Tomoe leans into the man a little and squints. You would not be trying to take advantage of a poor defenseless foreign girl would you?

Tomoe hopes Lucia will add some pressure too.

The tiefling gives up and says, "Fine fine. I lied. The item IS a Weatherband Circlet. I wasn't lying about that. I also didn't lie about it being not too rare either. But the item you have is not just any random Weatherband Circlet. It is the Night Mother's Weatherband Circlet. That doesn't make it any different than a normal one function wise but I was hoping I'd be able to sell it to the Shade Striders or some collector for a pretty penny."

Tomoe whispers to Lucia who are the shade striders?

Lucia explains, "The Shade Striders, also known as the Shadow Striders, are said to be a secret organization of unknown affiliation. We aren't even sure if they actually exist or if they're just a fairy tale to scare people or give hope to them. They're... kind of hard to explain. For people who do believe them, they are either criminals or they are heroes. Really it depends on who you ask. Generally, the downtrodden, slaves, even some paladins who are unaffiliated with Churches see them as heroes, helping those who have nowhere else to turn to. The nobility, the high priests, most of the Guards though, they think they are a dangerous group of anarchists who steal, murder and get in the way of justice. They were founded by the Abyss Queen, who is also called the Night Mother. Again, depends on if you like her legend or not. I personally don't believe they exist though. Probably some folk tale. "

Tomoe takes all this in and turns to the tiefling. So, she smirks How much is this trinket you want to take to the shade strikers worth to you. You gave me the base price, but whats it worth...to you?

The tiefling leans back in his chair and says, "Well ideally, I'd be able to sell it to the Shade Striders but hey, I'm not even sure if they exist or not. I'd probably just sell it to a collector then. Tell you what. I'll give you half as much as I'm expecting to sell it for to a collector: 2,500 GP. Shade Striders would probably pay much more than that given that it is an artifact of their precious Night Mother but I'm not willing to pay you more than 2,500 GP for it since I have no clue if they even exist or not."

Tomoe glances at Lucia and, assuming she approves, Tomoe accepts the offer. That sounds like a much better deal. Thank you for your time.

Lucia is unsure if this is a good deal or not. 2,500 GP is worth more than a new Circlet but again, she wonders if it's worth selling a one-of-a-kind item for that kind of money. She won't stop Tomoe from accepting the deal though.

Tomoe goes through with the deal. 

The man pays Tomoe 2,500 GP and takes the Circlet. The two exit the man's office.

Lucia asks, "So Chief, do we still need to go back into the second ruins or do we now have enough gold to hire a body guard and Kitty-Kat?"

We are still a bit short of what we need. We could find a local job instead of making the trip out there.

Lucia says, "That can work. Maybe we can ask Kate tomorrow on how we can make up the remaining cash. How much are we short on again?"

Considering extra expenses, we need another thousand or two at a minimum to be safe.

Lucia says, "Yeah going so far for a thousand of two feels bad. Maybe we should have held on to the circlet and tried to find a collector ourselves. Would have taken a while but hey, beats getting beaten up for gold."

Maybe so. But I don't know any collectors. And after we convinced him I think we got a good enough deal. For now we restock, have our party night with Kate and then go get beat up for money.

Lucia chuckles, "It sounds like we enjoy getting beat up if you say it like that."

Rolling 1d4 to see how long Kate would have slept for: 4 hours. Yeah 4 hours + 8 Hours of normal Long Rest sleep... Kate's not going to wake up tonight.

Kate is still asleep though the rhythmic movement of her chest going up and down makes it clear she isn't dead at least. Lucia stretches and pecks Tomoe on the cheek. "I enjoyed our short trip around the town. I'm exhausted. Let's get to bed."

Early next morning Kate finally wakes up and rubs her temple. She groans out, "Where..." Once she gets her bearings, she punches the side of the bed in frustration and causes a part of the wood to break. Sometimes the power in her metal arm still catches her by surprise. "Damnit! I couldn't even get one hit on the guy."

Tomoe is woken up by a loud banging noise. Ah, Kate must be awake. Tomoe gets out of bed and goes to see her friend. 

Good morning Kate, how are you feeling?

Kate says, "Not... Great. Here I was thinking I was hot shit getting to slay that Deep Demon but then I lost to a random guy from who knows where. Couldn't even land a hit on him."

Do not take it to hard. You still killed a deep demon. Few can say that. You have grown stronger and you keep growing. Next time you meet him I am sure you will show him what you can really do.

Come on, we have dress shopping to do. Lucia and I will make sure you have fun tonight and forget all about some crazy guy who shoots his punches.

Tomoe returns to her bed to wake up Lucia. 

Lucia seems a bit grumpy to waking up, but seeing Tomoe instantly puts a smile on her face.

Breakfast goes as usual though Kate is a lot more quiet. She seems a bit nervous about dress shopping. She's not sure if showing more of her body would be attractive, given that she has some self-image issues. Still the way Kate is being shy about it is almost cute. Especially when one takes into account how intimidating Kate usually is.

Kate keeps the more reserved and shy attitude all the way to the shops. Though the cloth selection of individual shops are not that great, given the sheer amount of different shops in the Diurnal district, there is something for everyone here. There are short skirts and long skirts, outfits suitable for nuns and outfits that are as revealing as swimsuits. There's croptops and turtle necks. There are outfits for dancers and business women. They come in a wide variety of colors too. Some jewelry is also sold in separate shops for cheap. Might be useful if Tomoe wants to give Kate some. Currently Kate just wears two very small fake-silver earrings as far as jewelry goes.
