Judging from the stove along one wall, this room once served as a Gallery. Now this area is cluttered with bones, and debris. Badly damaged knives and other cookware hang from hooks in the ceiling, while the choking stench of rotting flesh fills the air. A staircase leads up near the stern. Tiny spiders crawl over everything. A trapdoor with a metal bar inserted through rusty brackets is in the center of the room.
(We're going to skip opening the hatch part, and get straight to the Hold.)
This deck runs the length of the ship and features no bulkheads or walls. Dark, murky seawater fills it to a depth of three feet, sloshing against old, moldering crates piled against the ship's port hull.
(The water is difficult terrain for medium characters. Small characters will have to swim. Strength (Athletics ) Check DC 12.)

If she's allowed a surprise attack:
Maya will call upon a mouldy vine to lash out from the floor of the ship near her, threatening to pull an unlucky ghoul within her grips. Thorn Whip Attack: 16 Damage: 2

If no surprise attack, we can just make that her first attack.
