Nobody started to immediately shake his head at money, only to freeze up at the mention of information. "A chance to study things magical."He replied more softly than intended, and with a troubled look about his face, pulled a black, iron rod from an inner pocket of his robes. 'Oh! Wait, it must mean--' His thoughts end there as he pulls out the leaf figurine, having still not quite figured out 'what' it did, and subsequently filled away in mind for research later.
He then sighs heavily and back tracks a bit into the cavern once more, and holds it out in the air. "I've changed my mind, Shy One. You tell us all you know about redbrands here, in exchange for this. You help us fight them, and... you may receive things to study in the future."
(At first figured he might meant the spellbook, but forgot those don't radiate magic. Unlike focuses)
"I could cast my light spell on a piton, and throw it into the chasm it could study that for a few minutes.. But then I'll need it back. But I wonder why its in here?"
"Rather not potentially antagonize it with duplicity, Ms. Margret."He whispers back to her without fully taking his eyes away from the figurine in hand. "But the why's seemed to do with something in the chasm already here. Something magical, given its apparent tastes."

Margret sees the Figurine her and Maltake found in the box Mal opened with her thieves tools. Not really seeing a reason to whisper anymore cause she is sure the whatever it is knows where they are she starts but then remembers the redbrands and whispers
"I suppose that would be a fair trade for help in finishing our job, Maybe it could do more than advise if its willing."
Kai thinks for a moment before tilting her head. "I suppose we could trade that yeah... but how trustful is this creature? And it's a shame we havent gotten to identify that just yet.

"I needed far more time to study it. Material too for a particular spell that.... admittedly, I haven't gotten quite down. Yet." Nobody frowns and shakes his head dismissively. "But irregardless, if nothing else the item should be enough to buy discretion, and neutrality. /That/, I do trust. And if it should wish confrontation, better it is out in the open now, than with it skulking at our backs, waiting to strike for being spurned."

(I presume it is not an item you can attune to. And even if it was, I didn't say during any of the short rest we took that I tried studying it more closely to learn it secrets... assuming the Xanathar's Guide way of discovery was available)
Nobody clicks his tongue, and after only a brief hesitation, drew close enough to the chasm for long, spindly arms to reach out and drop the leaf. 'This better be worth it' He thought, mildly distraught over the loss of such a boon.

“The leader is gone. He left about an hour ago. When all the bugbears were runing east and all the humans north. One human ran south with the leader. I didn’t see the goblin, he may still be here, maybe one or two humans, didn’t count them. The leader, they call him Glassstaff, He pretends to be a human, but his mind isn‘t, his mind is shielded. The Bugbears minds are easy to read. The Leader changed his shape and pretended to be those two corpses down there. One was a spie from Neverwinter, the other a woodworker who made trouble. They follow a Darkelf warlock who made a packt with Loth. There are three generals, Glassstaff, another shapechangers and a darkelf hunter. They search an old cave, a forge, a treasure. A fair trade is fullfilled.“
"We were too late." A crestfallen Nobody muttered to himself. "... Did they know or ever mention the name Iarno Alberk? Any--"The rest catches in his throat, as the last words of the creature echoes back in mind. "... We thank you for your time. A fair trade has been fulfilled."He states, and then after shooting the rest a warning look, he holsters the crossbow as he made his way down the thus far unexplored corridor. "Let's not press specter. Unless you have genuine magic to trade, or knowledge to share." He added in passing.

"We find this goblin he mentioned, confirm the brands are truly gone, and anything they might've left behind in their hurry to leave."Nobody clarified without looking away from the path ahead. Or more specifically, the door at the bottom of the stairs. Either out of thoughtlessness or simple forgetfulness, he immediately tries to open the door for a look inside.

You open the door and you see another barracks. This barracks contains four roughly built wooden bunks, with heaped-up blankets and dirty dishes scattered about. A strong smell of unwashed bodies and rotten meat fills the air.
