You look for cover amid the rubble as you move towards the High Hall, but is no use, the hell hounds have seen you and they leap of of the stairs in front of the doors and rush towards you.
"Alright puppies lets play"as Tibi cries as he launches into the air and spears towards the Hell hound on the left striking with his swords as he flies past on its far side - i.e. away from the Hell Hound on the right - and uses Fancy flight to avoid its attack of opportunity {Rapier - Attack: 24 Damage: 8 & Shortsword - Attack: 27 Damage: 7 plus Sneak attack of 8}

Tibi launches his attack on the hound on the left and his blades rip long lines across its body, flames seem to leak like blood. A moment later Drabash bounds forward and with a few might swings cuts the head off of the fiend as the body burns away into ashes.
Gilbert, meanwhile, points his wand at the remaining hound and the magical darts slam into its body, sparks flying as the each hit.
Darvin stares down the beast, with a flicker of a vaguely demonic visage briefly appearing on his face as he mutters an incantation, and then attempts to stab it with his rapier, which releases a burst of thunderous energy as it strikes.

Gil would continue to point his wand and cast magic missile towards the hellhound once again, sending multicolored streams of light flying through the air towards the creature.
Tibi indeed does swoop in and in short order the remaining hell hound burns away into ash and is gone.
With the entryway (H1) clear the group runs up the stairs and enters the High Hall. At the top of the stairs leading up to the cathedral, an archway opens into a long hall containing eight columns. Some of the columns have been carved to represent Torm, but the infernal magic of Avernus has warped the others to represent likenesses of a winged female devil wielding a luminous sword. The wooden doors leading into the grand foyer have been broken open and remain ajar. Four guards lie dead in the doorways.
Throughout the main floor you see that it once was decorated with beautiful paintings, statues, and other works that depicted the strength and valor of Elturel’s people but now its artwork is a testament to the devils’ superiority and strength, showing scenes of mortals succumbing to temptation, dying at the hands of fiends, and suffering eternal torture. When viewed, those images shift and swirl unsettlingly.
The foyer (H2) holds two circular stairwells, each leading up to what Reya calls the choir level. Decorated pillars here depict symbols and scenes representative of Torm. Curtains, some of them shredded by weapons and claws, separate this area from the heart of the cathedral.
An altar (H3) rests on a raised dais in this broad hall. Made of beautifully polished teakwood, it takes the shape of a gauntleted hand clenched into a fist. A large lever stands next to the altar, suggesting that it has some sort of mechanical function.
Reya turns to Darvin "Touch the altar and the power of Torm may heal you. In fact any who are hurt could be healed by touching it." She says. Roll a Religion check to be healed.
Off to each side are areas (H4) that can be curtained off but the curtains have been torn down or are ripped and tattered. Each of these areas contains the bodies of dead guards, as well as the foul remains of infernal creatures that died during the fights in the cathedral. The columns at the north and south ends of each area have stone altars set before them.
Ahead you see circular stairs that Reya tells you led to residences and offices. They are now choked with rubble.
At the west end of the hall is a private chapel (H6) that holds a desecrated altar with a decidedly fiendish air. Once dedicated to Torm, the altar’s features have been defaced with blood, ichor, and torn strips of flesh lashed together with sinew and intestines. Any who approach too close suddenly feel ill and weak.
Feel free to describe any additional searching or actions, etc... you take.

Showing scenes of mortals succumbing to temptation
Tibi looks at the pictures commenting "I thought I was pretty flexible but I don't think I could do that!"He then examines the bodies trying to ascertain how long they've been dead and what might have killed them {3}

Darvin considers Reya's suggestion... "The gods and I have not been on the best of terms in my life, but... I suppose it can't hurt." He reaches out and attempts to perform a prayer to Torm, as best as he can remember hearing it...
As Darvin makes his prayer to Torm a warm feeling flows up his arms and covers his whole body. A moment later his wounds have been healed and he feels at full strength again.
Tibi, judging by the burns and claw marks he see, is able to determine that it is likely that devils or demons of some type killed the people.
As he inspects the bodies one of them, a man, opens his eyes and looks around. He doesn't appear to be undead.
The man slowly got up. He dusted himself off and looked around. "Well, you aren't devils, I can tell that." Then seeing Reya his face brightens.
"My name is Seltern Obranch, I have dedicated my life to Silvanus. We were transported here, the whole city! Whereever this is. Devils and other monsters appeared in the city, the ground shook, buildings collapsed. Few people even survived what happened. I had been helping survivors, feeding them with Goodberrys as they gathered here at the High Hall. Then the cathedral was attacked directly."
The man looks around again, seemingly lost, his words at times tumble out, at others hesitantly. He is clearly traumatized.
"I was here when the attack took place. After being knocked down in the melee, I feigned my demise to trick the attackers. Anyone left in the cathedral knew to flee to the main crypts. I presume that is where the rest of the survivors have gone. We were led by Grand Duke Ravengard of Baldur's Gate."
We were led by Grand Duke Ravengard of Baldur's Gate.
Tibi turns to Reya "can we trust this bloke?"

Tibi turns to the rest of the party "all right gentlemen looks like we need to head down to these crypts if we want more information!"He then heads off towards the area labelled 'S'.
