 Thanks for Jezzika’s advance warning, Huey easily hopped into battle with the groundopuss. Then hair on his back (copious as it is) stands on end as he rages, rushing in to attack the beast with his axe:

Step Step Thud shouts “Dinnertime!” before charging the octopus.

Duke enters into maximum efficiency mode and gets ready to take out the trash.

Gwen init: 13

Gwen yips and fires her crossbow without much confidence.

Ash, seeing the rocktopuss, let's out a nervous chuckle. "The hell is that? Oh... We're attacking it. Okay..."

Ok. For those that don't know, here's how combat works.

I handle combat in blocks. What the **** does that mean, Crispy? Easy. Everyone who rolled higher in initiative than a monster next down on the list can act in any order they choose. So, if we look at the order of combat above, here's the first block:

As combat progresses, I highlight who's turn it is to go, and that block can act in any order they see fit. DO NOT ACT IF IT IS NOT YOUR BLOCK. That confuses me and i'm easily confused because i'm old and tired. Those that roll nat20 in initiative ALWAYS go first, and those that roll nat1s ALWAYS go last. So with that being said, here's what happens:

Step Step Thud leaps through the air, bringing his club and his knee into the octopus.

Amara sends a blast of her own, this one radiant golden energy, at the rocktopus.

His senses acting before his mind registered the enemy, Ree'lyn wills his arcane powers to manifest as a shimmering purple and green energy swirls around his arm shooting as a crackling energy bolt towards the target.

Eldritch Blast 7 for 2 force damage.

And with that, the rocktopus died. Properly prepared, it would provide food for days. Jezzika made a sharp whistle and pointed to the ground next to her, and Huey lumbered back to her side. "Phineas." Jezzika said, "How do you fare? You took a hard blow."

That's what happens when i'm too busy checking our back looking for our captors.

She pat her teddy bear and continued to make sure Phineas was alright.

"Evening" is soon approaching and camp will have to be set up, ending DAY ONE.

Amara moves over to Phineas. "Need some healing?" she offers.

Unless he objects, she places a hand over his wound, which glows with faint golden light before sealing up (Healing Light)

Enkindle hardly gets [Tooltip Not Found] in hand by the time fight concludes. Snuffing it with a click of her tongue, she starts for Phineas, sees him being tended to after some fashion, and stops part way to focus back on watching the group's back. No point in crowding the injured gnome anymore than he had been. Only when none can or would mend his wounds would she throwing a healing word[5] his way before their night concludes... in primordial.

Which could've been a curse or sassy comment as far as most can tell without watching the wounds sear close. When it came to camping, after seeing stool do his spore spreading one too many times back in the cell, she made a point of being well away from 'it' until a safe spot could be burned afterwards for bedding down. Even without mentioning or being asked to, she stays up for 1st Watch, listening and looking out for any more signs of strangeness.

"Declaration: This unit does not require sleep. It merely needs to enter into an inert state for six hours, but during this period, this unit will retain its capacity for visual and auditory perception. It can keep watch over the camp."
