As the Darkness engulfs them, Zyman flicks a piece of fleece into the air, and whispers over the top of it. Out of the darkness, a choir of wailing voices is audible, as Zyman's Minor illusion takes hold.
Wis Save DC 15 to see through the illusion.
OOC: The idea is to disorient the assassin, hoping my party members would know that Zyman is behind the deathly choir.

Roscoe...
(Removed due to not being able to see. Sorry!)
growls as he sees the assassin making his attack. Rage pouring over the halfling's face. He draws his axes and charges the assailant trying to block it from getting back to the window if possible. Spectral warriors form around Roscoe as his rage boils.
He recklessly swings his Battleaxe of the Chicken twice at the assassin hoping to end the threat before it can attack again.
Attack 1: 24 Damage: 6
Attack 2: 23 Damage: 7
If either of the attacks hit, the target will have disadvantage on any attack roll against Roscoe. If it hits a creature besides Roscoe, the creature has resistance to damage dealt by the attack.
(If Zyman's Hold Person works, the attacks above will auto crit if they hit)
Roscoe attempts to peer into the darkness but sees little other than the absence of light. He growls in frustration and charges in toward where the Jarl had been hoping he can at least attempt to escort them out of the magical darkness.
(Let me know what to roll or if Roscoe would even be able to find him lol)
Rosri will freeze up at the sudden darkness and scary sound. Memories of the resent Mind flayers mental attack puts him in a petrified state. He drops the crossbow, gets down on his knees and cover his ears and shuts his eyes in terror.
As the dark chants rise from the darkness, Roscoe runs in the Jarl's general direction and attempts to tackle him. He May roll an Athletics check with disadvantage DC15 to do so.
Rushing through the darkness toward where he last saw the Jarl, Roscoe grabs ahold of the first person he feels and continues charging through until he's able to see again.

Engulfed in unaccustomed darkness, unable to see with his usual darkvision, Edeleth blinks in confusion as chaos (and a chorus of eerie voices)swirls around him.
Gathering his thoughts, he transforms into a Constrictor snake. ( HP 18) A combination of scent, vibrations and heat allows him to make sense of the total blackness. He moves through the darkness to find the assassin.
(Can't attack this round since Wild Shape takes an action, but Edeleth positions himself next to the assassin in case of the chance of an opportunity attack, should the assassin make a move to go after the Jarl or escape.)

Shouting out to the others to get down, Zyman unleashes two streaks of eldritch energy just above where he heard Roscoe's scream, hoping to catch the assassin with one or both of them.
I'm assuming two rolls with disadvantage, given the darkness and relying on hearing alone: first beam 10 for 12 Force damage; second beam 10 for 7 Force damage
OOC: Unholy shit! Did not expect disadvantaged rolls to hit so well and do so much damage!!

Since Roscoe is already on the ground with the Jarl, and Edeleth is a snake, the two Eldritch blasts hit the Assassin in the chest! The Darkness itself seems to take life and wraps itself around Zyman, giving him an Aura of living whispering Shadows, as the masked Man loses control of his spell, and staggers back from the impact. "Constrictor-Edeleth" gets an attack of opportunity on him, as he moves past its zone of Threat
As the darkness starts to coalesce around Ozymandias he says, in a hollow voice: "Foolish, to meddle in things you don't understand! Your darkness is artificial, a mere parlour trick… My life has seen more darkness than you could ever create. "

Anyone paying attention to Rosri can hear him trembling and whisper preyers to Olidimara, the goddess of thieves and Elona, the goddess of crops.
The adrenaline chock of seeing the murdered guild master, the Dragonborn, Illithid and rushing over to save the Jarl is starting to wear off and the terror is really staring to set in now. He is just a big mess of trembling fear right now.

