(yay, we get to die more powerful than we were, lol)
Rawk will rise and stretch her wings out wriggling each individually. That was a wonderful night's sleep she thinks to herself and remembers the mission ahead and quickly packs her things that feel lighter than before. The excited bounce of her head and bobbing body returns as she happily falls in line with the others.
You hurriedly fall in and move up towards the front of the formation near Faelar and Arion. The soldiers seem to be organized with a Dom-Ryn scouting party at the front followed by your group, Faelar, Arion then more Dom-Ryn soldiers, Kainui soldiers and Dom-Ryn soldiers at the rear. The army group marches 8 wide in a loose staggered formation. As you exit the village crowds of villagers bestow blessing and farewells to their loved ones. The sun illuminates the sky and you enter into the jungle. The first few hours pass relatively quietly. The dull thumping of the drums setting the march pace causes the rest of the jungle to be eerily silent. The morale of the soldiers is high and you make good time while the scouts clear a path through the brush. Erro, Ellis and Rawk each take turns assisting the scouting party before returning to warn of any danger or deviations coming ahead. By mid day you take a short rest to eat and assess your location. Rawk carries Elia, Erro and Arion up into the tree tops to scour the landscape. "We've made excellent time given the size of the group. At this pace we should reach the plains tomorrow." Arion says with a smile.
Erro- while up in the tree you notice movement to the southwest. About 600 feet away ahead of your group. The brush is moving unaturally. You're about to speak when you see one of the scouts emerge, machete in hand and you exhale a sigh of relief.
After all parties return to the ground the army group sets back off towards Dom-Gar. The heat of the day is starting to take its toll as sweat drips down every part of your body. Still, the jungle canopy keeps the majority of the sunlight from baking your skin and you trek forward, spurred on by youthful enthusiasm of the soldiers. The afternoon fades to evening and once again Rawk carries up Elia, Arion and now Ellis to spectate the area. "We can camp here or continue into the valley and camp near the creek bed." Elia says. "Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Perhaps your group would like to decide." Arion chimes in. Rawk flies the trio back down and you take a moment to decide.
Ellis- You look out into the jungle and nothing looks familiar. It's as if the whole area around you is a giant mirror image of itself.
Everyone- Will you camp here for the night or make more headway and camp at the base of the valley?I need someone to roll a d8 for the night, d12 for the day, two perception checks and a survival check with advantage.
Ellis listens to Elia, having thought about which to do and then remembering the troubles they had in the jungle before they defeated the Lingering Shadow. "Let's keep going. I think it would be safer camping near the creek bed." he then suggests, not wanting to risk any strange creatures or shadows coming after them in the middle of the night. Just thinking about what could have happened to him back then made him shiver.

