward she comes away sweat on her brow, but smile on her face with the scales, meat and 2 potion bottles.
She hands the scales out to those who want one, keeping one for herself. The bag of meat as the others look at her in question "hey, ya never know. Might make a good jerky or stew with the right spices. Wouldn't be right to just leave it to rot, something or someone will eat it....probably." She's excited to at least try a new recipe with a new animal, it's a hunter thing. She hopes one day she can tell her father about it.
She hands one of the bottles of dragons breath to Wakka, "think you want one of these? Might be a good option for you in a pinch."
When manny asks about the tooth she points at Wakka, "I don't think I could do it."
Though it took them much longer than expected, the party did indeed manage to bring the severed head of Cryovain back to the Guild Hall, much to the guild's excitement. Celebrating as hard as he ever had with anyone and everyone who happened to be around, the following few days were a blur for Wakka; his memory a mx of blank voids and small vignettes of humorous or wild events that had occurred during this time. His bender eventually over after almost three straight days of excitement, Wakka's head pounded in pain - mercifully for once of his own volition rather than due to an issue with his powers - and he spent the next few days relaxing before eventually returning to his training.
Whether awakened during his fight with Cryovain or through natural growth, Wakka found his body and movements unusually sharp once his training had restarted. He found his psionically-laced strikes to be unusually potent and - to his utter delight - that he had developed the ability to "fly" for short periods of time (though to anyone watching him, it simply looked like a series of controlled falls). Either way, things seemed to be on the up swing for Wakka and he was excited to see what adventure the guild would have for him next! Perhaps after a few more missions, he thought himself after a day of training, he'd finally earn enough fame to return home and finally prove to his family that he wasn't the failure they thought he was; though that was still a little ways off...
Upon returning to Phandalin Penumbra avoids the attention of the adoring towns folk. Disappearing into the shadows she makes her way directly to the secret entrance to the basement of the guildhall. Due to the dank conditions, lack of lighting, and huge crevasse that still emanates a dark magical aura few of the guild members choose to take a bunk down there. Currently there are only two residents of the guild's subterranean halls, Penumbra has laid claim to a room once occupied by the wizard Glasstaff. It is here that Penumbra spends her days studying any magical texts she can lay her claws on when not adventuring while, at night she roams the streets and roofs of Phandalin practicing her stealth skills and dispensing vigilante justice whenever the opportunity presents itself.
The other denizen of the guild's cellars is a goblin named Droop. Droop has been training hard in the absence of his tiefling friend and feels ready to join her on her adventures. He has been eagerly awaiting the return of the party and has prepared a welcome for Penumbra in his own mischievous way.
As Penumbra pushes aside the vines concealing the entrance to the tunnel leading into the basement she detects nothing unusual. Stepping inside she feels the pressure plate just as the trap is triggered. Attached to top of the tunnel is a large leather bladder which bursts open drenching Penumbra in bog mud. For a moment Penumbra stands motionless dripping stinking mud before she shakes like a wet dog flinging off as much of the mud as she can, then she starts carefully creeping forward through the tunnel. As she moves forward she scans the ground carefully looking for any pressure plates or tripwires which is why she fails to notice the wire suspended at just the right height to catch her horns as she moves forward. A dozen darts burst out from tiny holes drilled into the cave wall, luckily for Penumbra the tips are blunted making the impacts noting more than an annoyance. Feeling like an idiot she continues forward towards the end of the tunnel carefully searching the entire tunnel as she goes. Reaching the end of the tunnel she steps forward into the cavern that makes up a large portion of the basement. As soon as she steps into the cavern she expects another trap but is disappointed. "Well your traps are improving but I expected more." She remarks and she relaxes her guard, there is no response to her comment. Assuming that Droop is out on an errand she heads towards her room, after a few steps she suddenly finds herself hanging upside down by her feet as the final trap goes off. "DROOP!" Penumbra screams angrily as she struggles to free herself from the rope trap she is stuck in.
"HAHAHAHAHA! Got you I did, friend Penumbra."The mischievous goblin emerges from a dark side passage holding his belly and slapping his knee as he laughs.
