This time Kaelani's aim is true and the ball of energy slams into the narzagon covering it with a dim light.
Suddenly in a very loud and commanding voice Darvin orders the Narzagon to grovel and it falls to the ground prone.
The narzagon has had to shed its shield to wield its lance two handed now that he has been unhorsed and Tibi's strikes land true as he pierces the armor of the fiend. Drabash also steps in and slams his axe twice into the creature.
Lulu, still trying to catch up flies away from the dead hellwasp and whatever horrors it would have faced in the massive nest.

Seeing the melee and wrestling match on the ground, the paladin turned sorcerer draws his magic longsword and moves in to take a double-handed swing at the devil, taking care to not hit his party member! Attack with Inspiration: 32 Damage: 14

Tibi and Darvin hack at the prone fiend and then Darvin tries to pin him to the ground. But the strength of the creature is too much and it rolls over and slips away from Darvin. It rolls onto its back and is about to stand when Kaelani steps over top and drives his blade into the chest of the creature ending its life.
"Kaelani, did you forget where we are? I think it's already there..." Darvin snarks, brushing himself off and standing up from his near miss attempt to wrestle the armored devil.
"Well. Glad that's taken care of... You doing ok, Drabash?" he asks.

Kaelani looks at the other members of the party to assess who would need healing. Drabash's comment draws him first. "Here, my new friend. Let the healing power of my master wash through you and relieve your pain." The aasimar lays his hands on the half-orc and a golden light wells up between them. (Combining a number of traits for 12 hp of healing, then casting cure wounds at 3rd level to heal 17 more!)
Lulu the hollyphant rejoins the group and is very grateful for stopping the hellwasp and apologizes for leading them to the wrong place.
"I admit that my memory of the Bleeding Citadel is hazier than I initially realized. This is not the place. Having pondered my dreams further, I can think of two sites in Avernus that seem important to finding the Citadel: a place where demons manifest, Demon Zapper and another where demons are destroyed Spawning Trees."
Lulu has no preference which to investigate first, so she points out both locations on the map.
Demon Zapper is across the molten river and to the west while Spawning Trees is south of where Fort Knucklebone is.
Drabash suggests that this may be a good time to have a short rest, and perhaps the spawning trees would be the best next place to look, it is closer and on this side of the River Styx.
Kaelani watches the ritual with interest but also keeps an eye out for trouble. "Perhaps we could rest a bit longer to be ready for the next trial we are sure to face. Especially if we have a secure lodging such as this..."(Long rest?)
OoC: I'm happy with either short or long... It doesn't seem like we're under particular time pressure, so maybe it's as good a time as any for a long rest... It's been since we climbed down from Elturel that we've had one, right?

OoC: Doesn't the narzugon have to spend its turn falling prone, per command?

Yes you are correct and then also end its turn immediately.
So players back up, Narzagon is prone so attacks within 5 feet have advantage and ranged attacks disadvantage.
Once again Tibi swoops in (Rapier = Attack: 26 Damage: 12 and Shortsword Attack: 21 Damage: 7) and sneak attack =10

Extra crit damage from flourish: 1
Darvin's AC is increased by 4 to 23 until the end of his next turn.
He will also give 1d8 bardic inspiration to Kaelani.

Drabash inspects his wounds, "Hmmm," he says with an air of understatement, "it might be worth patching these up a little."

"As good a rationale as any," Darvin says. "I'm all for some recuperation after that fight."
If there are no objections, he begins the process of conjuring a small dome for shelter from the landscape (as a ritual).
