"Are you guys ok!?!" Gilbert would exclaim rushing forwards towards the injured Whistler and Darvin "I am sorry I wasnt brave enough to get any closer to that monster! I gave it everything I could!" The small verdan would say as his ears sway back ad forth, his large eyes shifting to look at the floor as though embarrassed. at the mention of taking a short rest, Gil would pipe up excitedly. "Yes, you guys rest! I will look around and see if there are any treasures or artifacts that need collected to be divided up later! dont worry, I will have Herbert here keep an eye out for dangers and have him let me know of anything tries to sneak up on us!" The small verdan would say gesturing to the spectral bat. "I would get to work on removing the heads but I am not sure I am strong enough..." Gil would mention, looking once more at the ground as though disappointed in himself.
"Yes, cutting off the heads! I almost forgot! I can probably take care of that before I rest," Darvin says. While Gil looks around for treasure, Darvin pulls out the greatsword that Sir Tristan gave him, and begins to slice off the Thessalhydra's heads with it.
Tibi practices his lunges and ripostes - effectively shadow fighting - looking angry and frustrated that he did not manage to hit once in three strikes.
As Gilbert comes across the various coins and treasures, he would let out excited squeals and noises as he quickly scribbles down his findings and puts the items in his pack. "Guys! There is a lot of stuff in here! I found some scrolls you guys might find useful and a driftglobe. There are a bunch of gems here as well! We will have to split them all up when we get back to headquarters after gettting our reward for killing the hydra! "Gil would shout excitedly.
"Are you all feeling good enough to travel back to town? You all fought very bravely. I hope I get to be as brave as you some day!" He would say glancing to each of his companions. His eyes would then rest on Darvin. "So Verdan go through a number of changes as we age... our skin color, size, ears... they all change over the course of our lifetime.. .at least that is what the few older Verdan have experienced.. we are a pretty new race.... Do human faces change often?" He would ask with a curious expression as he finishes grabbing his pack from the ground and tossing it over his shoulder. "I admit most my business dealings in the past were with dwarves and elves.. so I might be a little slow to how humans work....."

Hit Dice+Song of Rest: 6
OoC: If you are spending any hit dice during the rest, you get an extra 1d6 from Darvin's Song of Rest (once, not per hit die).
Darvin leans against a cave wall to catch his breath and recover some of his energy. The others feel a healing warmth radiating from him as they rest themselves, enhancing their own natural recovery processes.
In response to Gil's question, he fumbles over his words a bit, a rare occurrence for the normally quick-talking bard.
"Ah, well um... normally no, humans don't change their faces without some kind of magic behind it. I... my... this face is only half human, being the product of an elven parent and a human parent, but... well half-elves don't normally change their faces either. I... well, we nearly died together, and if it weren't for you I likely would have so I suppose the least I can do is to give you the truth. This face is not my natural born one. I am what other races refer to as a Changeling; a race of shapeshifters. We can change our appearances to look like other creatures --- those we've seen before, anyway."
At this point his speech becomes more fluid.
"This half-elf body, and in fact the name Darvin, is that of an adventurer I met before I myself took up adventuring. He and his traveling companions fought off an invasion of my city by cultists of Asmodeus, but... well, to make a long story short while his party ultimately prevailed, Darvin lost his life protecting our village. I became an adventurer, adopting his appearance and name, to honor that sacrifice and carry on his noble mission."
As he tells this story the more insightful members may get a sense that he may be mixing truth and contrivance...
Gil would lock eyes with Darvin as he tells his story, rubbing his ear and then his chin as he listens. While listening, the Verdan would gently probe the thoughts of his friends mind.. trying to see if his thoughts and words are matching up..

Not sure if any of these apply but my thought was that if I get advantage on charisma and wisdom saving throws because the thought is that you can prod their mind and see if they are telling the truth, that I could RP this for my insight check.....

Gilbert starts to nod along and smile as his friend tells his story. "WOW! that is pretty neat! So you used to look like you did when we were fighting and then decided to change your appearance to look like your dead friend. That is a neat way to honor them. Have you ever looked like anyone else? It take me a while to change my features. That ability seems pretty neat!" Gilbert would say as he begins to head down the south eastern path with his sparkly bat Herbert scouting ahead.

After the fight, Whistler goes through a series of stretches and slow movements that allow him to heal and stay limber after taking so much damage. (Picturing something like Tai Chi).
Hit Die + Song of Rest: 5
As he goes through these movements he listens to Darvins story.
Insight: 16
He finds nothing wrong with the story as it is told.
After the party rests (feel free to roll more hit dice if you want more healing) you move to the next room. You are not alerted to any danger and find the room empty of living beings.
However, you do find a number of niches carved into the walls that look to have small containers. In the center of the room is a rock that seems to also hold something.
You see a passageway that disappears into darkness to the south.
Tibi pulls his light crossbow off his back checks it is loaded and flies up to a height of about 15 feet and just keeps watch to both ends of the corridor
As you look around the room you find a number of small niches. Inside are small bowls or trays. On the rock "table" is also a flat tray. Treasure is found in and on these. Its almost as if someone, or something, has left the stuff on purpose, possibly as offerings.
After collecting it all you find 600 gp, Small Bag of Spices (25 gp), Small Vial of Perfume (25 gp), Silver Cloth Talisman (25 gp), Feathered Sash (25 gp), Pewter Shortsword Scabbard (25 gp), Feathered Boots (25 gp), Iron Comb (25 gp) Feather Token, Glamerweave, and a Tankard of Sobriety.
Gil would move around and write down all of the new findings, sitting on the floor as the new treasures are piled up in front of him. "Alright! Lots of stuff to add. This is looking like it should be a pretty lucrative job!" he would exclaim excitedly as he takes his notes and puts the items into the bag. "Let me know if any of you plan to hold on to any of these items. I can record who is in possession of equipment if it is something you would like to have. The Verdan would say with a smile as he brushes his ear out of the way while he continues to write in the book. Once all the items have been recorded and collected, he would continue on his way looking for the exit. He would send Herbert out front to scout for dangers.

Darvin finds that the great sword easily cuts the heads off of the Thessalhydra. You collect them in the bags of holding.
Looking around the room you find it to be dirty with piles of stuff but with some diligent looking you find
1900 cp, 1100 sp, 270 gp, 3 x Bloodstone (50 gp), Chalcedony (50 gp), Moonstone (50 gp), 2 x Quartz (50 gp), Star rose quartz (50 gp), Zircon (50 gp), Spell Scroll (Mage Hand), Spell Scroll (Mending), Spell Scroll (Thunderwave), and a Driftglobe.
