Brask can hear bones breaking inside the massive beast as his first attack smashes into it. The second strikes true as well, and the beast's pained grunt gives away just how injured it is at this point.
Kurama nearly passed out from the strike that hit him suddenly in the darkness. Taking a few labored breaths, he eventually steeled himself and renewed his attack with renewed vigor! When he connected, remembering a move that Tora had used on him repeatedly when they sparred, Kurama attempted to temporarily stun the creature into inaction. Rather than using a simple palm strike though, he somehow modified the technique by using the energy coursing through & around him instead to debilitate the mammoth.
Attack: Hit- 15/ Damage- 5 Force
Extra Attack: Hit- 27 (Nat 20!!!)/ Damage- 14 Force
BA Martial Arts Attack: Hit- 14/ Damage- 6 Force
Stunning Strike: DC15 CON Save or the creature is Stunned until the end of Kurama's next turn.
Unpracticed using the Stunning Strike technique, Kurama applied way more force than expected and ended up accidently "launching" the mammoth into the air. But because the creature was so large, it was only pushed a few feet away before falling dead to the ground.
Brask prods the darkness with his maul. Hearing Pip, he calls out: Yep! Hey what's up with this darkness thing? Can you turn it off? We got good food spoiling in here.
With the beast fallen, Wakka stumbled out of the darkness and landed heavily on the ground. "That, was truly, unexpected..." Kurama began slowly, pausing longer than normal between words and phrases to take deep breaths and center himself. "Do we, have any, idea, where we are?" he asked the others in the same drawn out fashion.

Effort drops the darkness, and you find yourselves next to the fallen mammoth. Even on its side, the beast is as tall as Brask.
Looking around the landscape, you see a flat, slightly rocky expanse to your north with a thin layer of recent snowfall. To the east, you see mountains far off in the distance. Kurama, you realize they look quite similar to the White Wind Mountains. And with the temperatures and snowfall, you must be pretty far north.
(Think west and slightly north of the last "s" in "Mountains")
As Kurama meditated, a thought suddenly occurred to him, causing him to open his eyes and look around the area once again. "I think I know, where we are..." he began, beginning to increase the how quickly he spoke. "I think, we're to the west, of the White Wind Mountains." He then pointed in the general direction of the peaks in the distance.
Near anywhere interesting? Brask asks, looking around as the darkness fades. Oh, hey Pip. You okay? He wanders over to inspect the goblin. Kurama, give me a hand chopping this beast up.Brask's stomach rumbles loudly as he returns to the fallen creature and starts preparing it for conversion into rations.I reckon we rest here before heading off, right? Where are we going, by the way?
Effort, grimacing, still applies herself to assisting Brask with the carcass, fully committed to her words about eating the beast when it fell.
"West of the White Wind Mountains?" Effort squints, trying to remember the nearest settlement. "We need to get in touch with the Promise, since he was the one who knew the secret to jumping the plains. Or the Sons of Osthait to update them on the situation. I have no idea how to do the former, but the latter likely involves traveling to the nearest larger city." She scowls as she orients herself slightly. "We're to the north of the continent. I'm not familiar with this area, but I've heard rumors of a band of would-be arakocran do-gooders who hunt down people like me around here somewhere."
Touching her forehead, Effort tries to recall her research from her days at the library to figure out where to travel to next.
Pip is still nursing his injuries from earlier, but is seemingly doing okay. "I'm fine, I'm fine - just didn't do much in that fight. I didn't want to shoot you..."
Effort, you know that the dwarven settlement of Frost Shore lies at the mouth of one of the great northern rivers. It's not a large city on the scale of Lovilra or even Gorta, but it might be the only civilization around for miles.
Well, you didn't, so don't worry. Even if you did, it's fine. You know I can take it.
How much usable meat do we get?
We should find a city. A big city. With a tavern. That last place sucked. Like, the whole world just sucked. We should celebrate that we survived. And succeeded, I guess?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Until the demon prince is stopped, celebration may be premature," Effort says, practical as ever. She does relent slightly as she looks down at the mangled carcass of the mammoth, the hint of a smile appearing through her normally frosty expression, though. "Though, we will rest and eat well tonight, that much we can agree upon. Although if we can't find a campsite, we may be sleeping within this beast for warmth in the night air. I would very much rather not," she adds with a grimace. "There is a dwarven settlement near here, though. Frost Shore, near the mouth of one of the great northern rivers. It is our best hope for civilization in these wilds."
As the party works, Effort has Cadmael scout about to make sure no danger or other unusual issues approach the party. (23)
You all set to work on the mammoth and it provides more meat than even Brask could possibly eat or carry. Pip insists it's delicious raw, though some of you may opt to wait until it's cooked over a campfire before partaking. Everyone gain 1d8 combat inspiration - basically bardic inspiration except you can use it on almost anything. Add it to damage, to AC for a turn, etc.
Cadmael sets off and climbs quickly into the sky, banking to the east and then circling around to the west. Far off to the northeast, at least a couple of miles away, he sees a small herd of mammoth moving across the rocky tundra. To the northwest, a small plume of smoke curls upward. A campfire, probably. There is still a bit of daylight but night is drawing nearer.

Kurama, how do you finish this mammoth!?

Things become a little quieter and the darkness remains still. Pip looks to Effort. "What...did they...kill it?"
Cadmael comes flying out confidently and lands on Effort's shoulder.

Everyone, give me a history or nature check. Kurama, if you roll history, do so with advantage.
