Bertrand is going to move to smack the halfing on the back of the head and step in front of him before the elves turn them into a pincushion. "That would be correct "
Maya would raise a brow and just blink at the Lightfoot breaking out in laughter. She’d meet eyes with Bertrand after his smack, nodding in approval. She’d relax her arm holding the spear, to hopefully help ease any new tension from Gridolfos outburst.
The elves frown at Gridolpho's outburst , but take no hostile action. "Perhaps, Master Halfling you ask Eliander how he lost his leg before disparaging him so." retorts the leader. He turns to Bertrand. "We know of this cult that you speak of. However, their lair is not in our domain. It lies a Sun's journey to the southeast." If you would like we can show you a path."
Maya would nod to Bertrand in thanks before stepping forward to address the group of elves. She’d bow her head in respect before speaking, “We would greatly appreciate your assistance to pass through the Dreadwood. Speaking for myself, it will put my mind at ease knowing we have allies familiar with the terrain. My intuition was dreading this trek as we approached; my senses uneasy.”
Toonary smacks Gridolpho in the back of the head with one hand and pulls a piece of bacon out of his pocket with the other, hooks arms with the end and says "I'll be your friend."
(OOC I can't wait to run into Eliander Fireborn so I can point out that his leg and badge don't match)
The leader inclines his head at Maya's compliment. "Alas, we can but show you the path to your destination, for we have more pressing needs that must be attended to with haste." He informs the Heroes. "I will offer this warning to you. Stay on the path. Do not leave it for any reason for if you do, its magic will no longer protect you. Also, The Dreadwood will try to lure you deeper into her vile grasp. You must resist." The elf sternly warns the group as his gaze catches each of your own.
"Come now we will show you the way." As he, and the other elves head back into the forest.
Maya cant help but chuckle with a smile seeing Toonary still trying to make friends with bacon.
“Thank you. We appreciate what time you can give. And the advice you just shared.” She would nod in thanks again to the elves, ignoring Gridolpho’s outburst.
Maya would look back to the others, “You’ve heard the warning. It is up to you to take it seriously. As I can’t say I’d be so inclined to save you from your own impulses.” Truthfully though, she probably would.
She’d look back to the elves, “I won’t speak for the others on this one, but I do wish all goes well with the pressing matters you have on hand. For your help today, I would like to offer you assistance in return, should you find yourself in need.” Maya would then make gesture with her arm as if she were saying ‘please lead the way’, ready to follow their directions.
The elves lead the Party to a small trail that appears to run deeper into the Dreadwood. "As I said earlier you will find those you seek a day away." The leader tells you. Should you encounter no delays, you should reach a Wayfarer Tree an hour before sundown. I strongly suggest you seek its shelter for the night." He warns the Party.
Betrand follow while doing his best to resist gagging Gridolpo so that the halfling does not get them into trouble, making sure tomorrow a mental note of the warning they are given.
The path is fairly easy to follow, and the flora and fauna seem to be what one would expect in a forest. The trees look normal, and you occasionally get a glimpse of a squirrel going about its business in the trees. However, after a couple of hours traveling you come upon a small herd of deer grazing by the path only a few yards ahead of the Party. A couple of the deer raise their heads and look in your direction while sniffing the air. Then, they return to grazing.
((lol omg I’m a terrible Druid. I don’t even have beast bond or animal friendship. Any one else have anything to help?))
Maya would reach into her pack, grabbing some dried fruit and grains from her rations. She’d separate herself from the group a little bit to show space, but remain on the path. She’d reach out towards them with the snacks to invite them closer, maybe they may able to sense her good intentions to inspect closer.

Argus stands by waiting for Bertrand to answer...
"That would be most appreciated.", Betrand says as he turns to look at the rest of the group to see if they were ok with the following the elves.

As soon as the word "halfling" leaves the elf's lips, Gridolpho's expression immediately changes to one nearing rage.
The words "Listen here, bigjob..." get out of the thief's mouth before Bertrand wisely grabs him by the collar and muffles him.

Gridolpho heads down the path, grumbling to himself.
"Stuffy, puffed up, arrogant, pointy-eared..." etc. etc.
He kicks at pebbles and occasionally picks up dead twigs and snaps them before throwing them off the path.

The Druid extends her hand towards the deer whom pay no attention, and keep gazing.
(Maya) The deer are feeding a few feet off the path.
