Kate says, "Plague Doctors are unrivaled when it comes to curing diseases but their cures and treatment is known to be some of the most painful things in existence. That's why many people prefer Clerics even though Clerics can't cure diseases as well as the doctors can."

I though clerics could heal anything, but that they were rare so we needed other means make cures since we cant always have a cleric around. 

"It's the opposite here. Clerics can heal any injury, bring people back to life and remove curses. But they struggle heavily against diseases. Some of these diseases are so nasty, they prevent resurrection. That's why we have Plague Doctors. Plus it's always nice to have a wide variety of potions available."

Wow, you're so smart.

Kate doesn't know why Ingrid called her smart. What she said was basically common knowledge. Not knowing how to respond, she opts to ignore the comment.

Ingrid trys to keep a conversation going Your skin is so pretty. Its very rare to have that shade of skin tone in Edo.

Kate scoffs "Pretty? Yeah right! have seen my arm? It's scarred to hell and back."

True, but anyone who would focus on a few fading scars and not on the beauty of the rest of you is surely missing out. And probably not worth your time. Ill bet anything Tomoe-sama said something similar to you already.  

"Wait... how did you guess? Does Edo have an obsession with battle scarred women?"

Yes and no. Edo has a warrior culture so if someone doesn't have any battle scars, then tend to be looked down on a little socially.  Except scars on your back. Back scars show you to be a coward that runs from battle. So we appreciate scaring. I'm sure a you would be very desirable as a wife in Edo. Though i dont suppose you could handle to politics of being such a strong woman in Edo culture. Its complicated and Tomoe-sama couldn't stand it either. 

"Hey, I'm the party barbarian. You point me at thing; I destroy thing. If your big sister couldn't wrap her head around the politics I doubt I have any chance of that. Though I have back scars too, less, but I have those too. Being ambushed from behind and running to fight another day are both things every mercenary gets used to."

I'd love to see all your scars sometime...if you don't mind too much. 

"Er... maybe some other time kid. With how many close calls we've been having lately, you'll get your own scars too."
(Actually she'd probably just die)

Ingrid tries to hide a pout at being called a kid. Ill be 17 in a week. I'm not a kid anymore. 

(I will do everything in my power to prevent that. Paladins can get really hard to kill.)

Kate smiles and says, "Sorry to have to break this to you but here, you stay a kid until your 18th birthday. You still have an year to wait before being an adult."

Well that seems unfair, she has stopped hiding her pouting face I have done lots of adult things. I have fought with you all several times, I traveled across the countries with Tomoe-sama to be here. I've had wine. I've even had sex with boys too. I'm experience enough to be an adult. 

Kate does a double take on the last one and you can almost here a record scratching sound. "Wait what? You had a boyfriend?"

Ingrid puffs out her chest and proudly says. We started dating shortly before I turned 16. We dated for almost a year before I found out he only liked me because I was exotic to him. I caught him bragging to his friends about it. I had another boyfriend before that but it didnt work out. He was too rigid. He was cute though. 

"Really now? How did you meet them?"

The first one was the son of a high merchant.We had similar social standings.  He had aspirations of of becoming a military leader to elevate his family higher into nobility. The second boy was the 5th son of a noble house. He treated me like a princess, but it was all to try to gain personal notoriety for himself. It was fun while it lasted. No regrets.  What about you?...if you want to talk about it i mean. You don't have too.