Roscoe can feel the pain of the attack tearing at his back. Being a halfling had it's perks as he could feel the poison eating away at his skin but not nearly as bad as it would have been for the Jarl. He looks at the Jarl to make sure he's okay before jumping to his feet. He draws his battleaxes and snarls with an unbridled rage. He charges at the threat, swiping his Battleaxe of the Chicken recklessly at the foe.
Attack: 14 Damage: 11
Attack 2: 15 Damage: 6
Mechanics:
Stand (half movement:17), move to Jarl (if in range: 17"), Bonus Action: rage, reckless attack x2.
If Roscoe hits, proc Ancestral Protectors. Enemy has disadvantage on any attack not on Roscoe. If they attack someone else, the target gets resistance to the attack. Enemies have advantage on attacks against Roscoe. Roscoe has resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, slashing damage
As the Masked Man staggers back, Edeleth tries to grab him, but unsuccessfuly.
With the Darkness receded, Roscoe now sees his foe, and swings at him twice. The first attack chops off the Assassin's arm, and the second swing sends him crashing through the window!
As he falls unconscious down the Tower, a portal materializes in mid-air, and swallows him. The Masked Man disappears through it in a puff of red flames....
OOC: Damn', you guys just OWNED this dude! Nice...He's gonna need a few upgrades for next time, hehe...
Everyone slowly regains their senses: Roscoe breaths deeply, snapping out of his frenzied berserker rage. Zyman snaps out of "Dark Phoenix Mode", and the Dark whispers are replaced with distant sounds of merrymaking, bells and caroling throughout the City. Rosri opens his eyes, and sees everyone safe and sound. Roscoe is bleeding a little bit, but seems unphased. Zathka the Fey is actually standing over Rosri, and extends his hand towards him, helping him up. He looks down with compassion, as if he had been there himself..."It's gonna be alright, friend. There is darkness in all of us, and sometimes it just...takes over. You and your friends just saved the Jarl, and possibly the City...I owe you, big time." With a shaky hand, he pulls out a small flask from his shirt and takes a swig, then hands it to Rosri...
"Here brother, in our line of work, this comes in very handy..."
The warm liquid acts as a "Remove fear" effect.
The Fey smiles..."Listen... this City is still very much alive..."
As the Jarl scrambles back up, immediately helped by a plethora of guards and servants, he shoves them all away. "Enough! I'm obviously fine, no thanks to you overpaid bunch!" He turns to the Party, and gives everyone the most genuine of Dwarvish handshake-hugs.
"I now see the errors of my Ways...I've been a pompous fool to ignore the Evil brewing within my own lands. My own City. My own People. "At once, My Lord!"
The guards salute, and run off.
"As for the Knights of the Hanging Chicken, they have more than proven themselves to me and my Clan. They shall be invited to dine in my Halls this Winter Celebration, as Guests of Honor!"
Roscoe stows away his weapons seeing that the threat is gone. He looks to the disembodied arm and moves to pick it up hoping to find some sort of clue as to who the assassin may have been. "He's left this behind,"Roscoe says waving it to the others.
Roscoe seems to cheer up more than normal at the proposition of a feast. "We's would be quite honored to eats yous food. We's just happy to have been here to save yous. We's are sure the repayment will be suitable to ours performance though afraid he's seemed to get away for now."
Roscoe didn't know how to feel about bringing more people into this war but he was certain the army would appreciate the support. He then looks to the window that the assassin escaped through. "Yous are going to want to repair that. Yous don't want them coming back through it."
As the Darkness engulfs them, Zyman flicks a piece of fleece into the air, and whispers over the top of it. Out of the darkness, a choir of wailing voices is audible, as Zyman's Minor illusion takes hold.

Athletics w/dis: 20 . If that fails, I'll use inspiration to reroll: 12 t
Rushing through the darkness toward where he last saw the Jarl, Roscoe grabs ahold of the first person he feels and continues charging through until he's able to see again.
No need to use inspiration. Roscoe blindly tackles the Jarl in the middle of the darkness, shoving him to the ground!
As that happens, the Assassin strikes, aiming for the Jarl, but his attack will go to Roscoe, since he is protecting him.
The Assassin rolls a 19 on his attack, dealing 10 piercing damage, and 25 poison damage (Con save DC for half damage) if it hits...
The Jarl screams "Guaaaaaards!!"
Both guards run it, stumbling around in the darkness. "What the...My Lord, we cannot see anything!"