"Get me down from here Droop before I roast you with a Fire Bolt." Penumbra growls at her apprentice.
Obligingly Droop moves to where the rope is anchored and cuts her free. "You see I have been training, learning. Ready, I am ready for adventuring."
Standing up Penumbra looks Droop in the eye and draws her short swords and hands one to Droop. "Prove it."
After a long sparring session Penumbra agrees to bring Droop along on her next adventure before she heads back outside to go for a swim in a nearby creek and wash the bog muck off herself.
On the way back to the guild from their latest adventure, Perkas couldn't help but be amazed by this dragon, Cryovain, who was now going on their wall. What a prize! What a hunt! It was for sure the largest thing that she helped takedown. She felt a sense of pride in the group she was part of. 'Oh, if only papa could see me now.' she thought as she smiled. There wasn't really a lot she could do to help carry this thing, but she did what she could when she could. The dragon meat was starting to stink up her bag, so she ended up leaving it off their path a bit where something would eat it. Seemed a shame to go to waste. She would rub the dragon scales in her pocket from time to time, eventually, she gave everyone one (not sure what a handful is, but if I have enough for everyone to get one, I'd hand them over) She was proud of this, their teamwork and wanted it to show.
When they got back, Perkas heads over to Sev and recounts some of the good bits of their adventure. She returns 20 bolts, the Potion of Vitality, and the Dragonguard breastplate. It felt good to get that thing off. She missed the simplicity of her leather armor. With a large tired sigh she says to her faceless friend, 'Ya know Sev...just feels good to be home.' with that she gives him and the others a salute and wave and heads back to her room at the guild. She sheds her winter clothes and gets ready for a nice long bit of sleep.
The next morning feeling well-rested and a bit sturdier Perkas dons her old gear. She takes a look around to see if they hung Cryovains head yet and if not, will give it a pat on the snout before heading out of the guild to see what has been going on in the town. During the busy time of day, she seems to move thru the crowd with ease, slipping thru and dodging people's legs, horse hooves, and the occasional kiddo mucking about. 'Too many people, Too many bodies' is the thought that races thru her mind as she sprints off to the outskirts of town to climb her favorite tree to sit and have a think. She missed nature too fast sometimes. She takes out one of the scales and looks at it overseeing how the light and the shadows dance across its surface and wonders what she is going to do with it. She's never been one for jewelry, she sure as hell doesn't trust anyone but herself to get it to her family back in Jalanthar.
Her mind wanders as the sun moves in the sky, thinking about Kin and how really truly amazing that bowstring has been. The forest shadow that they faced, and how Belgo is doing. She thinks about her party members and what they are up to and comes to the conclusion that living and working with a good group isn't all that bad and that she should make the most of it. They did just kill a damn dragon for Pete sake.
Manfred is uncharacteristically silent on his return from the dragon slaying. His mind processing the events, and the closeness of death. Despite the dragon's stupidity, and malice, the destruction of such a force of nature is always a solemn matter.
He also spends some time roughing out his promised ballad for Wakka...
'The brave adventurers, stalwart and sane, Determined to end the dragon's reign, They offered escape, showed the dragon the way, Yet seeking to end the threat, their arguments lost sway
Mighty the dragon, the cruel Cryovain, Cold as the Winter, yet dumb as a splinter, Offered escape, he chose to stay, Vowing to make these interlopers pay.
The fierce battle begun, with the bard's sharpest tongue, But the dragon's cold breath, brought close the chill of death, Yet the adventurers prevailed, the dragon assailed, First by thorns, ringed and sharp, but then by will, Sword sharp as a quill, the dragon paid his bill.
Humble Wakka, standing tall, watches the fall, Of the mighty, now silent, Cryovain...'
On his return, Manfred uses his sending stone to check in with Belgo, to make sure he and his father are still well, and then uses any spare time continuing his studies in Elven, intent on ensuring he can do Noomi's songs justice, and with an intent on a later return to the Elves...
