You begin your several days travel circumventing the temple and making your way southward. The grey rocky mountainside turns to brown shrubs and eventually green fields. Light rains make it colder at night than you wanted but it’s not unbearable. Walking down the pathways Drax is finding it more and more difficult to hide his hand.
(Drax needs to roll a sleight if Hand vs everyone’s passive perception. Most literal roll for sleight of Hand ever)

One afternoon you see a large barren dead tree off to the side about 150 yards off the road. It stands alone in the grass fields. A landmark probably.
OOC drax would keep using disguise self almost constantly to bide his hand so that it basically never drops unless he is sleeping, would I still need to roll that?
Aether you don’t see any graveyards as it’s unlikely to find one out in the middle of nowhere, they are usually connected to a town or at least a historic battlefield. None of you recall any in general history for this area. Walking up to the tree, there is a faint glow of enchantment energy at the base of the tree in a hole under the roots. Very small blip. There is another energy color of evocation magic in front of it.
Drax - The hat allows you to cast the spell at will, still having to use somatic and Verbal components every hour. If it was innate you wouldn’t have to, just may look suspicious casting spells for no reason.
Matteo, Petmorn, and Risha all notice at least one point in the day that Drax has been muttering some sort of incantations. There doesn’t seem to be any effect that you can see. Certainly isn’t causing harm to any of you.
Matteo - your divine sense doesn’t return with any lingering prescribed of anything else. It does look as you are the only one out here. Looking into the tree trunk you see a medium sized bag tucked into small hole. A flat rock sitting on the ground before it. (The evocation glow is coming from the rock, enchantment glow from the bag - For Aether)
As Aether touches the stone first, a fiery explosion erupts as he has triggered the trap that must’ve been etched in it somewhere. Dex save 13: 20 he takes 22 fire damage and is thrown 10 feet back, on a success it’s half damage and not forced back.
Clearing out the smoke grime the blast he sees the pouch sitting there unharmed. Opening it there are 50 platinum pieces and a ring. It looks to be a ring of protection, along in the bag is a note it just reads “This is payment enough, leave my family alone”
He takes the sack and rejoins the others. “Someone has left a small fortune under the tree with a trap to guard it. The trap got me but I still got the fortune. We can discuss how to best put it to use for our task.”
(OOC Who has the lowest AC? And HP as well I suppose. My AC is 13 and my HP 38.)
Matteo casts Cure Wounds on Aether: 9 HP. A fine fortune indeed. I've no use for the ring, when others need it more. Perhaps you should keep it for now.
And he resumes the march towards the nearest city.
You take the rest of your travel coming up on the small town of Mintar. Several small wooden buildings clumped around. A town of probably 20-30 abodes. Several smaller shacks stand next to the houses with smoke rising from the top. A half orc is outside and tanning some leather stretched out in a rack. He has t noticed you yet. There seem to be a few people around but not nearly as many you’d think. You’d assume the others are still out fishing for the day.
You stand a couple hundred feet away, what would you like to do?
Drax would subtly cover his nose at the mention of a fishing town, trying not to inhale the smell of peasents. "I suppose these folks might be able to offer us food and tools we might need for our journey.. perhaps maybe even a guide of sorts could be hired here..." Drax would grumble.
The Orc stops his work and stands tall. Brownish red mutton chops stand out against the pale green skin. “Can’t say any big ships pass by here, just a fishing village that feeds Ankhapur, boats go there daily after they get their catch of the day. You might be able to convince a boat to take you.... might have to convince two of them for the lot of you, only spend one night on the road by foot.”
“Y’all might by able to find some charcoal, but you got to do it the old fashioned way and collect yourself. You’d have better luck in either Ankhapur or Calimport for supplies like that. Where most people do their shopping in this area.” He stars as he scratches his stomach.

Risha nods. "Works for me. Think I've been in that area, but I don't have any useful contacts there, unfortunately."

Aether
At the beginning of the journey Aether asks the group to keep a look out for any cemeteries, even older ones. He of course looks for them as well.
Perception (looking for graves) : 10
Upon seeing the tree Aether goes to inspect it. Ritually casting Detect Magic before approaching.
OOC drax would keep using disguise self almost constantly to bide his hand so that it basically never drops unless he is sleeping, would I still need to roll that?

Matteo would follow Aether over to nearby the dead tree. Have a particular interest in dead trees?
Curious about his new companion and his interests, he uses his Divine Sense ability to see whether anything 'interesting' lies nearby.
Got ya! Drax slight of hand! 12

Aether
Aether retrieves the items and looks them over trying to understand their function.

”A fine payment indeed.“
He takes the sack and rejoins the others. “Someone has left a small fortune under the tree with a trap to guard it. The trap got me but I still got the fortune. We can discuss how to best put it to use for our task.”

Matteo looks around. This is a fishing town. Whose dumb idea was it to come here?
He looks to the half-orc, Hey friend, there any ships pass by here? Big ones, not little fishing boats. We're looking for passage south.
Drax would subtly cover his nose at the mention of a fishing town, trying not to inhale the smell of peasents. "I suppose these folks might be able to offer us food and tools we might need for our journey.. perhaps maybe even a guide of sorts could be hired here..." Drax would grumble.
Aether
Aether is going to try remaining in his current look to see how things go. And will look around for a store as they move through the town.

"And might there be a store where I could purchase some incense, herbs, and charcoal?"
