The shopkeeper takes a moment to do some calculations in his head after hearing the amount mentioned and takes a quick breath,"Very well, give me a moment." He heads back into the back of his shop for a short amount of time before returning with a somewhat small chest that he sets on the counter and opens up. It's easy to see this chest is empty at the moment. "Go ahead and bring out those copper pieces so I can start counting them out."
It takes some time, but steadily he begins counting out the copper pieces and stacking them into the chest he brought out. Slowly but surely he fills the chest but inevitably he counts out all of the copper coins. Once complete he closes the chest, and from bellow the counter he pulls out some other coins, stacking those separately in front of you. In then end there are 4 stacks of 10 gold coins and 4 stacks of 10 silver coins. "There you are, minus the cost of the hooded lantern and the tanning supplies, your total is 44 gold. Is there anything else you would like this evening?"
”Thank you. I think we should meet the others at the smithy now.“ Moira helps Nemeia load the coins back into the bag. Then head out for the blacksmith’s.
“Magical option is intriguing but I doubt I can afford it. Still, let me hear what you can do with these there and how would you make them functional.”, she hands the tongue and the fang to Mary, hearing Sora call out to her from the street, “Didn’t have much luck in the previous store personally. Others are going to arrive soon enough. What about you?”.
Up to this point it hadn’t occurred to 9 that she left Nemeia and Moira alone. She didn’t doubt their skills, she just worried about them, although Witt’s presence near them calmed her.
Nemeia thanks everyone for their time at the general store and moves to find the blacksmith.
When she arrives at the blacksmith she finds herself quite impressed at the half-orc's physique. It was nice to be around someone so dedicated to their craft again. Nemeia found herself looking over the shop trying to understand how the process worked more than she was interested in shopping. If the moment comes up, Nemeia will ask her if she's had any luck in crafting hand cannons of any sort.
"Everything went great." Sora smiled at 9 as she replied, "Dru's happy of course. Promised he'd send word to that Adventurer's Guild thing. Oh speaking of the others." She waved a greetings as the rest of the group arrived. "Hey guys, shopping all done?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nemeia nods to Sora. "I think we're going to need to complete a few more jobs before we are able to buy some of the things we need." Thinking for a moment, she pulls out the small mass of raw copper ore and presents it to the blacksmith. "Is this enough copper to make anything of note?,"she asks. Nemeia seems fixated on the blacksmithing process and it's apparent she's trying to figure out her own way to start crafting things using such tools.
"O-Oh my there are quite a few of you. Um, ... hello I'm ... well you can just call me Mary."The large half-orc woman said in a shy voice as she looked over the others, eventually she turned towards Nemeia and answered her question,"Hand cannons? Oh no I've never tried anything like that, I'm afraid that's beyond my expertise. In fact,"She looked back over at 9 as she continued,"It's for the best if you're not looking for anything magically imbued. I get a number of adventures passing through asking about crafting magic arms and armor but I'm afraid I wouldn't be too good at it."
"Ha! I'd have to disagree!" A large voice called out from behind the forge as a large human man came walking out. It's not hard to recognize him as he's very large by human standards, you easily recall seeing him at the Waning Lure this morning participating in the 'festivities' when you first met the last members of your current group. The man walked up behind Mary the blacksmith, wrapping his arms around her waist in an affectionate hug before he continued speaking."My wife here is the best damn blacksmith in the kingdom if you ask me. She's just a little hard on herself, that's all."
"Darren, honey, you're back." Mary said with a blushing smile on her face.
"I am, sweety, left today's catch in the coldbox."The man said while reaching up and giving the half-orc a kiss on the cheek, it was an interesting sight that such a large human could be made to seem small compared to the larger half-orc.
"Um, I have customers, dear."Mary said slightly embarrassed.
"I know baby, I'm just making sure they know how amazing you are!"Darren smiled wide and slowly released his hug while looking over the gathered party, he quickly recognized the group, Sora in particular, and offered everyone a large smile,"Hey, you've returned! Haha! It seems you've made short work of those goblins Dru mentioned. Well done!"
Nemeia can't help but smile at the affection being offered. It reminded her of home as her mother would do much the same while father worked away in the shop. "It seems that you have high demand for magical items. Have you thought about learning the trade to increase your profits?," Nemeia asks matter-of-factually. "I would be happy to show you what I know some time if my schedule allows," the tiefling says a bit proudly.