In the weeks following the groups return and the removal of the dragon threat, life slowly returns to normal. But Phandalin has changed since Penumbra first arrived here over a year ago - or has it been two? The small mining community has more than doubled in size, in large part due to the booming success of the Adventurer's Guild. The arrival of more adventurers resulted in more businesses in town, safer travel routes along the High Road and Triboar Trail, and greater renown in the surrounding area, which led to more adventurers arriving...and the cycle continues. The Mine at Phandelver has recently commenced operations - another boon to both population and income. As promised, the dwarven brothers pay the Adventurer's Guild 10% of their profits as thanks. In return, the Guild offers reduced rates for protection details of their shipments of ore and provisions. Although nowhere near the size of Neverwinter, Phandalin is now a well-established minor city.
High Road
This highway hugs the coast, connecting Neverwinter to the coastal cities of Luskan to the north and Waterdeep to the south. For years, the stretch of road south of Neverwinter fell into disuse because of frequent monster attacks. Recently, efforts have been made to keep the road safe, with light patrols of guards on horseback moving between Neverwinter and Leilon.
Kryptgarden Forest
This ancient forest tucked behind the Sword Mountains contains the ruins of bygone dwarven civilizations.
Leilon
This small town along the High Road is in the midst of rebuilding itself after being abandoned for years.
Mere of Dead Men
Travelers on the High Road, which skirts the mere to the east, must resist being lured into the cold and desolate waters. Many have perished in the mere, drawn by tales of ruined castles half-sunk in the mire.
Neverwinter
This city was badly damaged when Mount Hotenow erupted some fifty years ago. Now, the City of Skilled Hands works to rebuild under the watchful eye of its Lord Protector, Dagult Neverember, who rules in the absence of an heir to Neverwinter’s crown. At present, no legitimate heirs to the old Alagondar royal line are known to exist, and many believe that the line is ended.
Neverwinter Wood
The forest east of Neverwinter seems to have a magical quality about it, or at least an air of mystical secrecy. Reclusive spellcasters are rumored to dwell deep within.
Phandalin
Nestled in the foothills of the Sword Mountains, Phandalin is a successful mining city that recently had dealings with a white dragon named Cryovain. The dragon was dispatched by a group of adventurers.
Starmetal Hills
This range of rocky knolls is so named because the area has been the impact site of a number of meteor showers over millennia. The hills are haunted by ruthless barbarian tribes, giving others little reason to visit the area.
Sword Mountains
These steep, craggy, snow-capped mountains are home to scattered tribes of orcs as well as many monsters. Icespire Peak is the tallest among them. Their foothills are strewn with the ruins of bygone kingdoms, and more than a few half-forgotten dungeons and tombs.
Triboar Trail
This path south of Neverwinter Wood is the safest route between Neverwinter and the town of Triboar, located in the Dessarin Valley to the east. The trail is now patrolled by the Phandalin Adventurer's Guild, reducing but not entirely eliminating monster attacks.

Zoldier’s Curse of the Crimson Throne: DM/ Redii || Zoldier's Strange Aeon's: DM
Got you I did, friend Penumbra." The mischievous goblin emerges from a dark side passage holding his belly and slapping his knee as he laughs.
Perkas Brightmoon | Rhanloi's Romp Through the Sword Coast
Ciradyl | Lost In Time
Manfred is uncharacteristically silent on his return from the dragon slaying. His mind processing the events, and the closeness of death. Despite the dragon's stupidity, and malice, the destruction of such a force of nature is always a solemn matter.
He also spends some time roughing out his promised ballad for Wakka...
'The brave adventurers, stalwart and sane,
Determined to end the dragon's reign,
They offered escape, showed the dragon the way,
Yet seeking to end the threat, their arguments lost sway
Mighty the dragon, the cruel Cryovain,
Cold as the Winter, yet dumb as a splinter,
Offered escape, he chose to stay,
Vowing to make these interlopers pay.
The fierce battle begun, with the bard's sharpest tongue,
But the dragon's cold breath, brought close the chill of death,
Yet the adventurers prevailed, the dragon assailed,
First by thorns, ringed and sharp, but then by will,
Sword sharp as a quill, the dragon paid his bill.
Humble Wakka, standing tall, watches the fall,
Of the mighty, now silent, Cryovain...'