Erro reflected that he certainly was excitable right now. That’s what happens when you get a shot of hope.
Erro supposed that it would be easier to conceal their numbers here in the forest. It may be easier to mark their position at the creek bed should any Yuan-ti scouts be slithering about. But, not losing men to dinosaur attacks at night had its advantages too. He felt the scars on his back and narrowed his eyes, looking out into the jungle wondering if that particularly bitey variety was in the area.
Darion would follow along, quite quiet and somewhat fed up at being back in the deep jungle, though glad that they were surrounded by an army this time. He would help out where he could, Robyn flying recon as usual.
You continue forward and carefully descend into the creek valley. The area around the creek bed leaves a large flat area to make camp and greater visibility in the immediate area though the high dirt and rock hills block your sight of anything beyond 300 feet. The army group settles in on either side of the small creek and fill up their water skins. With a few small campfires set you watch as patrols and shifts are assigned within the army leaving you to rest fully for the night.
You awaken early in the morning as the rest of the majority of the army group rouses and begins to pack up for the day's march. A few soldiers from patrol still sleep while the camp busily hands out batches of freshly brewed herbal tea. The tea has a hint of citrus and honey that make it sweet but as you drink it your stomach feels fuller than you expect. You gather your things and within an hour begin your march, the night having passed uneventfully. The morning march begins with difficulty as you climb up the opposite side of the creek valley but thanks to Rawk's overhead view you are able to locate a safe path a few hundred feet up stream. You continue to your march hour after hours avoiding a few sinking sand pits and stop for your midday meal. Dried meats and fruits as well as some nuts make up the main course of your meal while the canopy shades your bodies from the hot sunlight. Still the humidity in the air and radiant heat causes your bodies to sweat heavily and you can feel your clothing stick to your skin. Rawk carries Ellis up to the top of the canopy and
Ellis- You don't really see much that stands out. This jungle is a muggy and confusing maze of never ending trees and vines. There are some dark clouds to the northwest but you can't tell which direction they are heading.
The scouts confirm no sightings of predators but also indicate a storm to the northwest. Your short rest over you stand to your feet and resume your march. Rawk flies ahead of the scouts and catches the first glimpse of the approaching plains as she flies above the canopy. As she turns back she notices the storm has advanced towards the group and flies back to warn everyone. She lands chirping out the impending storm as the first sounds of rolling thunder begin to hear your ears. Elia holds out her palm and hovering above it in the air a dark cloud forms and flashes white with lightning while tiny rain droplets fall from the cloud. "It is only a thunderstorm. Not a whirlwind as before. As long as we are vigilant of the lightning strikes and take cover we should be safe to continue." she says after studying the cloud. You continue your march for another hour before the rain begins to fall. It arrives as a thin mist blocked mostly from the dense forest canopy then as the rain intensifies it pierces through the canopy and drips down onto the army group. Rolling thunder overhead signifies the proximity of the storm and the light within the jungle dies down to dim light. The dirt floor of the jungle turns quickly to mud but Rawk guides the army group around the lower lying sections of jungle and you avoid the difficult terrain created by the storm. (Nice roll!)
Still the storm slows your progress as it continues to soak the jungle for another hour. As the thunder becomes more distant the rain begins to dissipate to a steady light rain that persists well into the afternoon. Your clothes soaked and gear heavier, you slog forward until you start to slow. The scouts motion the group closer and you can see roughly 200 feet ahead of you the jungle opens up to the vast plains that you crossed before. You see the river, now a raging torrent from the rain breaching its banks and partially flooding the lower lying plains. You look up into the cloudy sky and guestimate that it is roughly 4 in the afternoon. From what you remember on your journey to Kainui, you know that crossing the plains takes half a day in good weather. Arion and Faelar gather with you and discuss options.
Now the choice lies up to you again. Do you camp at the edge of the forest for the night and lose a few hours of travel, risk crossing the plains marching on into the night or march partially into the plains and risk camping in the middle of the plains?
Erro didn’t think that marching on into the night seemed like a good idea. He didn’t see a compelling reason for that level of rush, not yet. The jungle felt a bit claustrophobic to him, so he liked the idea of camping out beneath the stars on the plains. The group would be sure to get everything’s attention out on the plain though.
Darion will look concerned at the thought of pushing on to quickly "For preference, I think we should be careful of trying to go to far is such bad weather, especially with the river flooding. An early break might be better. As much as I dislike the jungle, though, I wonder if it would be better to camp somewhere that gives some concealment from prying eyes...."
Ellis thinks of what they should do, sighing. "It would be safer to not be in the plains for now. So stopping now would be good, but I agree that being more concealed would help." he says back to them.
Rawk looks to Elia and asks, "The weaved vines you helped create back home, could you do something similar if we move into the plains? If not I think having a bit of tree cover would be better given the storm."
"That is an interesting thought. One that could be beneficial as we continue to travel. Though, I'm sorry I do not have that spell prepared today. It would take a couple castings to secure an area large enough for the army group, but if our good fortune continues I will be sure to use it tomorrow night wherever we camp. I will also check with the Kainui shamans to see if they are capable of such magic." Elia replies with a bit of optimism. She leaves the group for about ten minutes while you inform the army group to begin making camp along the edge of the jungle. Elia returns with a soft smile and says, "They are aware of the spell and will prepare it for tomorrow. Unfortunately none of them prepared it today." then turns to assist in the preparation of the camp. Given the additional time, the army group decides to cut down a few trees and make a makeshift tower about 20 feet from the edge of the jungle.
If you wish to help in the effort, roll a d20 and detail in what way you will assist. I also need a d8 roll for the night, d12 for the following day, two perception checks and a survival check with advantage.

Rawk would watch Robyn with a small sense of appreciation and empathy. She knew the feeling. It was good to be back on land where there were plenty of places to perk and observe. When they begin to build the tower Rawk would assist in chopping trees, carrying and positioning the posts while using her flight to her advantage.

Ellis sings a few songs while the soldiers chop down trees and work on constructing the tower. Rawk aids as best she can, which at times is too much due to her great strength. She rapidly carries the heavy logs over too early and the larger tree trunks that are supposed to form the base of the tower soon become buried beneath the smaller support trunks. Erro assists in guiding Rawk and quickly delegates creating distributed piles for each type of trunk. This system increases efficiency and once Rawk is on board things move along much quicker. Within an hour the framework of the tower is in place and the soldiers begin to nail and tie down the supports. From what you can tell the tower will be mostly open consisting of four poles angled slightly inward with support cross beams spaced evenly 3-4 feet apart. The forest facing side has supports every foot that act as a ladder and at the top limbs are laid out parallel to one another to create a platform. At the expiration of 3 hours the tower is nearing completion and the soldiers, with the help of Rawk are tying in a small 3 foot high wall around the top platform to act as a partial shield against the wind.
As afternoon turns to evening, Robyn flies overhead and spots a couple pods of herbivores off near the center of the plains bedding down in the cool mud far from the river. A couple adults circle around the group as patrols while the rest settle in for the night. The scouts atop the 25 foot tower can see out across the flooded plains and make notes of all movement they spot. The setting sun transforms the dull grey clouds into puffs of glowing amber in the west and you make camp between 10-100 feet into the jungle. The misty rain ceases just as the last rays of light disappear and the mostly cloudy sky chokes the little light shed from the stars and moon. Lit only by torches on the tower and a few small campfires you settle in under the canvas of a tent and fall asleep.
A low rumble shakes through your body and disrupts your sleep. Your ears hear the distorted sounds of honks and hoots from the west and you shake your head to clear your grogginess. The ground beneath you shakes more violently and the honks sound closer. A horn from the tower sounds and is immediately drowned out by a thunderous roar of a creature farther in the distance. The camp is thrown into chaos as the rumble intensifies. A few seconds later you see the oncoming stampede of large creatures barreling in the direction of the camp nearly 100 feet away. You stand to your feet as this giant approaching shadow of forms begins to take shape and you see a combination of duck-billed hadrosaurs and stegosaurs sprinting mindlessly towards the safety on the jungle.