"I think that's a great idea!" Darren exclaimed as he winked at his wife encouragingly.
"Thank you dear, that's enough for now. You should go back inside and clean those fish while I do my work."Mary suggested to her husband.
"Alright honey, I'll get dinner started."With another quick kiss on the cheek, the human stepped away from his wife, giving the rest of the party a warm smile,"Great to see all of you again. You all have my personal guarantee that my lovely wife's work is second to none."With a friendly wave he turned around and headed back into their home.
"I would apologize for him, but my husband is always like that."Mary said with a wide smile, a moment later she shook it off, trying to force a more professional look, though instead the blushing cheeks on the large half-orc made her look somewhat cute."I'm sorry, as I was saying, you were interested in making something with those snake parts yes?" She took the time to inspect the fang as she considered it carefully,"I would need to shave some of this material down in order to make it truly functional for you, which would reduce the size by quite a bit. I could make it into a small knife easily enough but it probably wouldn't be very good for combat in that case. If you were looking for something that's more effective in battle I can use the fang as a support spine and integrate it into a hardened metal tapered outline. In essence build a dagger around the fang itself. That would be far more useful in combat without being much more expensive, though it would take longer to craft."
(Bit of bookkeeping. When they got the coin from the elf at the general store Moira will take three of the gold pieces and ten of the silver.)
Moira will look around the blacksmith looking for any examples of their leather work or if they have tools set out that speak to their process/skill.
“We also got all that copper changed over. I took mine already but the rest of you should take your shares as well. And Nemeia here had wanted a tool set that was kind of expensive. I for one think she has more than earned it and we will all be helped by her having the tools she needs. If the rest of each chip in some she should be able to get it.” Moira digs 5 gold out and hands it to the tinkerer.
Nemeia's eyebrows curl into confusion. "That would be quite the crafting process though, wouldn't it? Is there not a less risky way to make the type of item she requests?," she asks the blacksmith though doing her best to not question her talents.
"Ha! That ol' man of yours is great." Sora said with a laugh as she waved Darren away, she looked back at nods in agreement with her. "Sure sounds fine by me. Hell, if we all stick together then the better one of us gets the better it is for all of us right? Go ahead and give me whatever's left over from my share."
"Ah ... would it?" Mary replied shyly to Nemeia, "I mean it's a more delicate process then a typical dagger so it would take a bit longer. I wouldn't say it's riskier, oh ... unless you're in a hurry."
While they spoke, Moria could see as she looked around the shop that there were some tools used in leatherworking as well, the sort of tools she would expect from any competent leather crafter. There were no obvious examples of leatherworking out on display, however, so it was difficult to gauge any talent based on a simple look around the shop.
”Sorry to interrupt. But it’s wonderful to meet you Mary. I’m Moira. The fella who runs the general store mentioned you would be the person in town to speak to about leather tanning and working. I won’t take up to much time but we did manage to get this fine hide to work with out in the swamp and I got the tanning solution I need. Do you happen to have an area to clean and work the hide I might borrow for you?”
"Oh yes, of course, I have an area set aside for that in the back."Mary confirms to Moira, "I'm sure I have a spare barrel you can use. Since you already have the materials you need, no sense charging anything if you wish to do the work yourself."She'll gladly lead you back through the shop out a rear entrance to an area just behind the blacksmith shop proper. There you'll notice she has several tools and work areas set aside for additional crafting. From woodworking tools to leatherworking supplies, there's a wide array crafting options available here. While it's clear her focus is mainly in the metalworking side of blacksmithing, she clearly has experiences with many tangential crafting skills.
She pulls out a good sized barrel from behind one of the tables setup back here and sets it down before Moira."There, will this do? Or do you need something bigger?"
Nemeia continues looking over the work area while the others finish up their shopping. "I don't know that we're in a hurry. We just picked up a job clearing out the goblins from the mine. We may go look into a frog situation so that would keep us in town a bit I guess," she says a bit disappointingly at 9. "This shop is rather nice," Nemeia says with appreciation. "You've done well here."
"Oh my. Thank you, that's kind of you to say."Blushing a little bit by the unexpected compliment, Mary heads back to the rest of the group. She moves over to where 9 is standing as she checks in on her,"Ah, so, were you interested in that dagger then? Or would just a simple knife be sufficient for what you're looking for?"
