(Everything is good. Some water in the basement but no real damage to anything.)
You each take part in the party in your own way, idly sitting by or fully engrossing yourself in the celebration. An hour or so passes while you dance, eat and converse with one another and the sun slowly disappears behind the jungle hills. The celebration still rolling along at full force when Arion and the council congregate off to the side. You hear a thump- tha- thump- tha- thump from leather drums and the noise of the party seems to fade. people still chat quietly amongst one another as Arion and the council walk in towards the large bonfire and bow. The noise dies down to near silence as Arion speaks. "People of Kainui. We rejoice at the return of Tahvo and thank our gracious guests for bringing him back safely to us." A small cheer bursts from the crowd then dies down quickly. Arion continues, "These warriors have come with a message and a proposal from Dom-gar which we have accepted. They were able to defeat the Lingering Shadow in Dom-Sorn. They were successful in killing many yuan-ti at the temple to the south. They have proven themselves worthy allies and ask that we join them in the fight against the yuan-ti. We must never let our mothers, our fathers or our children be taken by their slavers and scouts! We accept their call and we will join this fight to purge the evil from our lands! Let us celebrate this victory and prepare for the next!" she says, her voice increasing in volume and emotion with each word as she points to your group. The crowd erupts into a cheer and chant. The few soldiers standing among the group stomp their spears into the ground. Those sitting stand and chant while others dance and the celebration continues.
Elia sits and watches off to the side thinking of the other group and how they are fairing. A look of mixed concern and happiness on her face as she takes a bite of some fish and smiles at the children playing. A small girl approaches her and offers her a piece of bread she nods accepting it gratefully and hold up her empty hand towards the child. From her open palm a small purple flower quickly grows and blooms. She hands it over to the girl who excitedly grasps it and rushes off to tell her friends. Elia is soon swarmed by children, each holding pieces of bread, fish and fruit, as they wait for their own flower. She laughs and happily obliges them giving each a beautiful flower. The swarm gone, Elia looks over to the group and joins you saying, "I'm going to bed down for the night. I'll see you all in the morning." and she pats Erro on the shoulder casting another Cure Wounds on him before heading to the pseudo visitor center.
Darion- you watch the interactions between the people and it seems odd to you. Not because of anything nefarious but because of the communal nature of it. There doesn't appear to be any tangle difference in the way people converse or interact with one another. Even the council elders interact as though they were the lowest rank individuals. In the city there was a clear system of ranking and superiority. Here it seems, everyone is equal, with exception to the children, who are allowed to do as they please within reason. You see a couple occasions where an adult has to reign in a group of children getting too rambunctious near the fire or stopping a youngster from snacking on a large fish.
Rawk- You are lost in the sea of people just enjoying your time.
Uncharacteristically, Erro does not stay up late drinking and indulging himself in the fineries of the new locale. His near-death experience was catching up with him now that he had the chance to truly rest. He attends the gathering and cheers when the leaders say that they will join the fight.
While awake, he does hang out with Darion, vainly trying to teach him how to quietly yell. “No, no, not like that!” He asks many questions about magic, potentially accepting some tall tales as truth.
Erro turns in the earliest, enjoying the rare tender touch of a gentle spirit in an otherwise harsh land as Elia mends his wounds further.
As the evening wears on, Darion finds himself loosening his guard a little, he is surprised and a little unsettled by the openness of the people around, and their apparent egalitarianism. He is getting increasingly drunk as he attempts Erro's 'quiet shout', failing miserably to do anything other than speak in an exaggeratedly loud whisper. He is at that stage in the evening where everything seems very funny.
He will attempt to answer Erro's questions about magic, but finds it quite hard to articulate for some reason. He ends up with a rather complex analogy that possibly leaves Erro thinking that magic is like the god's way of doing knitting. Shortly after this, Darion will also decide it is time to return to bed. He does notice Elia's concerned looks, but can't really marshal his thoughts to say anything sensible or comforting. It also makes him think about his own somewhat difficult love-life, and he gets to the melancholy stage of being drunk at this point, before heading off to bed for a well deserved rest. He passes out fully dressed.
Provided a long rest is completed successfully, his portent rolls are: 15 and 17
Ellis hears Arion, smiling and thankful to have allies now who will be helping them at least. Then he also hears Elia, nodding as he continues to enjoy the party along with the others before it is time to go to sleep. He thinks of Tahvo and his parents, still wondering about his mother and the village until he is ready for night and soon falls asleep.
Rawk will stay up the latest, letting herself fully take in the celebration. Her young spirit being set free in the dancing and happiness that was so rare to her as of late due to the yuan-ti prescence. She would eventually turn in soon enough to get a full long rest but just barely. As she slept she would let out small coos.
The celebration continues into the night as each of you turn in for rest. The soft beds are a welcomed comfort compared to the damp and bumpy jungle floor. Your exhaustion from travel combined with the relative safety provided by the village allows you each to fall into a deeper slumber. The cool breeze from the lake is soothing to the jungle heat and the periodic waves lapping into the shore create a peaceful melody to sleep to once the party ends. You awake feeling well rested, especially Erro who finds his wounds are a bit more healed thanks to Elia's touch, though the bruising around the scars persists.
