After seeing both attempts to strike the gnoll have failed, Saerirra will rush the gnoll and drive her shoulder into its chest to knock it down the stairs.
(Guessing athletics roll: 13)
If she succeeds, without looking behind her at the group, she will say, "Stay behind me. If they come running up here I can hit them all. It won't kill them, but it's all I have for harming multiple opponents at the same time. And they will be in a line which helps me. But I can only do this once, much like my charm attempt."
If she fails to knock the gnoll away, she will just look up at it with worry and say, "Oh no!" and quickly run back to where she was across the room.
(If the gnoll gets an attack of opportunity for running away, i'll take it, but i'm hoping the surprise round will negate that.)
When Saerrira gets her death wish and finally brings upon us all the gnolls - can Laievis use already rolled Initiative, or should I roll again?
(No death wish. Clearly regardless what I did, the enemies deeper inside will know something is wrong. They all heard Uther sneeze, and likely heard the failed attempts at taking the gnoll down. Maybe Uther's failed strike clanged against the stone wall? Could have happened. Whatever the case, the enemy would know we were here. Saerirra had to act quickly, and falling down some stairs will definitely hurt it.)
OOC: So far it was one lone patrolling gnoll who happened to be too close and heard Uthar over loud chanting that is still continues. Well, it's a mute point anyway now. We are about to get attacked by unknown number of unknown enemies. At least we will find dwarves.

(There was likely no way of getting around the enemies inside anyway. ANd thanks to Saerirra, there's two less to deal with. Not to metagame, but as we're only lvl 3, i can't imagine the DM would throw too much at us this early, so the number of gnolls left can't be too large. I would guess about the same amount as the hyenas we faced before. But we'll know either way soon enough.)
Peshley watches the others attack the gnoll, trying to take it by surprise and failing. This is not the best of starts. She quickly gestures sending off a fire bolt.
As the Gnoll epically deflects Uther, Laeivis, Cade and Peshley's ambush with his shield (OOC Sorry, II really am...Gnolls actually carry shields...) Saerrira tackles him "football/rugby style", and pushes him down the stairs. He falls 20 feet down, bouncing against the sharp and hard stone stairs, and takes 8 bludgeonning damage!
He gets back up, slowly, obviously groggy from the fall. However, he dropped his shield and spear....
That was the surprise round. Everyone gets to do their Round 1 turn now. All the characters have rolled higher than the Gnoll, so have at it lol

"Woah," mutters Peshley as Saerrira tackles the gnoll down the stairs, both at how well it had evade the initial attacks and also at the complete surprise of Saerrira in the thick of the battle. "Look Out!!" Peshley fires another Fire Bolt at the gnoll.

Cursing as he misses his swing in slow motion. Uther then looks at Saerrira with big hearts forming over his eyes as she shoulder bashes the Gnoll. As the clang of the Gnolls drop snaps him back to the present. He runs down the steps hooking his axe to his back and pulling out his his shortsword and scimitar. He jumps from the middle of the steps both blades in hand and descend upon the fallen Gnoll.

Cade - Putting away his sling and pulling out his dagger Cade will follow Uther down the stairs and will Jump onto the Gnoll after seeing Uthers attack and will bring down the dagger into the Gnoll.
