(Apologies everyone, it has been a heck of a week so far.)
Rawk, you fly off and land at the helm of the longship and offer your services. The captain of the ship agrees and you set off to work with your leather working tools in hand. You fly up to the middle of the large sail and begin to work on the long large tear that stretches nearly 6 feet. Below you and on either side you see other sailors working diligently to repair the damage lower down. You get off to a great start sewing nearly a foot of the tear back together before you run out of thread and drop your needle. The bone needle clatters to the deck and shatters to pieces. You look around and regretfully fly down to request another needle. It takes a few minutes as most are occupied with other repairs but you eventually are given a replacement as well as more thread. You return to the tear and begin where you left off. You finish another 2 foot section and start to tie the knots to hold, you pull the thread taught and the top knot loosens and you pull the thread out. Frustration builds as you watch the sailors looking up over your work. You hear murmurs and chuckles from the crowd. The sail drops down as you go to start over and you look back to the captain who motions you over. He thanks you for your assistance and requests you to return to your vessel while they finish the repairs.
You watch as Rawk flies over towards the longship in the distance. meanwhile you summon all of the damaged catamarans over for repairs. The waters are still a bit rough due to the wind from the passing storm and you struggle to maintain your balance at times. Kellar chooses to get some rest while Darion and Erro do their best to avoid head on collisions but each catamaran arrives with a bump up. Ellis and Elia shakily cross over and begin their work repairing all of the damage caused by the debris. The work is tedious and time consuming due to the rough waters. About an hour in Rawk returns and is able to aid in steadying the ship. She wears a frustrated look on her face but quickly jumps in to assist. The second hour passes a bit smoother and you successfully repair all of the catamarans. The thankful sailors give blessings and words of appreciation for your help.
The horn sounds and all of the sails drop catching the small breeze from the storm that is now far in the distance. You row for 2 hours stints taking short rests in between and over the next 5 hours you glides across the lake while the sun moves along the sky. The deep orange glow of the sky and rising moon signify the end of the day and you begin to settle in for the night your egos a bit battered from the days events. The longship each light their small pyres and light up the ever darkening sky while the fleet continues to sail towards the village of Kainui. Kellar rouses and takes the helm for the night shift and Elia grabs a quick bite to eat.
((You’re fine! It appears it has been a rough run of days on both sides of the Atlantic I’m willing to bet. I appreciate the great narration and storytelling. Impressive in a play by post!))
As you settle in for the night you feel a faint drop of rain, then another and another each spaced out by a few seconds. You look up and see the sky pot marked with small grey clouds. A steady cool breeze passes over the lake and you actually feel inclined to use a blanket for the first time. The coolness is somewhat comforting and allows you to drift to sleep much easier than you would in the regularly hot night air. The clouds pass over slowly occasionally sprinkling your bodies with light droplets while the breeze assists your course and you glide across the water.
You awake to a grey sky appearing more mike a blanket of fog high in the atmosphere. The coolness remains but the rain seems to have dissipated for now. You stretch your muscles that now are a bit sore from multiple days of strenuous use and smell the delicious scent of cooking meat. Elia, who appears to have been awake for a while has caught some fish and is frying it on a red hot pan in a now familiar method. The sizzling herbs and meat are a welcome sound and sight, not to say the dried meat and nuts aren't tasty but there's nothing like a fresh meal.
I need two sailing checks, two perception checks and a D12 roll for the day.
Ellis eats the food, very glad to have something besides dried meat and nuts. After he is done, he will do his best to keep watch and help the others when needed.
You eat a large breakfast and prepare for the day's travel knowing you have to make up time due to the previous day's storm. Kellar eats a light snack before bedding down to rest, finding it much easier to sleep with the cloud cover. The cloudy sky blocks the majority of the sunlight and casts the lake in a warm yellow glow. The sails catch the wind and you glide west towards Kainui. The first two hours pass with moderate rowing as the horn periodically sounds to begin or cease activity. Erro nimbly moves around the vessel holding its position within the fleet. Ellis, Erro and Darion, you would notice a shift in the intensity of the wind and dark clouds appearing far in the east. Another hour passes restfully as the wind steadily spurs you westward towards your destination. During that same hour you watch as the flag bearing sailors climb up and signal the fleet. As opposed to last time, you don't see an approaching catamaran to give you a translation. Ellis, looking at the other catamarans they seem to be cognizant of the signals but do not take any action. However, you do notice the longships making slight adjustments to their sails. You could safely assume the message is intended only for the longships.