You gather your things and exit the structure to find Tahvo and his parents waiting outside. Off to the east you see the smoldering remains of the bonfire, now used to cook breakfast for a small group. Tahvo runs up to Darion and Ellis and hugs them both before giving Rawk, Erro and Elia a hug as well. "Thank you." he says with childlike excitement and runs off to play with some of his friends who stand near the fire. Both parents approach smiling and say, "We requested to be the ones to give you this." They hold out two small glass flasks with a redish liquid in them. "These blessed potions will help heal you if you drink them while injured."
Darion would get up looking pale and slightly sickly. He finds the nearest spring and takes some deep gulps of water, and only then realises he looks quite dishevelled and does his prestidigitation cleaning ritual.
He staggers over to the rest of the party, and comments there might be some magical effect going on as the sun seems much brighter this morning.
When Tahvo runs over, he gives him an affectionate hug, and nods along to the parents muttering a thank you to them.
As they walk away he mutters to the others "Lovely people, but why do they have to shout everything?".
He would find a tree to slump next to, and await to be summoned for the next stage of the journey.
Erro would rise early, having went down early. He spends the early morning looking out over the lake and smoking his pipe. He was encouraged, things seemed to be going well so far. How nice it was to see that boy reunited with his family. If anything else, that was worth all the risk so far.
After initially taking great consideration of Darion’s suggestion that the sun seemed brighter, and straining his eyes staring at the sun to see if it was really so, Erro realizes Darion’s hungover state. The rest of the morning while conversing with Darion, Erro quietly yells everything he says to Darion, to toy with him.
Darion would groan a little at each of Erro's quiet shouts, wincing every so often. Robyn sits on his shoulders and, realising what's going on, glares at Erro.
Ellis sees Tahvo, feeling the hug as he hugged him back too. He smiles, hearing Tahvo thank them before running off to be with his friends. He hoped that Tahvo would be happy and live a good normal life now. He smiled and nodded as Tahvo's parents gave them the potions. "Thank you very much." Ellis says back, smiling as he took one of the potions and let someone else take the other. But then he had heard Darion talk of shouting and the sun being brighter, feeling terrible and being softer while speaking, trying to help him feel better.
The first minutes of the morning passes with some of you reconciling your choices from the night before while others simply prepare to depart. Arion comes to find you flanked by a young dark skinned elf with an offer. Arion bows and says, "Your journey over land ahead is long and dangerous. There is another route across the lake that could shorten the time but it too has many dangers. This large lake hides equally large creatures that lurk the depths and any change in the weather could leave you stranded in the waters. As a proof of our alliance with Dom-gar against the yuan-ti, Kellar has agreed to guide you across the waters in one of our catamarans if you choose to travel over the lake. The choice of travel is yours."
(if you travel by land it will take 4-7 days depending on your rolls, If you travel by canoe it will only take 3+ days depending on your rolls. This offer is due in large part to Ellis' amazing persuasion roll.)
Rawk would awaken feeling in high spirits from the celebration and exit cheerfully to see Tahvo's family. She'd nuzzle into Tahvo back during their hug and run grab some water for Darion. Her father always warned her about certain beverages and told her to always drink water. "Water will keep you strong and sharp" he used to say. "Here you go Darion. This will help." she says in little chirps.
She'd listen closely to Arion's offer and excitedly begin bouncing at the thought of sailing on the water. She never really needed the use of a canoe before with her wings but the idea of such a thing intrigued her. Though Arion warned of large creatures she thought to herself that they couldn't be any worse than the ones on land. If it cut off time for their journey, then she was all for it. She loved being away from the village and the thrill of this adventure but she was starting to grow a bit homesick, not to mention her father was probably worried to death over her. The sooner she could return the better it was for him.
Ellis had heard Arion's offer, thinking about it. "Thank you. I think that we should go over the lake." he says back, knowing that it would be better to get back as soon as possible.
"Very well. Kellar can guide you from here. I must take my leave and begin making preparations for the village. I hope you are successful in swaying Dom-ryn to join us. Blessings and a safe journey friends." Arion says with a bow then heads off towards the center of the village. Kellar immediately jumps in saying, "Traveling the lake will require balance, stamina and a calm mind. Please come with me." he says. You follow him to what looks like a makeshift harbor with log docks that stretch out 30-40 feet into the lake. You see a number of canoes then a few larger vessels that look like two long canoes that have been connected by an 8ft by 8ft square platform. Centered near the front of the platform is a large wooden pole with a collection of fabric tied to it. "This will be our vessel. It takes some skill to guide it but I will go over some basics." he says pointing to various parts of the vessel and showing you how things work. He takes the better part of two hours having each of you attempt to board, steer and pretend to sail the vessel. "It is important that each of you know how to guide this vessel since we will be traveling day and night. In order for me to guide the vessel at night, one or all of you must take a turn guiding the vessel while I rest during the day."
