"Good point Navi," Ulrich says, "I have no desire to fight that large lizard anytime soon, let's go back and warn the city. Maybe on our next outing we can go in a different direction. As this direction seems to get a LOT more dangerous the farther out we go."
"Not a bad idea to go the oposit direction next haul." Navi would nod to Ulrich, ""aight. Off we go now. We need teh be extra alert fer this walk back. Who knows where them native folk scattered."
While the critters are busy eating and the other claimants dead or fled, it seems a careful assumption that little else would be in the area and so you are able to move much more quickly out of the area and back down the away.
Around noon you reach the intersection of the statues. Again, the area is unnaturally quiet, but nothing disturbs you as you pass through the area.
As you continue your eastward journey, you begin to look for signs of where your path should leave the road and with Navi's navigation and a little luck you find the place.
Will you take the path or continue eastward on the road?
"Well I am good to go either direction but the silence of the road is unsettling and I have no desire to see another of those large snakes. It might be wiser to take the path as it gives us more cover to hide from those larger lizards back there."
"I feel as though we need to discover the lore of this place in order to give a detailed enough report to the citizens and townsfolk. The path may be a step towards gaining more knowledge." Georges said with a nod.
Once on the side path, which it becoming well worn with your boots, you make your way back to the road outside of town, the quiet ruined tower. It is late afternoon when you reach the walls of the once abandoned city. There is no sign of the guards which have guarded the gates previously as you enter.
Finding your way up into the building where the guards usually stay, you find two young men sleeping on their post, bottles of foul smelling, spilled liquor besides them. They are still breathing, in fact snoring.
You are two far from the inhabited areas to hear anything.
Ulrich just shakes his head and then kicks one of the guards feet to maybe wake him. "Worthless lot, do they have any idea of wa is going on. I can not wait to Talk to that worthless idiot Vizzni and let him know his guards are pointless if any of these creatures w have discovered attack the town. Shall we go find Altair and the lot and let relate our new findings to them."
Unable to wake the insensible guards, you go in search of Vizzini. As you reach the center of town, you find a carnival like atmosphere. The entire population seems to be inebriated, if not downright drunk. People are playing (or perhaps killing) various musical instruments, and the laughter and singing has an almost hysterical air.
You notice the ships which brought you are gone, but another small ship, more of a pleasure yacht is docked.
Vizzini's door is locked and pounding on it only gets you the terse reply, "Go away, you hooligans! Leave me be!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Corum starts taking out his thieve's tools while approaching the door. HEY Vizzini! Unless you have the door barricaded I don't think you are keeping us out. We have dire news to share with you. We didn't race back to an UNguardedsettlement for nothing. Open up yourself or give me a chance to pick a lock.
Persuasion 14
((My bad added more dialogue and it moved the dice roll))
Vizzini, recognizing the voice, opens the door and ushers everyone in, then quickly locks the door.
"They've all gone crazy! Its been like this since this since yesterday, not long after the Governor returned. Its even affected poor Altaira, and she's never had a drop of liquor in her life!"
The alcohol has everyone acting like this and the governor brought it you said? That's really unfortunate because we aren't the only one on this island and we have seen a creature that could seriously but this colony at risk. What do you mean when you say they went crazy?
Navi was psyching herself up to kick the door down if Corum’s tools didn’t cut it and Vizinni didn’t answer. Unfortunately he answered. So she followed everyone in without much excitement.
“Like just unusually strong liquor? Or someone spiked the punch bowl at the dance party liquor?”

"Or magic." Georges responded, folding his arms and leaning on the wall. "With all of the things we've seen these past few days, I wouldn't consider it too far-fetched. Especially with," He cringed and shuddered at the sound of an out of tune viola being played, "your saying Altaria's been affected as well." He tried to look back on his previous teachings and see if there was such a spell that existed.
History? Insight? I don't know the category, but: 7
Ulrich ponders a moment, "Where is Altaria now and where is this governor? Something has obviously happened and we need to get to the root of the problem soon. I have a bad feeling about this."
"I can't say as there is a connection with the Governor, he certainly didn't start handing out drink. That would cut into the profits of this place if everyone spends their day carousing. Altaria is upstairs in her room, I barricaded her there for her own good. The Governor has a suite of apartments at the far end of the waterfront, away from everyone. It's a place to start looking. You won't be able to miss the man. A short, stout, bald and short sighted man with a white goatee. "
Georges, you don't recall anything specific.