Over the next 30 minutes the sky begins to darken as the storm from the east approaches. Unlike yesterday the storm appears to be following the same heading as the fleet. A light rain begins to pelt your bodies with intermittent large droplets and Kellar rouses after a heavy rain drop splashes across his face. he looks up to the sky and notices the storm. His face is emotionless but he stands to his feet and begins to pack and secure his belongings. He turn to each of you and says, "Strap down everything. Make sure the oars are secured individually and your things are lashed down tightly. Erro, drop the sail to three quarters." His words are firm and filled with caution and wisdom from many years on the water. You follow his directions and within a few minutes have every loose item stowed and secured. The rain intensifies and you see the flag bearers signaling. Quickly the other ships begin to adjust their sails to reduce drag and risk of tears from the wind that grows more violent. The fleet begisn to spread out from one another as the waves grow in size. Minutes pass and you hear a dull roar from the east, at first it sounds distant but slowly increases in volume. You turn to the east and see a thick haze lowering visibility to only a few hundred yards. The roar grows and the realization hits as you watch the wall of heavy rain rapidly advance.
A wave of wind, pressure and rain rushes over you and the roar of the waterfall of rain causes the world around you to sound as if you were underwater. Lightning arcs down from the sky to the southeast and slams into the distant shore. The thunder booms and rolls across the lake. Another flash much closer to the east accompanied by a loud CRACK then BOOOOM. The wind berates the sails pushing the vessel while the waves around you splash across the twin bows of the catamaran.
Everyone make an Athletics or Acrobatics check! I also need one person to roll a d100.
((hope you are all keeping well! I was lucky enough to get vaccinated yesterday, and if you are worried about this I want to assure you I got no worse side effects than an achy arm - no urges to worship Bill Gates! :) ))
Darion watches as the storm approaches, Robyn flutters down and lands on his shoulder, clearly scared. He comforts he distractedly as he watches the storm come in, captivated by it at first. As the waves begin to increase in size as the vertical river seems to hit them Darion hunkers down, aiming to keep himself secure on the boat. He will again reach out into the web of chance, attuned to when his luck may... not be so good. He gets a gimmer of apprehension, shifting his weight just before a particularly sudden jolt, helping him keep his balance.

Erro still has the image of the last storm plastered in his head and he quickly sets to work securing items and adjusting the sail, not stopping to gawk at the power of the storm just yet. He holds onto the lines facing down the oncoming storm.
The wind and rain batter your bodies while the waves cause the vessel to rock violently. You do your best to hang on through the first 20 minutes of the storm. You watch as lightning strikes pelt the lake and distant shore around the fleet. The waves swell and the lake becomes a churning torrent that combined with the rain coats every part of the catamaran causing the wood to become slippery. The wind propels you forward and Erro does his best to maintain course within the fleet, fighting the overpowering wind. You all grab for handholds as you manage to glide over a wave just before it crests. You look behind you and watch as one of the trailing catamarans is swallowed up in the crashing wave. The small mast snaps like a twig and you see floating debris randomly bobbing up above the surface of the water. Distracted by the wreckage, Ellis is unprepared for the descent from the wave and as the twin bow of the catamaran impacts the water at an angle it jostles your vessel. Ellis, your hands slide off of the wet wood and you are flung end over end into the water.
Ellis- Make a DC 15 Performance check to see if your cries of help are loud enough to be heard.
If successful, you all hear Ellis' cry and immediately turn to see his arms and head waving above the surface of the water about 20 feet behind the vessel.
If unsuccessful, a few seconds pass as the spray of water from the wave rushes over you. You shake your head and wipe your eyes to see that Ellis is missing. Everyone other than Ellis make a DC 14 perception check.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Come on, need at least a 5 for this!)
Ellis was stunned as he was suddenly flung off of the boat and now in the water. "Guys, help! Help!!" he cries out as loud as he can, hoping that they all hear him.
Despite the crashing waves and down pour of rain you hear Ellis' voice resound in your ears. Darion and Erro are the firs to react and look behind the vessel and see Ellis' arms waving violently above the water. Roughly 20 feet away from you his body bobs up and down fighting the waves.
What will you do to try and save him?
Detail your attempt and roll a d20 and I'll add the necessary modifier. Each round you will get one attempt or a combined attempt with one other player and you can roll with advantage.
If there are no successful attempts, each round Ellis will have to roll a Con save to maintain treading water and will move 30 feet further away.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erro calls to everyone else on the boat, "Ellis! Ellis has gone overboard, do something!" If she is nearby, Erro will slap Rawk and point towards Ellis, "Can you fly and get him?" As he asks this he retrieves rope from his pack and begins tying one end of it to the main mast, hoping to get at least 40 feet of slack into the water. He mutters, "Talos, what have we done to earn such scorn!?"
If Rawk is able, he would hand the end of the rope to Rawk to hold as she flew towards Ellis. If Rawk is unavailable, Erro will attempt to toss the rope out to Ellis to grab.
d20: 20 Another d20 if two rolls are needed: 5
