(something tells me getting fungus on us is bad... I don't know whether burning the bodies would destroy the fungus or spread it more, though endurance wouldn't think of that)
DM: Congratulations. Getting zombie fungus that turned the wolves into mushroom zombies on you is bad. In other news, getting water on your clothes makes them wet. I was just sitting here and wondering why you are trying to skin the obviously fungus infected wolf. I'm wasn't going to stop that because I'm not there in the story and I kinda wanted to see what you all was planning to do with the hide.
(no one said the fungus made them mushroom zombies until just now. They could have been zombie from something else and because they are dead, they grew mushrooms after. I guess now we, though not our characters, know)
(the plan was always to trick you into revealing that they were mushroom zombies. What am I going to do, summon eldritch thread to go with my pact needle? You got played, son! This was definitely the plan and not me doing something stupid without thinking it through because the other kids told me to. )
Yuldra looks down at the bloody mess and her scabby, clotted prize. "Sooooo..... Any of you know how to tan a hide?"
Are flies gathering on the skinless wolf? If so are they tiny fungus flies?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Surprisingly there are no flies yet. And now the party has a fungus infected wolf hide with knife holes in it because Yul did a bad job at removing it (You rolled like a 10 or something). So what are you going to do with it.
Also Glory wakes up to see the party sitting around a torn up fungus infected hide.
Glory may use hit die to recover HP but may not recover abilities that recharge on short rest because she didn't exactly take a short rest.
Also she takes: 6 Sanity damage from getting to 0 HP
(OOC: 11 with modifiers! That's literally better than average for a d20 roll!)
While the others are lazing on her laurels Yuldra sets about scraping any excess flesh and fat from the inside of the skin and then tries to think of some way in which her Pact weapon could serve as both a bucket and a large quantity of non-iodized salt. Nothing springs to mind.
"Does anyone want this? I'm not sure I want to sit here for 4 days fighting off mushroom wolves and soaking... this in salt and ammonia, only to have a poncho that looks like a were-tramps back."
If there are no takers, she'll chalk this one up to experience (literally, step one on the way to Tanners Tools proficiency, ah go on!) and is ready to move on when you guys are.
Additionally, tanning things is going to be difficult when there is no sun. Also are guys going to leave the wolf skin there and continue heading North West until you find the road that's marked on the super old map?
(the plan was always to trick you into revealing that they were mushroom zombies. What am I going to do, summon eldritch thread to go with my pact needle? You got played, son! Who are you calling a kid? I am legally an adult
After Glory is a bit recovered, Endurance will get his magic compass back out and head off back towards the path. He doesn't care what happens to the hide as long as it is someone else's responsibility not his.
(OOC : You're right. We can't just leave skin lying around the place, that's barbaric!)
Yuldra frowns at Glory. "Skin it? Don't be ridiculous, that would require some kind of specialised knife and as you can see..." she acts as if she's reaching under her skirts, summoning her weapon to her hand in the form of an old-fashioned flint-head tomahawk, "...all I have is this incredibly primitive axe. It has it's uses though."
She draws her rapier and starts striking the hilt of it off the head of the axe to generate sparks, trying to set the pelt alight. It occurs to her that she has a tinderbox for exactly this kind of thing, and maybe she's pushing her luck a little with Yours Eldritchly, but she shrugs the feeling away.
"Now, shouldn't we be on our way, before an angry Toadstool gets any ideas about what's for dinner?"
(I don't want to give Zulk any ideas but if Endurance wasn't dumber than the average person he would be legging it. Fire and fungus could release a spore explosion. Though if Endurance gets infected, Nim will start stealing more of Yuno's kills. Unless cross campaign blackmail is frowned upon)
(Now you're making it too easy for me to screw you guys over... not that I would ever do that intentionally. )
Yul finds it exceedingly difficult to make sparks for lighting a fire with her Eldritch weapons. If she wants she can still burn the skin with her tinder box if she wants to. So is everyone following Endurance north west?
(bahahaha cross campaign blackmail is now a thing? I've got to get in on this)
Varis watches all of this uncharacteristically quietly, and when everyone gets up to move out, he jumps up too. Yes, let's get the hell out of here. And try not to run into any more fungus wolves, maybe? He'll move towards the front and try to keep an eye out for anything else.

After walking for some time, you feel the ground beneath your feet turn soft but not naturally so and you hear what sounds like running water. The dead trees around you reduce in density and you find yourself near a river. Strange. The closest river is the one flowing near swamp Gorgoth. However, the Orb of Direction made sure that you were heading in a straight-ish line. It should be impossible to reach that river without crossing the road. Additionally, the river on the map looks like it should be much further from where you all washed up on than the river in front of you. However, it's hard to say since the map lacks any explicit indication of distance. It was drawn by a child but the child used cartographer's tools so the map should be consistent even if there is no direction marked... right?
Yuldra leans over Endurance's shoulder. "This is wrong. This is all wrong. This shouldn't be here. Not unless we're way off course or the map is wrong. But even a blunthead, such as yourself, can use an orb of direction; and the map was made by an enthusiastic infant with proper tools, it's clearly pin perfect accurate. And geological change on this kind of scale takes far longer than the 50 years this place has had. Which can only mean.... RIVER MIMIC!" She nocks an arrow and finds a defensive position.
You are able to get the skin out. It's not perfect but at least you didn't tear it too bad and you didn't get fungus on you.

After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)

Yuldra gives up, draping the skin over the carcass like a shroud, summons her bow and falls in behind Endurance.
